great idea for a product but hopefully they can continue to improve on it. like you said the hinge can be moved internally along with a lock but what about those 3/8" u-bolts? 9/16 socket would take those nuts right off and the whole tube is gone.
LOL, as others have stated the reese kit is 50 dollars on Amazon and a 6 inch PVC pipe is 22 dollars at Menards or Home depot, so you can build the same thing for 72 dollars minus the bed liner or paint treatment. Flat black paint would be just as good....... The nuts on the ubolts could be spot welded or even red loctite for added security
For the record you can make one for under $100 and it’s the exact same quality. $50 for the conduit carrier kit (both end caps and hardware). $40 pvc pipe and a few bucks for spray on Berliner. Boom just saved $400 so good luck with your setup i bet you feel stupid
Buy some pvc and go to Mc master car for the u bolts and hardware. And order the utility kit and a can of bed liner.. you can do it yourself way cheaper than 500 dollars

Then go buy a 10 or 20' section of 6" pvc pipe. Cut it to any length you want. Paint it black or have it sprayed with LineX if you want an exact replica of the Rod Pod. The only thing missing will be the decal on the door. I got a 10' pvc for $19.98 at a local plumbing supply. Conduit carrier $50 6" PVC X10' $21 Professional LineX spray $50 to $100 This can cost you around $121 to $171 assuming you felt you had to have it sprayed with LineX. Other wise around $80 total if you use a decent can or two of spray paint, plastidip or truck bed liner in a can. Plus it can be the length you want or need. Don't fall for this guys lies!!! He says stainless steel... nope try aluminum. Break the knife before it cuts the LineX.... get a half decent plastic knife from the BurgerKing drive through and watch that LineX get carved up. Can't blame him. He gets paid to write articles and push over priced items.
That price is ridiculous. I just helped my buddy build one for his truck, 9ft long and fits 10 jig sticks and offshore rods easy and looks great, even had a template made so we could paint on his charter logo and website. Didnt cost more than $200 and a 6 pack of beer

You can spend $100-$150 and 24-48 hours building one as nice plus personalized and be done before this even arrives at your door. honestly you should be embaresed pushing a product do marked up and outright lying with claims its some how better than what people can DIY.
True that. The hardware on the A.R.E is identical to the reese carrier kit I just bought for 40 bucks. I built my whole identical tube for 110$. that leaves me another 390+ bucks for more rods and tackle.
Dude send that back and just make your own. Under $100 you can make one even better, thats crazy. Find a local pvc shop, its like $40 for a 6" 12ft pipe you can mod. Caps are about $50 w/ the u joints and all. Crazy how fishing companies charge so much for basic stuff.

You can try and cut it anyway you want. $500 bucks for a Painted PVC tube with metal caps and u clamps is fucking ridiculous. Best part about it is. From what I've read, its only available in 8' length? Would love to have this for my fly rod, but at 9', doesn't look like it will work.
