Makes me wonder...
Ah, yes, the Red and blue oni trope! A quick shorthand to show that two characters are related, but have very different personalities. Red is hotblooded, blue is cool calm and collected. It's everywhere in Japanese based media.
I feel like this is 7 deadly sins (anime), where the blue demons are known for their speed while the huge red demons are known for their aggressiveness and ngl clumsiness lma
now that i think about it doesnt Dante Vergil as a Twins has similar baseline to Re:Zero's Ram and Rem? also with the Folklore(wich i think it was a real Folklore in Japan) ABout Red and Blue Devils
The frame data is really similar, but the attacks are very different. Vergil's attacks are slightly faster when he throws them, but lack speed and explosiveness. Dante's attacks are a bit slower but when he does throw them they get more speed, are more explosive and snappier. One goes for efficiency while the other prefers to sacrifice it for more ferociousness and impact force. They reflect the characters perfectly.
I love how they are similar but show tiny differences, like how Vergil's style is more precise and organized, against Dante's roughness/more wild style.
I mean, Dante and Vergils overdrives are reversed, Vergil starts with the two fast ones and ends with the slow one, Dante starts with the slow, then two fast ones. Vergils drive is dantes overdrive, and dantes overdrive is vergils drive.
I have a headcanon that the reason their moveset is so similar is because sparda use to show off his moves to them when they were really young and they just kinda imprinted his fighting style into their minds. Its also the reason why everytime dante got a new weapin2 he'd always do something flashy with it because its what sparda did whenever he showed them a weapon
I love that twins have similarities but are still different. When it comes to using a double edge sword, Dante is easily beats Vergil. Its Dante has years honing his skills with this fighting style so it makes sense he, there’s more range, strength, and proficiency with his strikes. That’s not say Vergil his not slouch, because he does a good job of replicating his brothers fighting style. And same goes Dante with the Yamato, that he can use it but he’s not going to be as good as Vergil. Also there both equal when it comes to gauntlet weapons like Beowulf and Balrog. When comes to Sin Devil Trigger Vergil can easily go into it as his base, while Dante has to stabs self with his Devil Sword. Also when it comes to the Summon Sword technique, Dante use it very basically, as he use them as extra blades to damage his enemies when he swings his sword. It makes sense, since he acquired ability recently, Dante is still getting used to the basics and how to use it proficiently. Unlike Vergil, who has this ability for a while. And demonstrated far more creative uses by making them into projectiles. But I do like how Dante uses the Summon Swords to also defend himself. Goes to show how they can take something from the same technique or expressed themselves in different ways.
also, i think Vergil uses Beuwolf with more impact than Dante. and Vergil is aiming more at efficiency of the fight rather than the amount of damage done in the end, the latter which is more focused on by Dante. but, prowess wise with the greatsword and his greater endurance Dante takes the win, but the win in others goes to Vergil

I like that they decided to give Vergil somewhat of a unique signature when doing these moves. I think DMC3 literally just said “You can do the same moves as Dante” with the Mirage/Force Edge
Kind of? Vergil does use his own moves with the force edge in 3, like he actually uses the Yamato in the regular combo, but aside from that it is basically using Rebellion
What's awesome for detail and personality is vergil is graceful and elegant with his movement very purposeful which goes to his personality the way he dresses all proper and like classical music etc while dante is rough and experienced he does things out of reflex and skill so he appears less graceful and uniformed with his movements it's great for their characters cause they are both absolutely devastating in skill
I like that the illusion blade mirrors dante's moveset a lot, actually. The problem with playing as vergil is that the Yamato, while being powerful, doesn't put vergil in the best places to strike once more after an attack (Example: The Y charge move when you aren't holding it to use rising star has you run PAST the enemy, making it ineffective for ground combo's. ) along with the fact that he constantly feels the need to resheath the yamato. Which makes the Illusion blades (And dante's moveset) a lot more useful for pulling combo moves, along with doing some light damage and staying on target.
I like how Dante's stance is upright orthodox (left foot forward, hands about shoulder height, a common boxing stance) while Vergil fights more like a Karateka. (With the Balrog)
This just proves that Dante and Vergil have had the same fighting style through out all of these games. Dante just breaks his styles up while Vergil uses his dark slayer style for everything.
To be fair Vergil only shown he's good at IAI style which Dante even confirmed in novel that he wasn't pro as Vergil. But Vergil also lack of long sword style IMO.
You forgot Overdrive For Dante Drive is the 1st projectile and Overdrive is the 2nd and 3rd. For Vergil its the opposite - 1st and 2nd are Drive with the 3rd projectile being Overdrive. Also something intresting is that for Dante the first 2 are the slowest with the 3rd being the fastest and with Vergil its the opposite.
IF YOUR'E IN CO-OP MODE WITH DANTE AND VERGIL YOU CAN DO THE DRIVE COMBO ....Just dante start the charge drive while vergil launches the enemy to the air because of the two knock-ups slice before the final blow dante releases his drive to airborne the enemies last and vergil releases it... Simple
@@moomer2675 cuz he had nightmares of being Mundus’ servant back in DMC1 back when he was Nelo Angelo. V’s familiar, Griffin, even confirmed this himself. Also, wdym he ‘begins’ his nightmare. He never said that word.
I would like to add that Vergil’s drive is just what you see here, whereas Dante’s can be extended into Overdrive which adds two more projectiles. They both total at 3. Anyways cool video, love the transition at the end into mission 20.
Actually I think Vergil can million stab longer than Dante, when I played Vergil I kept mashing attack and the stab went really long. I guess now we know which of them is actually better at numbers (not really).
Dante has the Longer Stinger but shorter Million Stab, technically the fastest frames on Helm Breaker, has faster frames on Friction/Starfall and has a faster Air Trick. Just the differences I found.
I don't like how Dante doesn't holster his weapon anymore, it was one of my favorite details of his fighting style, like he was so cool that he didn't even need to keep his sword in hand at all times, always able to draw it so fast that putting it away was a handicap, is how I saw it.
Dante not holstering his sword was a bad choice since holstering has an aestethic reason, due to most of Dante's 1st attack always starts with a movement as if his sword were at his back. Because of that new animation now Dante has a lot of wonky animations (like his sword spawning in his hand).
The force edge/Rebellion move set where very similar since DMC 3 so..It's really with Yamato that Vergil truly shine with me..but they're twins after all.

The Sparda Fighting Techniques that has been passed down to the twins
I just love how vergils attacks are refined and sharp while dante is destructive and blunt
0:23 Remembered DMC 3 final battle scene...My heart stoped for a second
I've never considered how Vergil's Mirage Edge being blue and basically his version of Dante's core moves contrasts so well with his brothers color.
2:47 wasn't expecting such a smooth transition
0:37
"ORAORAORAORAORAORAORA"
"MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA"
I like how Dante's stance is upright orthodox (left foot forward, hands about shoulder height, a common boxing stance) while Vergil fights more like a Karateka. (With the Balrog)
Damn one of the videos that got me into dmc a year ago. Thank you for that
As much as I like vergils stinger in 3-5 nothing beats EEEYAH
Damn, that transition was hella clean. Good job, dude.
0:54 ちょおボイダァ!
こういう動画探してたんで、
ありがたい👍
This just proves that Dante and Vergil have had the same fighting style through out all of these games. Dante just breaks his styles up while Vergil uses his dark slayer style for everything.
To be fair Vergil only shown he's good at IAI style which Dante even confirmed in novel that he wasn't pro as Vergil.
But Vergil also lack of long sword style IMO.
@@sulthanarya3281 It’s alright, his Round Trip more than makes up for it
1:15 I just realised vergil's first drive attack made a V shape
The Sons of Sparda have to leave a Mark some way
Dante : Have a sword, use it
Vergil : Have a sword, use another one
最初の兜割りとハイタイムの時ダンテは地面に跡が付くのが凄い細かいと思ったダンテがずっと大剣を振っていたのが分かりやすい
You forgot Overdrive
For Dante Drive is the 1st projectile and Overdrive is the 2nd and 3rd.
For Vergil its the opposite - 1st and 2nd are Drive with the 3rd projectile being Overdrive.
Also something intresting is that for Dante the first 2 are the slowest with the 3rd being the fastest and with Vergil its the opposite.
This legit sounds like the perfect video to tell if Vergil would be a perfect echo fighter for Dante if he got into Smash Bros. Ultimate
That didn't age well. rip
When you and your brother are done comparing move and it's time dance 2:45
That ending transition was awesome 👌
1:03 weird that Dante didnt had a catch Animation, but Vergil does. Would have made more sense if it was swapped.
The transition with acapella bury the light at the end is *chef's kiss*
1:08 Drive
Dante: I have a great distance
Vergil: I'm slow but it does a lot of damage
Also Dante's Drive can be followed-up twice with Overdrive. Technically Vergil's Drive shown here is the Overdrive
Yeah, Dante and Vergil pretty much have flipped versions of the move
Was waiting for this video since the DMC 4 one
IF YOUR'E IN CO-OP MODE
WITH DANTE AND VERGIL YOU CAN DO THE DRIVE COMBO
....Just dante start the charge drive while vergil launches the enemy to the air because of the two knock-ups slice before the final blow dante releases his drive to airborne the enemies last and vergil releases it... Simple
2:27 Vergil: “My nightmare ends here!”
He says " Your nightmare begins here!"
@@TheeFungUsAmongUs nah I’m pretty certain that he said the word “My” clearly
@@Jknight416 Dante's scream was getting in the way. Vergil says "Your." Why would he say "My nightmare begins here?"
@@moomer2675 cuz he had nightmares of being Mundus’ servant back in DMC1 back when he was Nelo Angelo. V’s familiar, Griffin, even confirmed this himself.
Also, wdym he ‘begins’ his nightmare. He never said that word.
0:56 their body movement is similar
all of their body movements in the video are similar, that’s the point of the video 😂
I mean. They're brothers afterall
Trained by the same teacher aka their Father
ミリスタの所お互いの攻撃を弾きあってる感じでかっけえ
Something tell me that they are twins.
I guess now we know which of them is actually better at numbers (not really).
vergil : dante , give me your moveset
dante :if you want it then u'll have to take it
vergil : you dare use my own spells against me potter
Dante has the Longer Stinger but shorter Million Stab, technically the fastest frames on Helm Breaker, has faster frames on Friction/Starfall and has a faster Air Trick. Just the differences I found.
Evrybody talkin' bout how amazing this was, but can we appreciate how cute it is that they have the same moveset TT
2:36 i get motivated too
I don't like how Dante doesn't holster his weapon anymore, it was one of my favorite details of his fighting style, like he was so cool that he didn't even need to keep his sword in hand at all times, always able to draw it so fast that putting it away was a handicap, is how I saw it.
Dante not holstering his sword was a bad choice since holstering has an aestethic reason, due to most of Dante's 1st attack always starts with a movement as if his sword were at his back. Because of that new animation now Dante has a lot of wonky animations (like his sword spawning in his hand).
The best final...!!!!!!
Nice edit man!!
i cried a little at that transition. so beautiful.
dante with his round trip just says "ight ima head out"
That end was so unexpected, and so appreciated
2:47 ok actually really cool transition
0:30 " ORAORAORAORAORA vs MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA "
Yo the last transition was cool
The force edge/Rebellion move set where very similar since DMC 3 so..It's really with Yamato that Vergil truly shine with me..but they're twins after all.
okay that really cool edited
So basically:
Dante: fast casting, long duration
Vergil: long casting, longer duration
Playing as Dante is like driving a manual car while playing as Vegil is like driving an automatic car
1:25 Rider kick
