Horrid display of catch and release at the end. You clearly grasped the fish in or VERY near the gills. If you had no intent of tagging that fish, why would you hold it in such a way??? It is people like you, that give C&R a poor name. Most of your content was enjoyable, but that practice of absolute disregard for the fish is very off-putting. Don't come back and say "oh that fish swam off strong" because it did not. Neither of us can say the fate of it for certain, but what I can say, and with fact, is that you need better handling practices.

I loved your video until I saw the release on that last fish. Prepare your rod and your line properly before you even begin and then play the salmon hard once hooked on your heavy tippet. Get it in asap, keep it in the knee high water and off the rocks/beach, and never handle the fish on or near the gills. Once landed, point the fish up stream and revive it while supporting it. Then release the fish once the fish recovers so it can reproduce and fight another day. Get a knotless rubber net if needed please.

I hope your family and friends came through Hurricane Fiona ok. So sad to see the devastation in Port aux Basques and Isle aux Mort.

Did you know the expression "to get a rise out of someone" comes from fly fishing?

Your salmon are sea-run? I’m so envious! They must taste wonderful 😊
The landlocked Atlantic salmon I caught in New York were stocked by the state department of environmental conservation, from their hatcheries.
The salmon I caught in Vermont were a mix of stocked (purchased from New York’s State’s hatcheries) and native landlocked depending on where I was fishing.
The only thing I ever had to tag was big game. I wouldn’t be averse to salmon tags due to the amount of fish poaching that occurs with our salmonids

Nice and relaxing video ! How is the price to fish for salmon in Newfoundland? In Qc we have to pay for a state license and a river license for everyday we fish on the river. I might come to NF next summer to visit a friend and would love to catch a salmon!

Nice video! It’s easier to scale the fish before you clean it.

Isn’t it wonderful that ships are catching salmon, yet our own citizens can only catch 1 or 2 a year? Shows who the gov is looking out for (hint….not us)

Eric Burt , that a terrible release. First of , he shouldn't have brought the salmon in on beach ,before releasing it, many of the scales which protect the salmon had been beaten of with rubbing against the beach. That salmon possibly died within 24 hours. These people should be fined ,if you hook & release like that, it states in rules that you should bring a salmon in as soon as possibly and release it without taking the salmon out of the water...

You cast a good line, but If you’re dry fly casting, try pulling up on the rod just as the line hits the end. If done right, the fly will stop dead and float down more naturally, instead of slapping into the water. Looks much more natural
