Supertramp epitomized progression. They seemed to understand that the easily bored audience required it. They always added more depth of instruments and vocals running the songs through the roof from verse to verse and from chorus to chorus.
Supertramp is Roger Hodgson & Rick Davies. Both are singers, songwriters and keyboardplayers. So there are often two voices and always lots of keys. This album is their prog masterpiece and Breakfast in America is their commercial masterwork.
"Supertramp is music to my ears" - La That is what we have been telling you gentleman. 😊 Supertramp's dynamics are S tier. BTW - 15 p is Pence or Pennies in England.
No doubt my favorite Supertramp Album & best recording too...Next are Crises what Crisis & Even in the Quietest Moments...saw them 3x in Concert...never disappointed.
Great tune by Supertramp. The more that you hear them, the more that you realize how so far ahead of the curve they were in the Prog rock genre. I definitely heard the early Elton vibes with the piano and string and the buildup. Great reaction La and Che!
La and Che thanks for reintroducing Super Tramp to me. Fabulous musicians. They went completely radar. Excellent reaction fellas! You are the best. Appreciate you 🙏 ❤
I'm really, really happy that you like this music. She has never left my side since the first time, in 1977. She always amazes me. There is always a detail, something that still manages to amaze me, even after hundreds and hundreds of listens.
You guys should start doing some of their live tunes off of the Paris album. From start to finish one of the great live albums of all time. Love your channel by the way.
Love Supertramp, bought this album when I was 14 and saw them live on the tour. You should really be doing this whole album but "Rudy" is a must. Also check out "Even in the Quietest Moments" and "Fool's Overture" and more. Thanks guys, loving your channel!
Great reaction, guys, as always!! My suggestion, for what it's worth - every single song off "Crime of the Century" followed by each track on "Crisis? What Crisis?", then "Even In the Quietest Moments" and finally "Breakfast in America". All excellent LP's and well worthy of you reactions! Peace,
Great reaction! It's great to see you react to Supertramp and being as blown away as I was some forty years ago when I started listening to them. Supertramp is an amazing band, extremely talented and progressive rock at it's very best. Keep reacting..., try "Even in the quietest moments".., "Fools overture"..., "If everyone was listening"....,
When you are old enough to have lived through this music and come to days sound, it's easy to understand why todays music seems flat. Thanks for sharing gents, you content is enjoyed and appreciated.
This is so exciting to see you guys react to this album. It's one of my favorite by them. And like a lot of really amazing pans, they've got multiple members that can effectively do lead vocals and everybody can do fantastic Harmony vocals. Can't wait to hear your reaction to bloody well right, unless you've already done it and I missed it. I'll probably go check the playlist.
I just LOVE how much y’all LOVE Supertramp. Grew up loving them with very few friends that also had an appreciation for them. I’m sure “Fools Overture”is on your “to do” list, but I really can’t wait to see what y’all think of it!
15p is 15 pence (pennies), or £0.15 (pounds), or £3.00 a packet of 20, pretty sure it would have been about £1 a packet in those days. Even now its not £15 for a cig!
Ken Scott on production. Partly recorded at Trident Studios using their proprietary console, one of the best sounding desks ever made. They made good use of the legendary Trident Bechstein piano, also featured on many Elton John, Queen, Carly Simon , Bowie, etc. tracks.
I saw Supertramp in concert when I was 18 and this song hit particularly hard live. I didn’t expect it, but WHAM…I got rocked. Prior to that, I wouldn’t have called it filler but just not as gripping to me as a lot of their other songs. It changed that day.
I just now realized, I think like the Live in Paris version of this song more. And I still maintain that Bob Siebenberg is one of the most underrated rock drummers of all time.
I've never heard this song, but it illuminates a critical point. The best songs are the deeper cuts beyond the hits. Tramp was channeling some Beatles and Floyd here. Great stuff.
Lol. Supertramp does not hold back!! I love the risks they take. That's where true creativity resides - in the courage to blast through the fear of judgement from the critics, from the public, from the fans and ultimately from oneself.
You guys really need to react to Hide In Your Shell, the song just prior to this one on the album. To me Hide In Your Shell is Supertramp's all-time greatest song.
I’ll suggest again, their magnum opus, Brother Where You Bound. The title cut off the first album after Roger Hodgson left the band. It is the longest song they ever released and has guest guitarist David Gilmour! Masterpiece!!
Awesome album, great song! IMHO this is the single greatest rock song ever about sanity and insanity, the duality and the limits imposed by society between them. A masterpiece.
As with these prog type bands, and for the era of these musicians, the entire album is meant to be listened in its entirety. This song is a welcome “breather” in the midst of some other more energetic compositions. It’s its own gem in that it ties in with the theme of the album. Such a pleasurable album to listen to!
I don’t believe in G.O.A.Ts when it comes to music but this album is one of the few that when you listen to it you know it couldn’t possibly be better, perfection the lyrics, the instruments, the mix… incredible, every time I revisit it I’m blown away again.
Another great Supertramp reaction guys! Keep the train moving please. Even in the Quietest Moments, the Logical Song and Goodbye Stranger that has the best outro guitar solo EVER
I think I’m going to. Start a TH-cam channel devoted to Airplay finding Supertramp. The two fo you have done a phenomenal job of it. Congratulations, and Thank You. I hope some time you’ll find your way to “If Everyone Was Listening”. Just imagine, the Crime of the Century album is elevated and closed out by Asylum, followed by Dreamer, followed by Rudy, followed by If Everyone Was Listening, followed by Crime of The Century. Boom. 1974. 2023. Thank You both.
Yes Boys, Mamma here, they say an apple a day keeps the Dr away, Mamma says Supertramp keeps the Dr away. Ok You gotta hear this whole flippin album , you're ears will thank you for the blessing. Cheers
You guys sure been bitten by the Tramp!!! As you rightly said..........musicianship off the scale and yes they never disappoint. When I bought this album in 75 it sounded so ahead of its time, and even now it's stellar. To many Tramp fans Crime is the best album
Love it when you guys get back to Supertramp! PLEASE do a review for Hide In Your Shell from this album. It is one of my favorite Supertramp songs and I think you'll really enjoy it. Have a good weekend gents!
Hi Boys, Do yourselves a favour and treat, listen to the full album. Not for the show or money, just the sheer pleasure of listening to one of the top drawer LP’S of modern music. Up there with anything!! George Inverness.
Gentlemen I love your reactions to the music I grew up listening to, Super Tramp is one of the best I suggest listening to there next album called Crisis what Crisis. Another album with all great songs.
15 p in the UK is a pence or English penny ¢. And your response to my favorite Supertramp song reminds me of mine 45 yrs ago thank you for the smile you put on my face tonight 🎶
15p is 15 pence - brilliant album - great review - you still have 'Hide in Your Shell' & 'If Everyone Was Listening' to finish off this album. - can't wait.
It gave me Elton John vibes in the beginning, too! Glad I wasn't the only one, lol. Of course Supertramp always bring it, they're consumate professionals & extremely talented.
I don't know if there's a table big enough for all the bands that were around in the 70s 80s. At one point I had tickets for, Moody Blues,Neil Young ,Jethro Tull and The Dead, on the night stand in my bedroom.
THE best sounding album of all time, and this is the peak of it all, production wise. George Martin couldn’t have improved this, Phil Spector couldn’t have, Brian Wilson couldn’t have… it’s just PERFECT❤
I hope you guys can realize and understand how much these guys had an impact on us teenagers back in days. Let's just say that all the music that came out in the 70's made me who l'am today and I won't have it any other way 👍🏻
I'm happy for you gentleman having found this incredible band but sad for you as well knowing that you'll never see a live performance. I saw them numerous times in the 70s and 80s and can tell you they were absolutely fantastic in concert. I recommend Fools overture for your next supertramp song.
Consider hearing "Try Again", off of the first album. The album wasn't much to talk about. Not for me. "Try Again" wasn't played on the radio. But you hear this song and think, OK, this is the first time the great arrangement potential revealed itself. I think at that time they had a different woodwinds guy. This song has flute. As I recall, it's a long song... so I hope that's OK. It's not as incredible as some of these masterpieces that you have heard, but it's quite unique and I loved it the first time I heard it.
Actually, you are both correct. This song and Elton's song "Madman Across The Water" explore similar territory both lyrically and musically. And they were recorded within roughly a year of each other. So in that sense, they are bound to share at least one momentary vibe. But aside from that, they are each their own singular artistic vision. And both are remarkable achievements.
All of my favorite reactions from you guys are always a Supertramp song ! Watching 2 guys / musicians at least 2 generations below me Appreciate and understand their sound and there uniqueness is Awesome ! These guys have always been and will always be my favorite band from my teenage years which is the 70s ! I can't wait til you start to dabble in there "Even in the Quietest of Moments" album ! Their catalogue is pretty damn deep ! ✌️
One of eight masterpiece songs from Supertramp's masterpiece of masterpiece albums. The live version from " Paris " is very good, it is played at a slightly faster tempo
Hey La & Che, I think you've pretty much covered this album "Crime Of The Century." It's such a great listen nothing but one great tune after another. I'm in total agreement with you this band is top-tier and is considered one of the greats. And so, I believe you've reacted to "Give A Little Bit" which is a song from the album "Even the Quietest Moments" which is their fifth studio album released in 1977. And here's the second big hit on this album in case you're interested in. "Supertramp - Fool's Overture (Audio)" Great reaction fellas' thanks for sharing.
It’s easy to pick a song that is not to your liking. A friend from WSU came back with Night at The Oprah and Crime Of the Century. Wow. What a day of music. Enjoy!
They didn't include the strings until this song. The songs on the other side were on the B-side and, in most cases, they were considered experimental or throw away crap. So, way back in the day, this song was the conclusion. The same was the case of "The Grest Gig in the Sky" on the album "Dark Side of the Moon."
Asylum.... at the very end it got cut off as the volume fell.... the coo coo clock sound effect... it's all the little things Supertramp added that make their albums as close to perfection as it comes... what better way to end a tune that states... "don't let them take me to no asylum, I'm just the same as anyone, it's just a game I play for fun..... Coo Coo....
"Crime of the Century" is a start-to-finish concept album masterpiece.
One of my favorite albums.
My favorite ❤
Crime of the Century is an eclectic album which showcases the group that Supertramp was.
I love the songs where they "talk" back and forth to one another. To me it's their signature effect, and it's rather uncommon in other bands.
Listen to the outro again, and crank it up as it fades. It doesn't completely fade. It ends with the bird from a cuckoo clock. Brilliant...
I would suggest, for your listening enjoyment, The Logical Song, Fool's Overture, and Even in the Quietest Moments. Supertramp never disappoints.
I thought "Crime, Even in the Quietest Moments and Breakfast" were their hat trick. Score!!!!!!
Their greatest Album ever!!! 70's Masterpiece
been to 4 supertramp concerts.......... each one a trip to excellence land, love this band!!!!!
"Supertramp is music to my ears" - La
That is what we have been telling you gentleman. 😊 Supertramp's dynamics are S tier.
BTW - 15 p is Pence or Pennies in England.
Back in the day when everyone was listening to Rush and Van Halen, I was digging The Beatles and Supertramp. I think I won.
No doubt my favorite Supertramp Album & best recording too...Next are Crises what Crisis & Even in the Quietest Moments...saw them 3x in Concert...never disappointed.
Always good to see peeps finding STramp after all these years they are still the GOAT
I think 15P means pence, not pounds. This was 1974 so a smoke would have been cheap.
Appreciate you 🙏 ❤
Welcome again to Supertramp. Enjoy 🎶🫴🕊🫴🇨🇦
I've seen them live 3 times since this album dropped. Everything that you hear in their songs they play live and thunderously.
I freaking love that you guys are the songs nobody else is doing.❤Supertramp is so awesome. People should dive deep into the hole... go swimmin
Taking in a live video makes you realise just how good they were, they reproduced what they created in the studio to perfection!
I love that you love Supertramp ✌🤘
I'm really, really happy that you like this music.

Was fortunate to see Supertramp in Halifax NS in 1985...great concert!
One of the best😁
Great reaction! It's great to see you react to Supertramp and being as blown away as I was some forty years ago when I started listening to them. Seen them live many times. This track is what you call "genius" love from London Jan ☺️
Nailed it again Sactown! Glad you're enjoying Supertramp... can you imagine the musicianship and production quality to capture the dynamics here?
"Like a doberman"...I love your analogies!😄👍
I believe the fifteen p was referring to pence. Which is a hundredth of a pound in England.
I just LOVE how much y’all LOVE Supertramp.
Grew up loving them with very few friends that also had an appreciation for them.
I’m sure “Fools Overture”is on your “to do” list, but I really can’t wait to see what y’all think of it!
This whole album and this song are my deserted islanded treasures.
I can't wait for you guys to hear FROM NOW ON 🤯
Guys you have to play Hide In Your Shell that's a great track. Love to you both xx.
WELL THIS MAKES MY MORNING!!! 💯😊HAVE A GR88888 DAY & WEEKEND GUYS!
15p is 15 pence (pennies), or £0.15 (pounds), or £3.00 a packet of 20, pretty sure it would have been about £1 a packet in those days. Even now its not £15 for a cig!

4 of the best shows I ever saw were the 4 times I saw Supertramp at Edmonton's Northlands Coloseum🇨🇦🇨🇦
I just now realized, I think like the Live in Paris version of this song more.

What memories. Bought this album back in '77 when Bloody Well Right hit the air waves, and I feel in love with Supertramp. Where has time gone?
Another great by supertramp, I always liked the older tramp ,check out even in the quietest moments
I’ll suggest again, their magnum opus, Brother Where You Bound. The title cut off the first album after Roger Hodgson left the band. It is the longest song they ever released and has guest guitarist David Gilmour! Masterpiece!!
Hodgson was gone. Far from their magnum opus. That description goes to Fool's Overture.
I second that suggestion. It's Rick Davie's best work, if not Supertramp's.
Awesome album, great song! IMHO this is the single greatest rock song ever about sanity and insanity, the duality and the limits imposed by society between them. A masterpiece.

George Inverness.
Gentlemen I love your reactions to the music I grew up listening to, Super Tramp is one of the best I suggest listening to there next album called Crisis what Crisis. Another album with all great songs.
Sounds like 4 artists combined, Elton John, mick jagger,Pink Floyd and Frank Zappa, soo good
15 p in the UK is a pence or English penny ¢. And your response to my favorite Supertramp song reminds me of mine 45 yrs ago thank you for the smile you put on my face tonight 🎶
I don’t want to sound like an old fart, but going back to rock, R&B, funk, blues the talent is limitless ! Thank you guys
LOL!!! Guys, he said "15p," that's 15 PENCE, not pounds. a pence is 1/100 of a pound.
I knew it was some kind of money
Back then in England, 15p would buy a pack of five.
I don't know if there's a table big enough for all the bands that were around in the 70s 80s. At one point I had tickets for, Moody Blues,Neil Young ,Jethro Tull and The Dead, on the night stand in my bedroom.

George Martin couldn’t have improved this, Phil Spector couldn’t have, Brian Wilson couldn’t have…
it’s just PERFECT❤
this is, to my mind, the best song about mentall illness I know, the Nest Above The Coockoo's Nest of rock music
Listen to this record from start to finish with no breaks. That's when it really shines.
The entire album is brilliant!
In the UK they say 'p' for pence, similar to our penny, being 1/100 of a GBP (Great British Pound).
Progressive Brilliance, lads! One of the best, along w Even in the Quietest Moments.
Dang, I love that song. Well done gentlemen.!
Seen this tour in 79 at a outdoor stadium in the heat of the summer with Blue Oyster Cult. Crazy good show! Keep up the good work!
I hope you guys can realize and understand how much these guys had an impact on us teenagers back in days. Let's just say that all the music that came out in the 70's made me who l'am today and I won't have it any other way 👍🏻
15 pence equivalent to 15 cents, another Super Tramp banger Fool’s Overture. ✌🏻
I'm happy for you gentleman having found this incredible band but sad for you as well knowing that you'll never see a live performance. I saw them numerous times in the 70s and 80s and can tell you they were absolutely fantastic in concert. I recommend Fools overture for your next supertramp song.
I love your reactions and I love that you have Goat's Head Soup in the background!
I’ve always found that girls fav is breakfast in America and men usually like crime of the century.
Consider hearing "Try Again", off of the first album. The album wasn't much to talk about. Not for me. "Try Again" wasn't played on the radio. The higher pitch voice behind is the other singer, Roger Hodgson.
My favourite album of theirs, I keep mentioning Porcupine Tree as you would love them, another band made up of amazing musicians
Yes Yes Yes, guys you have to give them a shot. I suggest the live version of ‘The start of something Beautiful’ because it surely will be.
Definitely listen to PT . Arriving somewhere but not here live is where i started
Great reaction guys. Great song too.
Actually, you are both correct. This song and Elton's song "Madman Across The Water" explore similar territory both lyrically and musically. One of eight masterpiece songs from Supertramp's masterpiece of masterpiece albums. The live version from " Paris " is very good, it is played at a slightly faster tempo
I've got this on my stuck on desert island Playlist
Glad to see you reacting to this great band. I'll have to go back and see other reactions you've done with Supertramp. 👍
You wont be disappointed.
Hey La & Che, I think you've pretty much covered this album "Crime Of The Century." It's such a great listen nothing but one great tune after another. I'm in total agreement with you this band is top-tier and is considered one of the greats. A&M RECORD In the 70 sound quality was unbelievable.go and get the gist of the Gemini ASAP Bro
Amazing lp. Saw them 78-79 or so. Great live sound, Tull, Yes. British bands sounded good. $8 probably.
I think you should also give My Kind Of Lady a try! Instrumentally it’s just incredible
It’s easy to pick a song that is not to your liking. A friend from WSU came back with Night at The Oprah and Crime Of the Century. Wow. What a day of music. Enjoy!
Night at the Oprah? Good one!
1:15 15 pence -
pence is often simply pronounced ‘pea’, and one pence is also sometimes called a penny.
This album is one of one. ✌️
They didn't include the strings until this song. The songs on the other side were on the B-side and, in most cases, they were considered experimental or throw away crap. So, way back in the day, this song was the conclusion.
The same was the case of "The Grest Gig in the Sky" on the album "Dark Side of the Moon."

Coo Coo....
The beauty of this group was that their only limitation was their imagination.
This is a great Supertramp tune. Would highly recommend that you check out Fool’s Overture.
The band called Death. The original punk band
