BCA barrel for like $75, a new gas tube for $10...reuse the a2 gas block and it's hard to tell if she actually cut the handguard or not but find some replacements if she did for dirt cheap...hell I have some laying around that I'd donate and the rifle would be good as new for less than $100. The disgusting thing is she didn’t even get charged. I’m English and know a fair bit about firearms as a mechanical engineer the function of them is interesting to me. My dad however, knows nothing, I showed him this video, and even he immediately knew all she had done was created a “sawn off rifle” not destroyed it. Ignorance of the law is not a defence for breaking the law.
Correction: she actually created a bolt action ar15 because she only cucked the front end of he barrel and gas tube so it would still fire but you’d have to cycle the rounds manually, it essentially becomes a single shot ar15 sbr with a straight pull bolt

One of the problems with the process of creating a law is that too many special interest groups often get involved, and distort both the language and spirit of the original law, so the final product barely resembles the intention of the original law. I'll answer that with a few years ago a guy was shooting at a range and his rifle messed up and fired 2 rounds instead of one. Because he had replaced the trigger and despite the ATF having to shoot an ungodly amount of ammunition through it to finally get it to double fire again he was jailed. No intent and the ATF would not tell his lawyer specifics about the misfire, they believe the ATF gave up and just lied about it.
