These guys didn’t just pump out records, they crafted musical adventures that could draw you in and mesmerize you. Exceptional writing and musicianship.
Supertramp and Pink Floyd are tied as the “Goats” for me. The musicianship, the production, the assortment of instruments, the lyrics…..are all on another level.👍❤️🎸😎🇨🇦
I have had the extreme pleasure of seeing Supertramp “The Tramp” LIVE 3 times. Their music is pure brilliance from each member of the group. Rick Davies - My Favorite Piano/Keyboard Player. John Helliwell - Favorite Sax player. Roger, Bob and Dougie are all awesome. Their Live shows are spectacular. I only put Pink Floyd (4 times) one place higher for their shows.
I saw Supertramp 3 times and Pink Floyd twice. Both great. I was tripping balls one night at a Sumpertramp concert and they played Rudy with the film screen behind them. I love both bands. Definitely progressive rock.
I listened to this album for the first time like two years ago and it felt like I was listening to a “Best Of” album the entire time. Practically every track I was like “wait THEY did this song?” and it was all on one album!
Hands down, my favorite song on this album. It’s just so lush and layered like any good Supertramp song! I can hear so many different instruments all over the place and I love how Roger’s and Rick’s voices compliment each other and play off each other. Terrific song.
Pretty sure this was the first album to sell a million copies in Canada. A Diamond award. They were absolutely huge in Canada and Europe. Saw them with about 40,000 other people back then. Seriously big stadium act. The main reason you probably never heard of them is because they split up many years ago.
When this album was released, I worked in the high school radio station. I got to crack the cellophane, put this album on the turntable. This song was the first I’d known of Supertramp. I heard this song and had to hear the next. I only took the album off the turntable to turn the album over! Every song was LIFE CHANGING for me!
I agree that Supertramp is under rated. They were unique, respected, *and* loaded with hooks. At the time it took a little work to see the depth in their music, and perhaps even more work now. Kudos to you for doing the work. 👌
For a band with two singers, I'm amazed at how every decision they made to interchange parts, was 100% on the money! Not to mention the power struggles between singers and Producers.
Love how this band transitions! They are up there with Genesis, my two favs. This tune could GO ON FOREVER! What an album. A delicious musical trip every time! So glad you found this group.
Breakfast in America was nominated album of the year (1979) across the board. Including the Grammys. Definitely do the whole record. 'Goodbye Stranger' and 'Child of Vision' are among my favorites of all time.. just pure pop/rock bliss.
This is the only Supertramp album I know, but BOY do I know it! It came out when I was in the 8th grade. In addition to half of these songs getting constant airplay, the album was on my turntable often, as I jammed alone in my room. I'm SO glad I grew up with all the great music of the 70's.
Super show for a super band Supertramp Gots to listen to the entire album , after enjoying some herbs and spices to truly appreciate the greatness Peace 🕊️ from BC Canada
Thanks again AB! Had the pleasure of seeing ST couple times - once earlier in their career and again some years later on - absolutely superb both times! Always a fun show - just like you guys bringing the pleasure back and watching your appreciation.
I always wondered why they didn't hit it even bigger. For a few years all you heard on the radio was Supertramp, but I couldn't tell you what they looked like.

This album came out in 1979, but helped kick off the music of the 80's. It was 'New Wave music ". This is one of my top five songs of all time, and I was 17 when I graduated from highschool and started college in 1984. So I grew up through the greatest decade of music in the history of the planet. It's a favorite, mostly for some personal reasons, but also because it is an unbelievably fantastic piece of music. The album cover was genius. That is New York City behind the statue of Liberty (the waitress holding up a glass of orange juice for a flaming torch, and instead of a Bible in her left arm, a menu for an American diner where they serve "Breakfast in America") Manhattan, behind her does have the twin towers and cups and salt & pepper shakers and fork's and knives for piers around the city.
Great Tramp tune. A suggestion to check out the song Brother Where You Bound. That one was recorded after Roger Hodgson left the band (guitar/keys/high voice) but features Mr. David Gilmour on lead guitar.
This album is one of those you drop the needle on and it stays on your deck for a while. It's like Dark Side in the sense that you may know all the songs as singles but when you sit down and listen to it front to back it becomes something else. This is a "concept record" in my estimation so the order of the tracks and little parts that connect one song to the next are things they poured over for who knows how long because they had to complete the vision they had for the record. This is the first song on the record, it sets the mood and direction and it folds right into the second track Goodbye Stranger. It's a good listen if you guys ever decide to check it out.
I think the boys dig this band and who can blame them? Supertramp were one of those unique artists that blended progressive, pop and rock into a seamless, perfect formula. Absolutely stunning band.
This track was probably the first CD I played on my new Hi-Fi back in the early 80s. I turned up the volume and sat back between the loudspeakers. The complete lack of LP surface noise meant that I had no idea just how loud that opening crescendo was going to get.
Y'all have no idea the pain I've endured waiting for you guys to get to this song once I realized you were covering the band. This is without question my favorite Supertramp song, right up there with School. Keep on slammin' and please get back to the Steely Dan catalogue and finish up the tunes you've missed from the first seven albums! You'd be hard-pressed to find a weak one.🔥❤️
I have seen over 300 shows since 1967, most all the greatest classic rock bands and legendary shows. I say my Number One Live is Pink Floyd (4 times) and number two is Supertramp (3 times)... All the others are a close third and that list is packed. (see my Playlist for live concerts)
They are not underrated actually - here in Europe they were huge (and right so) and still a lot of people listen to their albums. Crime of the Century is one of the best (not only prog) albums ever produced, every single song a gem. It is as good as an album as Dark Side of the Moon and Misplaced Childhood. These three are somehow comparable.
And to think, by my count you have only hit on track from Even in the Quietest Moments. When the time comes, do the whole album in order, starting with Lover Boy…cuz you’ve already heard the first track (Give a Little Bit).
These guys didn’t just pump out records, they crafted musical adventures that could draw you in and mesmerize you. Exceptional writing and musicianship.
I wouldn’t call the narrative of this album an adventure (more so a personal ordeal), but I agree.
I couldn't agree more. Supertramp is definitely underrated. Incredible composition and musicianship

@@AliasMark69 ….I saw them twice, forty years apart. First time on their first tour of North America in 1973-74. Amazing both times.👍
You are correct, Sir!
I saw Supertramp 3 times and Pink Floyd twice. Both great. I was tripping balls one night at a Sumpertramp concert and they played Rudy with the film screen behind them. I love both bands. Definitely progressive rock.
Yes, my faves as well but I have to add Queen and Yes in there for me. I still listen to all 4 bands like they were new!
I Loved the whole breakfast in America album.
Always been my favorite song off the Breakfast in America album. Thanks for the reaction❤
Every song on this album is dope
Every track is in its proper place for a reason, there is no filler.
I listened to this album for the first time like two years ago and it felt like I was listening to a “Best Of” album the entire time. Practically every track I was like “wait THEY did this song?” and it was all on one album!

It never gets old watching how excited you guys get after listening to a Supertramp song ! These guys were Phenomenal !!

Child of Vision is an epic song off this album.
And just like that, the Tramp is back with the Beats 😊

What a truly unique band. Nobody sounds like them. Cant even put them in a genre.
I saw Supertramp live after Breakfast in America came out. Their sound system live was unbelievable. One of the best concerts I’ve seen.
ITS JUST-A HEARTBREAKIN!!!
Love supertramp, top tier musicianship

Great, formidable bunch of music-makers.
😊🤙🏼🎶🔥❤️✨️🕊
Supertramp has a way of just pulling you into a trance like state
My FAVORITE Supertramp song
Love Supertramp, saw them live and they were fabulous.
I haven't heard that for 30 years. Thanks for playing it. BIA was a monster
Underrated great one off this album
Yes it is
A truly great show back in 1979 at The Forum. Remember it well.
I saw that show, and two others. awesome live.
Damn we had it soooooo good in the 70’s!
These guys played The Greek Theater in 1997 , I was there 5th row center !! I've seen them in concert 7 times !! Blow your mind every time !
I agree with you. Supertramp is incredibly talented and yet one of the most underrated bands.
Boyz........u just mesmerized by the Tramp yet again!!
Supertramp usually brings a smile to my face also
Perfect intro to an album. Breakfast in America is a fantastic album
Indeed
Don't get me wrong. I love this LP, but Crime of the Century is my choice.
@@charleskurtz9744 crime of the century is their best album without a doubt.
This album on vinyl thru studio monitors is an experience. Just huge sounding.
So it's time to check out Supertramp's Fools Overture, it's a journey for sure.
Love how this band transitions! They are up there with Genesis, my two favs. This tune could GO ON FOREVER! What an album. A delicious musical trip every time! So glad you found this group.

just an amazing album every song on it was a work of art!
Love this band!
From the album cover art to the last song on this album. Phenomenal.
You guys should delve into their often overlooked LP "Crisis, What Crisis?!"
This is the only Supertramp album I know, but BOY do I know it! It came out when I was in the 8th grade. In addition to half of these songs getting constant airplay, the album was on my turntable often, as I jammed alone in my room. I'm SO glad I grew up with all the great music of the 70's.
Feel in love with Supertramp in 1977. Hated when they broke up.
Absolutely love this one. Thanks, guys.
Awesome song, I have loved these guys for so many years.
La & Chi - hey 50k subscribers! Fantastic- congrats! Great reaction, Supertramp is top notch progressive in their own style!
Deep cut here boys
Super show for a super band
Supertramp
Gots to listen to the entire album , after enjoying some herbs and spices to truly appreciate the greatness
Peace 🕊️ from BC Canada
An absolutely top shelf emotional composition!
Thanks again AB!

One of the songs that get stuck in my head bc it's so good
I always wondered why they didn't hit it even bigger. For a few years all you heard on the radio was Supertramp, but I couldn't tell you what they looked like.
@@Rock_Snob Have they toured in the last thousand years? I don't remember what their front man looked like, he must have had tons of charisma.
One of rhe best composition from Rick for Supertramp.
That's how to begin an album.

The second track on vinyl is The Logical Song.
Brilliant album not one bad track. Top Dollar 👍
BOOM 💥!!!!! Immaculate album. Still have my OG Breakfast vinyl. Nice ONE AP! ☘️🇺🇲

Great song and reaction
Nice to see you guys diving deeper into the catalog. So many great songs that are often forgotten over time.
yeah guys, that’s a perfect album, much like The Dan’s Aja. All killer, no filler! Thanks for what you do!
Every song on this album is high quality Breakfast in America is probably the last great 1970s album 1979
This track was probably the first CD I played on my new Hi-Fi back in the early 80s. I turned up the volume and sat back between the loudspeakers. The complete lack of LP surface noise meant that I had no idea just how loud that opening crescendo was going to get.
3:11 at that point I knew it was over They always come with exquisite dynamics
This is my favorite song by Supertramp. I'm glad you guys gave it a listen.
Yes! It's progressive in a Supertramp way!😁
I absolutely love watching you guys get it. Gives me chills every time 🥰
saw them in 1979 in Koln Germany ..awesome show!

Monster song to open a truly great album.
The S in S-tier is for Supertramp.
This was just an appetizer of the greatest album ever recorded.
This one gets added to your folder on my desk top. Too Cool again, see you soon.
Gone Hollywood sounds like it could've been on Crime of the Century
I had this 8 track
I enjoyed that very much, thank you both.
the words are very important , all the shit going down in hollywood.
I agree with che That's a monster, riff.🫠
You need to continue with the crisis what crisis album it's been my favorite since it was first released check out
Another man's woman
I have seen over 300 shows since 1967, most all the greatest classic rock bands and legendary shows. I say my Number One Live is Pink Floyd (4 times) and number two is Supertramp (3 times)... All the others are a close third and that list is packed. (see my Playlist for live concerts)

Something must have been in the water across the pond in the seventies.
Finally
Hey guys, would you please checkout "Another Man's Woman" (Live)? It super cool to watch.
you guys should dive into the even in the quietest moments album
the original pressing is way more is dynamic check it out Prostudiomasters samples etc
And to think, by my count you have only hit on track from Even in the Quietest Moments.
When the time comes, do the whole album in order, starting with Lover Boy…cuz you’ve already heard the first track (Give a Little Bit).
Music in 'style' it is the Supertramp/ Steely Dan way.
1st !
Lets face it, you guys prefer progressive rock. You can't wait to hear what's comin next.
You have to get back to Crisis What Crisis. That’s real music of substance. This album is too commercial for me.
