My relatives, the Norris 's saved many people when a sailboat carrying 100's of passengers were rescued off the caost of Prospect Bay, just outside Halifax in the late 1800's . Awesome history lesson. I actually learned something from this video. I can say that I was part of her construction being a machinist at Halifax Shipyards when she was being built back in 1987. I can say that I was part of the crew of machinist that bored out the stern tubes for the main shafts for the propellors as well as the posts for the rudder installation. Also did other parts as well. Nice to know that I was part of history. Keep on with your story telling. I truly enjoy learning about a part of Canada that I have only stayed and visited just a few times in my 63 years of life. Always wanted to visit Ilse au Morts but never got there. The day I was headed there, (my girlfriend at the time) had to rush her father to the hospital in Corner Brook with a heart issue. We never got a chance to reschedule that trip. Maybe will get to do it sometime soon now that my wife and I are now retired. If I ever get up that way, I will try to look you up and go for a coffee, or in your case a cup of tea.....lol

Thank you for the history lesson. I knew an Albert Harvey and family while growing up in Ingonish in northern Cape Breton. Albert was originally from Isle of Mort. I was told his dad was a hero who had rescued many people from a shipwreck. Albert was sent to Ingonish as a boy after his dad was drowned and the family was split up. Albert was a fine man. He served in the Canadian army and landed on Juno beach on D day. His fine wife Susie and son Clyde were lovely people that I am proud to have known. Albert worked at Parks Canada in Ingonish and fished lobster with his son Clyde. Sadly they have all passed. I had the privilege of fishing with Albert and Clyde for 2 years back in the 80s. They are forever in my heart. I truly relate to all of your videos. Keep living the dream of life in Newfoundland. Take care and have fun.

Lived in Blanc-Sablon for three years a long time ago. Have crossed to NFL often. I have often dreamed of retiring there. It’s still as beautiful as I remember it. I’m glad I found your channel….it keeps my dream alive and I hope to visit again next summer.

Very excellent and informative video. I was in Isle aux Morts this past summer , first time in over 40 years and today I drove the water front in St.John's and saw the Ann Harvey so the timing of your video being there for me tonight was great.
I remember going down to these Islands when i was very young and having a Sunday dinner, not up the Sand cove all the time, i remember the headstones because my grandmother would tell me not to go to close to them, that was a long long time ago thank you for a wonderful story and a fun memory for me thanks for sharing.

What an Interesting story in History of that area what an amazing women. afew interesting artifact's laying around I wish they'd have told us about this women in school going to have to look her up i love history in the variouse areas of Canada your an awesome story telller . it is such a gorgeouse area love the rocky shores. It was so different back then. 50 was today's 80. She lived 49 years, which would be 89 in today's years. Their physical bodies were worn out by 40, just by the strenuous work everyday.

Looks like a great place and we hope to go there next year in our sailboat. Will have to look you up next year when we are there. Colaberation of youtube channels!
There is a grave marker for a George Dicks in the boughs at 2;16 of your video. It is hard to read put I believe it says he drowned in Codroy in 1874. I spent a lot of time around them islands. Spent many cold winter mornings on Tinker Island duck hunting. Great video.
