I think impersonating an officer would only apply if he pulled over actual random people and told them he was a cop, but these people are just quasi actors I mean if that was the case you would never be able to have actors acting as police officers in the movies or on television. Now with that being said, if a real cop had rolled up on them during the "filming" of this they would probably have been in the back of a real patrol car trying to explain it to the real cops. I would imagine (because I don't know) that them running their lights on a public road is still illegal, and that when a studio does it when they are making a movie or what have you, they contact the local police and tell them that they will be in the area making a film and please don't send a bunch of police cars if someone calls us in. I am sure a production company has all kinds of hoops they have to jump through to get permissions to film on public roads. To the best of my knowledge you can doll your car up to look like a police car with lights, and as long as you don't turn them on you are legal (check your local ordinances, I am not a lawyer, I don't even play one on tv, if you get in trouble because of this I will laugh) with that being said if you make your car look like a real police car from a real department, well good luck with that. I wouldn't suggest it myself, which is also probably why the car they used in this video is unmarked and only has a light bar.
highjix it would be different if there were a disclaimer at the beginning of each of his videos stating that he is not a cop, and that his show isn’t real. That is why I say he’s impersonating. And no, I cannot have blue or red lights on my car in Nevada, or any other state I have lived in.

We must emphasize that Mr. Mayo and his affiliates are not members of law enforcement but are instead paid actors. We have strongly encouraged Mr. Mayo and his team to take their filming off public property as Oregon has very defined "Officer Impersonation Laws." He does not carry the necessary permits and is not following procedure for such filming, such as closing roads. We do however acknowledge that filming for TH-cam does NOT violate state law."
I have always thought patty mayo was a dumbass for doing that type of stuff. Hes gonna get himself shot by somebody unless it is all staged then I guess that's different but he is so incredibly unprofessional.
6:50 Also, Donut, I know you established this in the first video and I don't know if *I* did in its comment section, but Mayo isn't even a bounty hunter. In California, that is a licensed profession. It's usually a private investigator's/armed security license. Here's the cruncher: those things are public record. You can *easily* debunk him, just by running him through the state license database. At least, you can in the state of Texas. I'm sure California is the same, but tbh I haven't researched it. *Apparently* you can, and he holds no such license. But again, disclaimer, grain of salt, all that fun stuff: I haven't looked into it myself. Nobody's pissed me off enough yet to do some detective work, and I'm a very lazy Count. Anyway. TL;DR: Not a real bounty hunter, not a real cop. -Someone who's ACTUALLY licensed to do one of the jobs Mayo claims to do.
There is no "license" to do fugitive recovery in California. The first video I saw of theirs where Hunter D was showing his "license" is what clued me in they were fake. There is a penal code 1299 that states the requirements to hunt in California, but no license is issued. You just have to carry proof that you have met those requirements.
@@sacluded I can't think of anywhere that there is a "'license' to do fugitive recovery" off the top of my head. There probably is, so don't quote me on that one. It's usually a "guard card". A security guard license. It's the same way in Texas. Most bondsmen also want investigative experience, but that's not required. However, a bounty hunter is essentially a security guard employed by a bail bondsman exercising powers of arrest under that bondsman's authority. But, no, there is indeed no "fugitive recovery license". It is, however, part of the security industry and, as such, a licensed profession. To carry a weapon whilst doing it, Mayo would need an armed security license. If it's legit, it'll say something like "COMMISSIONED SECURITY OFFICER" on it. In Texas, ours is on the back. On the front, it'll show all the good ID stuff, plus a weapons qual. Mine says "SA/STG". Which means I qualified with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a 12ga shotgun. Though wouldn't it be a lot cooler if it were "Semi-automatic and Sturmgewehr"?
Private investigator Josh Gray did a video covering these exact points. It would've been easier and more respectful to credit him for the work he did, then post a link instead of typing all that. th-cam.com/video/KD0fyDB007A/w-d-xo.html

Isn’t impersonating a police officer a felony? How is he able to get away with this?
I think impersonating an officer would only apply if he pulled over actual random people and told them he was a cop, but these people are just quasi actors
I mean if that was the case you would never be able to have actors acting as police officers in the movies or on television.

Thank you for this little series fr
6:50 Also, Donut, I know you established this in the first video and I don't know if *I* did in its comment section, but Mayo isn't even a bounty hunter. In California, that is a licensed profession. It's usually a private investigator's/armed security license. Here's the cruncher:
those things are public record.
