Yup I can hear Julia in the Creature from the Black Goon Squad-- getting an icicle suddenly stuck in some really tender area. 50's monochrome scream. One of my cousins had a '63 Impala with a 327/375, including but not limited to a Paxton squirrel cage with the longest fan belt I ever saw. That young man would probably say the air is so heated up from turbulence with THAT huffer, you might as well go another 10% over just to catch up. More Crane, Jerry... I personally (and more simply) love the sound of a stroker 500 R's away from puking a couple of con rods into the next county-- on the fly. Great, pretty job: AND it looks more than mean enough to scare veteran cops into going home.
Sonic Rainboom most people I know that go to drag strip as soon as they fire up the promods everybody runs to the grand stands every promod race I’ve seen and seen a quite a few of them don’t care for the new turbo promods they don’t sound as nice ther taking the excitement out of it I’d rather watch that chevy than any turbo promod out ther ther just not the same
It's the same exact pitch of my chronic tinnitus!!!! That is a ridiculous setup! That thing could suck up a frozen Butterball, and leave a trail of turkey Jerky from tree to trap!..... Friggin' love it!!!
I laughed my ass off at the score boards. Auto salvage advertising on the right lane and the methodist church in the left lane. Wonder what they are trying to say. Lmao
I heard there was an A-4 mech lurking about. Stationed at Fighter-town USA. I was with the Fighting Saints/Saint Adversary with the A-4E A-4F and TA-4J. "Scooters." Worked alongside a mech originally from 126. Dana but everyone called him 'Bogey.' Loudest whine I ever heard was a J52-P408A at military power inside the hush house. Folks from Miramar know what I'm talking about.
Yeppers Scooter George! I was with VF-126 (TA-4) squadron there from '74 - '77. We parked our aircraft right next to VF-121 (F-14's). Our squadron were the tester's for the F-14's in the Top Gun school there. Btw, I'm having a hard time remembering a "Dana" or 'Bogey'.
Mike Rayl Maybe you missed bogey. He, like myself, was an AD. I met him in 1980 when I checked into VC-13 in hanger 2. He had gone from the active duty Navy to the reserves and sent to 13 which was a reserve squadron. Said his last assignment was with VF-126. He could have been checking in about the time you left. I did two tours with 13 in hanger 2. Was an AD2 for the first. Ended the second as an AD1. During both tours, 126 was in hanger 1 with Top Gun. What was your rate/rank? I was a plane captain because they wanted as many people qualified as possible for use on detachments to Fallon, El Centro, Yuma, Key West, etc.
Scooter George Yeah, my rank was AMH 2. The 'airframes' shop sent me out to be the trouble-shooter. After a couple moths, they wanted my to get 'plane captain qualified', so I did as they asked. The last thing I did was to go for my rear-seat license. My father had 3 blood-clots in his head and my mom said that she needed me at home. I was going to retire in the Navy, but that didn't work out so well. I finished up in St. Louis (131st CAM squadron) in the MOANG as a munitions/weapons loader for their F4J's they had at the time. I loved every bit about working on aircraft!
My daughter joined the Navy about 10 years ago to become an AM. They finally ditched the H and S sub ratings. They let her out during boot camp claiming she was ADD. From my experience, AMS and AMH both ended up doing the same jobs. The guys fixing the yellow gear (now painted white) were ASE and ASM. Now just AS. Never heard of a CAM squadron. Had to look it up. Interesting 131 used a fleur de lis kind of like VC-13 did. But 13 originated in New Orleans - also hence "Fighting Saints." The F4J was the definitive Navy Phantom II. A shame that circumstances did not allow you to make the navy your career but it sounds like you did very well while on active duty.
the whine must have something to do with the close ratio of pulleys to spin that blower effectively on something with only 383ci of displacement. If it was a more standard setup it wouldnt work due to the lack of ability of the exhaust gasses to exit the motor fast enough to create a negative pressure in the cylinder between cam lobes opening and closing. Secret? Doubt it but there is alot of math involved sticking that much manual boost on a small displacment motors
I really did like those Sony buds too Joe. This sled popcorned them at only half vol on my laptop. Mom, MEATLOAF on the mind! NOW the question should be "What kinda Gortskin from the planet- jumper did they use for that microphone diaphragm??" help me, I'm Beethoven at 60ft.
I just started driving my dads 71’ Nova it’ll run 4.50s transitioning for Jr Dragsters to and S-10 I will say The nova has been the most fun to drive but also a tad bit scary
Hard to really tell without having been there but to me sounds like air whistling past the blades in the injector hat. Maybe hes running a crap ton of overdrive on the blower? Pulley on the blower isn't super small, maybe a huge crank pulley? Our Nova had a 14-71 Kobelco Redline running, iirc, 60% overdrive and sounded like the whine on most other promods....
That's what I thought. Maybe he's done some trickery to do that. It does sound like an air leak. We had the same type of carbon fiber injector and did have a couple of spare injector nozzle ports we didn't use. Maybe he drilled a hole in one to make the noise? They ask the guy about the noise and he just smiled I guess, he had to have done something intentionally. I don't care for it honestly.
mytmousemalibu I was a jet mech in the Navy and that sounds exactly like the air intake on the A-4's I worked on. I lost my hearing in my left ear due to that high-pitched whine.
Mike Rayl I know what ya mean. I'm an A&P myself, some of those gas turbines are hell on the senses. I've run a little Allison 250 on a test stand and those little suckers will make your brain itch, right through your hearing protection. Some of the APU's on the jets i've worked on are pretty bad too. I work on corporate aircraft myself for Experimental flight test.
Eric Polston Eric! What's the deal with the "IH"? I can't read the fine print. What's it say? "1966 Scout Chief?" The reason I'm asking is I've owned 17 International light commercial vehicles...so far. No ag or industrial IH's yet.
That whistle could be vortex air flow spacer with tornado inlets I tried that, it just quagulate my air, being counter clockwise travel to clockwise vortex direction.
SBC back in the 70s small block chevys 4 speed was the ticket in the street a well tune 327 CUin chevy on carburetors 4 speed rock crusher on small tires bring those RPM to almost 10,000 and released that clutch it was a sight to see and hear. too bad you young kids that are still wet behind the ear will never have a chance to experience nothing like this.
He has to have wide open air bleeds in the case some where? Or weird idle ports some where that make it whistle like that! The blower pulley is not that small so he can't be spinning it very fast, also the noise goes away off idle and from the big end it doesn't whine much going down the track
It's so funny when the first time the car rolled out in the video it sound like people were clapping and whistling then the second time you could hear it was the car fool me
Why 1/8 mile, seems stupid to mee. A quarter makes you hanle the car straight much longer, the whole thing is longer, and the top speed is diferent. THis is like all the power and all the fast cars for something not complete
they do 1/8th mile for a reason quarter mile they get going way to fast and it's just a lot safer. top fuel does eighth miles because they can go well over 300 miles and hour in that distance .just a safety thing pretty much
+randombk82894 Top Fuel Dragsters no longer run the full 1/4 mile track, it has been shortened to 1000'. They did this as a result of Scott Kalitta's fatal crash. 1/8th=660' 1/4=1320 Hope this helps lads.
I cant believe that 57 has 383 in it..4:15 w/a 383 Chevy? I suppose maybe if SB2 But if that things A Small Blk Chevy & 57s going that fast, Ya gotta give them alot of credit, 4:15 is flying!
That whine sounds like a sound effect you hear in mid to late 70s horror movies when the stuff is about to go down!

Have a real race
Same shit you would hear in earlier 36 mafia music
Halloween vibes for sure!
Pro Mod is my favorite class. The cars look like life sized Hot Wheels models and sound bad ass.

Yeah, it used to be "Seven Second Door Slammers", now they are in the fours!
@@randolfo12655's
It’s also the fastest class with diverse builds
Nice to see a sbc out there kicking it......
It's the same exact pitch of my chronic tinnitus!!!! That is a ridiculous setup! That thing could suck up a frozen Butterball, and leave a trail of turkey Jerky from tree to trap!..... Friggin' love it!!!
Marlin Tubbs on the way to the strip, his blower ATE a couple Kia sofias & a few Toyota supras for breakfast.
Marlin Tubbs You're right. It's the exact pitch of the ringing in my ears as well. Thankfully it's not as loud!
Mobile
Marlin Tubbs I must admit, I had my headset turned up all the way and I can still hear that whining 10 minutes after.
calculated by that 1/8 mile he just ran a 6.78 1/4 so a very fast car!
That car looks and sounds sooo angry, like it would punch you and take your money.
Why stop there. It will take your flesh too.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
That car has " badass" aura from a mile away
Seems like the big chevy is a little hard to handle down the track but it's sheer beauty. I love that car.
That car is frickin gorgeous, master craft painter, airbrush work is outstanding!
I didn't hear a thing, but for some reason my dog actually tried to jump through a closed window.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LMBO!
Plymouth Fury III
ROTFLMAO
Plymouth Fury III -Lmao
😂
When I'm having a bad day, I watch this video to cheer myself up. Nasty stuff!
@29 seconds in, most beautiful note in the world, hits it so perfectly right before launch.

😂 damn that sucks
You need Jesus and some auto parts....
Jesus built my hot rod? Ministry
Need parts or a funeral? LMAO
I love the chopped roof and stance of that Chefy 383. That corvette jumped the tree a bit early.
music to my ears, what a thing of beauty!!!
His supercharger sounds like the screaming you will hear coming straight from Hell

That's the sound that cheers this gal up
Ridiculous amount of blower whine, hunting like fuck at idle, over the top burn out.
Whats not to like?
Pro Mod with a 383??!! Insane how that thing keeps up with others
Kinda sounds like when ACDC is about to perform and all the fans are whistling hahaha. BADASS!!! 😍
1/16 mile burn out for 1/8 mile run.
Damn that sound wicked as hell
those small blocks can scream like crazy
I am so sorry
Damn, that's a beautiful hot rod!
THAT'S what 50's wings are for?? Supporting spoilers? Great work fellas!
i am 58 now and love it even more than ever
The thing sounds like the original Batmobile! Nice mods on that '57 though.
Wow black 57 is beautiful
Sounds like a jet. Awesome!!

The whine is from the wide gilmer belt squeezing the air out of the groves. Wider the belt, louder the whine.
I AM AWAITEN IN VALHALLA
Now that’s one beautifull sounding promod it sounds like a jet car
Wow that compression ratio must be like 3:1 to hear that must boost
Isnt that the sound the Nazgul make? Love it.
Gotta say Chevy SB rock thumbs up.
Thing sounds like a car alarm... awesome!
That is a pure thorough bred drag car built for speed, all thrills, no skills racing, pedal to the metal & hold on tight 🇺🇸🙏
Im so tired i fell alseep for a couple secs after i hit 'play' but the sound of that blower jolted me back awake right away. Lol wtf. That's loud!
that 57 go's sideways down the entire track lol.. that's a wild ass ride

Boy that blower has a decent sized motor attached to it.
never been a big fan of 1/8th mile races. Wicked Chevy though
Oh yeah i remember this car its a beast i saw it run at the tri five nationals
That the sound of those bald eagles trying to get out that motor!
I seen that 57 pro mod tonight at the spring shootout
The Whine sounds like crap, doesn't mean jackshit.
THAT THING SOUNDS LIKE A JET ON THE RUNWAY ABOUT TO TAKE OFF 0:46
Holy crap that is loud love it
That's no blower sound, but more likely electronic fuel pump"s" . And that 383 ? I had no idea that blower can be fitted into sbc.
elmgrove methodist church love the promo location
Boy if I was in that car I don't think I'd have time enough to get scared.

I tried that, it just quagulate my air, being counter clockwise travel to clockwise vortex direction.
I thought that dude was going to stack it but darn no luck
sounds like slipknots 74261700 intro thingy when its at idle
the whole thing, I think is sick
Michael Duncan

lol
Slipknot,aint got shit on this..
sponsored by the Elm Grove Methodist church.
383 stroker is a beast!!😡🚘
No way!! That's a small block? Gadamn!!!
Sounds like an air leak or bad bearing rather than your typical blower whine?
That car belongs to Jason lands down I’ve went with one of his crew pits son to the races in ozark before the car is so cool
That aint really no 383
Sounds like a jet taking off
Other than the beginning of a Slipknot concert, sounds like a big ass vacuum leak 😜
That must be the Mad Max edition blower
Well, 57 Chevy's are the most beautiful Cars in the world.
What in the setup makes it whine so loud? That is wild.

That’s so sick sounding , god awful fast toooo!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sounds like a topical blower intake vacuum leak
