Despite initial scepticism, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has kept his unity government together for one year. When he came to power, PM Anwar promised good governance, a clamp down on corruption, and to create a "Malaysia for all Malaysians". He also made the economy and cost of living his main priority.
But the high cost of living and persistent racial stratification remain big hurdles to his rule. The August state elections was seen as a referendum on his government, where the ruling coalition lost some important state seats to the opposition.
After one year at the helm, has Malaysia's 10th Prime Minister made good on his pledges?

To understand the current politics in Malaysia we need to look back at the formation of the Malaysian Federation.
Back then, the majority Malay, witnessing (and fearing) the competence of Lee Kwan Yew and the Chinese-Malaysian, refused the integration with Singapore.
The Malays have been dominating Malaysia ever since.
Both UMNO and PN are all about privileges to Muslims.
Singapore, on the other hand, has been legitimately a multicultural nation. Less religion, more meritocracy.
Look how developed Singapore is and how developed Malaysia is.

The stark contrast between the two perspectives presented here is notable. While one person complains about the reduction in handouts, the other takes it upon themselves to pursue the entrepreneurial opportunities offered by the government's vending machine initiative. This contrast of attitudes highlights a difference in mindset, with the former always expecting handouts while the latter is actively moving towards entrepreneurship.

    • @adadri7778
      @adadri7778 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

How the entrepreneur bullshit turns out now? Is it really makes any change or the same old same old propaganda and gimmicks for politicians to ensure they somehow left their mark? Do you have fact and figures to show this so called stark contrast or you just playing the words game to insinuate how great our current administration are? How come we are getting better now knowing our appointed ministers in economic are useless garbage? Fact and figures shows it.

I find that Malaysian politics in general is a total disaster. Almost every party with Malays always tries to woo the Malays with poor governance and big handouts.
A lot of investments meant to support them either fail spectacularly or go bankrupt because the Malays are not properly educated on business and good ethics since the rise in religious education which is illegal in Malaysia but never followed or enforced. Plus English should be a mandatory subject with others as optional since English is the most important language of business and it should be the westerner level of English education. (Plus ironclad our government school passing mark to 50%, a 49% is still a fail and no second remarking)
If we take all that money spent with the Shariah court, handouts and Malay investments and use it with stringent oversight and accountability where you must meet requirements to ensure low risk then we might be better off today. (I think a majority non-Malay government will work far more effectively with how bad our education system is)

@@palanisamymurugan3943 this is a very very short summary of the reforms that are needed.
I can go on but I’ll give some extra details particularly in education.
Our Malaysian history education is terrible as it overly glorified Malaysia as “superpower” trading hub during Roman times, had the biggest ship 70 times larger than the Portuguese and only let the British take over for “trade”.
We gotta strengthen our education system with quality teachers and staff with much better pay, benefits and a better qualification standard that requires constant testing and retesting to ensure quality educators (heck, bring educators from Oxford or Cambridge if that helps)
I would cut down homework and instead score based on independent thinking and methods (mathematics can be solved with many methods, science is trial and error)
No more fixed quota for schools, now all students have to either take an exam and go through interviews to ensure they are fit to be admitted and for Unis the new minimum is a passing grade with a higher score in English, maths and science being better valued for certain courses.

Any reason why the Malays are given preferential treatment? That is not the case in Indonesia or other SEA countries. All citizens are treated the same. The opposite is actually true in other SEA countries where the minorities have special privileges to protect them and their way of life.

    • @jiaweichew3370
      @jiaweichew3370 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

@@wavemaker2077 well….. it comes down to when our constitution was created and it’s main goal at the time was the improvement of Malay and bumiputera lives.
It was supposed to give them better economic opportunities, some income security (like small business growth and small amounts of money each month), better education (school and university quotas and grants) and healthcare (grants and preferential subsidies).
Over time, the Malays became dependent on this for survival (some of them spend a lot of their money from their government positions salaries) and with the radicalization of Malays ever since we opened up to Saudi Arabia (increase in wahalabism) they have become more corrupt and will never agree to the removal or reforms of those privileges.

These new ideas and solutions might not be able to resolve every issue and please everyone, but there will be a majority of citizens who will see the opportunities and will benefit from it. In fact this is convinient because as long as they give goodies to the majority race, politicians can mostly get away with corruptions, profits to cronies and policies that benefits their politically connected friends. It is also interesting that politicians keeping the malay race mostly poor (except the elite/politically connected malays) as possible even after billions has been spent all these years, so that they depend on the government/politicians and thus, voting those politicians/parties for more financial aids or special treatments. Its getting weird, Anwar won because the majority of the population didnt want a religious group to lead the country. He won because he is a Liberal candidate. But, he has been getting closer and closer to the religious group to win more seats. At this rate, he is going to lose the people who voted for him, while not gaining the religious vote he wanted.
Instead of being more religious to get the religious vote, he should try and make the religious voter more liberal. Let's be honest, the religious vote will never change and they will always vote for the religious party. We see this happening again and again- They are a unique voter demographic. I've talked to a few ministers & advisors on the topic, but they refused to take action despite the obvious data ( They're afraid of Dosa or going to hell for trying to liberalize the religion ?). I hope Anwar realizes this and focuses on those who voted for him instead of trying to chase those who didnt.

The prime is really not in a good condition when he sit in his premiership
    1. Non malay can't understand this country is not ready for pure meritocracy, do not underestimate how conservative Malay can be . Please remember even Lee Kuan Yew fail to do so.
    2. The malays especially rural and suburban malays are not really ready for a change from their Malay Ultra Mindset to Multiracial society, for that they reflect their votes to PN .They can die poor but they cannot live without their privilege which is actually not being delivered for a very long time .
    3. The prime focus within this year is being a state salesman to dragging fdi to the country, at the moment he sit in his team already focus to reboost fdi to be around 55% of the gdp .These results really takes time to let the public to see the results as around 200 b ringgit fdi take times to convert , so before that , all his energy transition map , AI manufacturers, are meaningless for public. What focus in the eye of public is the consequences of paying national debt ,1mdb , inflation, cutting subsidies and etc.
People easily blame the government, but when we torn off the old government during 2018 , when we demand a change , we need to adapt the change as well which is paying debt from the previous one ,the problem is we wan changes but we do not intend want to change.
    4. Socialise , pure democrats keeping criticsize the Anwar administration for zahid ddna , gettkng more right etc. But no many people can accept that the pakatan harapan government is gone . PH roughly only occupied one third of the parliamentary seats . We have partners that use to be the one that we fighting against , hence PH don't have the final say .
The first priority is about the survival of the government.During 2018 Mahatir was ambitious enough to make some changes end up with sheraton that come with a more right side goverment . With that goverment gone , no one will will ever bother about what you want to do .
After all I do trust Anwar , base on the way how he deal things , is about balance .
One small thing that people easily forget is , how does Anwar flip the table within 5 days that is bringing full advantage to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as even the PH supporters do not even trust Anwar have the numbers to form a government.
In my view he is no longer that angry man that just release form jail during 2008 . His calmness and the way he understands the voters , the system , the royal , the opposition and all party leaders make him able to plot his way in to premiership.
So when people even the Chinese community keep amaze and frightened by how perikatan national rise to replace barisan national , they do miss seen that the one on the top post in our countryside doesnt take that crown from luck .
    I trust him .

    Rethinking The Broken Covenant:

Article 11 on the Freedom of Religion on the other hand says “Every person is entitled to profess and practise his own religion and subject to Clause (4), develop their own religion”. 」
"Islam as the religion of the Federation" doesn't make it superior over all other religions or to deprive the development of all other religions, all forms of encroachment are absolutely a very serious violation against The Original Spirit of Malaysia Federation Constitution and The Rule of Law!

Anwar was given a very bad hand when he took over. The past one year was about making the best of his hand, really hard but he’s managed to strengthen his hand despite all the pressure from a hostile opposition group. We can only hope that after this stage he’s able to use the second year to accelerate what needs to be done as he just stated at the recent party conference. He did manage to outclass the opposition in the most recent parliamentary question session with the PM!

Promises as simple as granting the student quota rights were blatantly refused, confirming that Malaysia was a secular nation and a few others. If kept, these promises simple as they were would have encouraged voters to wait and continue the support. His blatant disregard has discouraged all and sundry. In short the challenges that he faces are challenges that he brought upon himself. He has this fanatical tendency to support only one race and one religion and ignore the rest.
