How in the world does this channel only have 38k subs? I have left this comment many times. Thank you for making your videos. I almost forgot . You have the best sounding ski. A Japanese seed that sprouted an American Beast.
Niche interest, is the truth. Larger channels have more broad appeal and really large ones appeal even to people outside that specific interest as well.
The intercooler will make a big difference. Has a huge effect on supercharged oem machines. That engine breaths a lot more air at triple the displacement.
I’m very proud of you blokes , you have come such a long way and deserve the recognition and respect from everyone who watches your videos. That V8 is insane, so fast 💨, kind regards Adzy the PWC bloke in Australia 🇦🇺
Try to talk with the florida PWC Dragracers. They may have the answer to improve the speed.. Maybe rideplate, Water intake.. Most probbably jetpump size... They usually cut the rear lip of the hull for increase the underhull air flow for example
I think you will see a fair bit of gain by changing the air filter to something with highr flowrate, and move it so the drive isn't blocking the air running to it. Why not try running double flex hoses up on the shoulders of the driver to get the best possible air inlet :) No matter what you progress with, this project is one of the better ones out there!
The issue comes from the ring gaps are to tight. when under boost the ring expands an has no were to go but to collapse a ring lane very common on N/A engine that get boosted. Maybe the pump needs more impeller or just a whole new bigger pump!
I don’t know but I sort of think they might not make a bigger pump at least in this form factor. Or an impeller with as much pitch as this could handle?
The ski pump yes may be taped an has no other upgrades BUT Glass work is ezy! A pump can easily be modified into the hull. They got this there on the right track. It sick guys keep killing it!
By the way you were talking, I thought you had a catastrophic failure. I think this was a huge success. You have the skills running fairly consistently, and now you can play with setup and “little” things to see what makes a difference. Perhaps I’m missing something (probably) but the rocket like acceleration doesn’t seem ideal for top speed … seems like the pump is holding it back … Thar being said 90+ mph is VERY impressive.
It did have a catastrophic engine failure on the outgoing engine. But the new aluminum engine has been solid. It can go run low 90’s anytime the water is smooth enough. And I know we’re going to go faster once I figure a few little things out
@@JetSkiBrothers Oh yes. The previous engine failed. I kinda had that figured out already, haha.... or highly suspected. It was nice to see a video form you, and I have no doubt that it will go faster and be interesting to follow.
Might be time to look at the hull on that ski, and see if the factory left any hooks in it. You have plenty of power. I would start looking into the hull and pump for your speed. If it's running too wet, it might be time to look into making the first droop snoot for a yamaha pump. Look at what the river racing jetboats, and drag racing jetboats are doing. Yes, you don't have a mixed flow pump, but many of the same principles can be applied.
I suggested something similar a while ago. But I think they (at least back then) would like to keep it to a "stock"-ish pump. Perhaps they have changed their mind.
you might need a longer ski like a sea doo fishpro. the ski now wants to keep launching itself out of the water even at top speed! it has so much power that little setup you got there and a aircooler is a must if you want to run at those higher rpm otherwise you will cook your engine
You’re going great! Only through consistent testing will improvements be achieved and a couple of things are obvious…… it runs well, reliable and now can be benchmarked for performance improvements. Although it may seem slow to you compared to your other high performance skis, but the acceleration is staggering. Can you also consider increasing the pitch of the impeller as well. If it can accelerate quickly, you have a lot of torque in reserve. If you can increase the thrust and only loose a little acceleration the result would be a higher speed. Just thinking the limits you are hitting is not the engine gearbox package.
Is there a way to increase the impeller speed or make it more aggressive? It doesn't sound like the engine is working hard at all. The only limiting factor here seems to be the impeller has done all it can at that rpm.
too cool. easy for me to say, cause I didn't build it, but try to enjoy it instead of chasing a number. And if a number is what it's all about, swap that pump for a prop and then triple digits will be easy. I would ride with pride if it was mine, just like it is, awesome
I love my FZS and it goes plenty fast with the Riva stage 3 kit... It just lacks that V-8 sound. When you get the bugs worked out of this one, sign me up, I'll take one.... Good stuff as usual...
NO SHT. IT NEEDS PROP PITCH AND TWICE THE RPM !!!. 6000 RPM IS 6000 RPM WHETHER IT COMES FROM 250 HP OR 700 HP. THE BEST THING HE COULD OF DONE WAS A BUILT TURBO ? HIGH RPM MOTORCYCLE ENGINE, AND THAT HAS A GEAR BOX AS WELL. THIS BUILD IS SOOO STUPID.
Can you do salient choice and let it have more of an open exhaust above the water and not just below? Our 2 stroke on nitrous makes 90 mph so I know you can do it
Amazing job! So now next up is an Audi R8 5.2 V10 ski rev to 9,000?? Or the older VW Group 5.0 V10 that was in the Lamborghini gallardo 2003-2008?? The 5.0 would sound better so you can do either as far as I’m concerned Haha. Seriously tho please Do it who doesn’t love a V10!
1:40 - Is that wise? Using a wet sump in a vehicle that is going to experience high g-loading, both from cornering and the impacts of coming off waves and jumping? Is that the air intake above the two exhaust outlets? If so, that's a pretty small surface area to pull enough air through for a turbo V8. There's also a possibility that because of the way the air will end up with a dead spot directly behind your back, that the inlet might be sucking some hot exhaust back in to the engine.
Wet sump should be ok, just about all the forces should be directed downwards... Yes, the air intake might be a bit of a concern, I agree. Not sure its a large problem in reality though, but its got potential to rob a bit of power, thats for sure.
I’m not sure what the limit of the pump is but I guess we’re trying to figure that out. Also I’m trying to stay away from e85 because it’s a boat application. From what I understand e85 is not great for boats
@@JetSkiBrothers now that I think about it the impeller/pump are probably not the limiting factor considering the pro racers are going +130 now. You think the gear box you have maybe limited? Also how much power you think it’s making seems a bit modest for a turbo ls.
@@JetSkiBrothers Hi, why would E85 not be great for boats? The only thing I can think of is that the Ethanol in the E85 like to absorb a lot of water if it sits, thus wreaking havoc with the fuel and fueling system... but is that really how you are running this ski? With the leftover fuel sitting in it between the runs?
You may find you are falling off in power at that high of rpm just because you can’t breathe enough through the engine. Sometimes they work better when you put more load on aka higher pitch prop and get the engine back down to a higher torque rpm. I have no experience with your specific setup (probably nobody has) but in the jetski world I’ve seen skis go faster by lowering rpm with more pitch.
Cool project though it'll never best a hooped up brp or yami ski engine in any form or fashion. More weight, same realistic power potential, worse longevity. I don’t see any practical use for all this work.
so glad you guys stuck with it!
👍🍻

You guys gotta bring this thing to the Hydrodrags in South Florida this year
I would like to. But I don’t think it’s going to happen this year
As cool as the ski is, it wouldn't be competitive. Great for displaying the work.
With some hull work and prop tuning it could definitely crack 100mph.
chin up dude, your gonna hit a ton I just know it, good luck, all praise to the gods of speed

What an awesome place to test your progress on this really clever build! So fun to see it getting better! Thanks for the great update!
Well done gents, you will get there in the end I am sure! And how far you come so far is nothing to sneeze at either! 😀
Great Job, incredible content, so happy you guys push through with this project and kept it going. THE BEST 👍
Sir, I think you've created a ski I actually like better than a screaming two stroke! That thing is certified bad ass.
Heck yes... Excited to watch this... going to the big screen!

i love this thing!!!!
This is the working mans v8 PWC.... You need to get rich so we can see the rich guys version.
You need to put a second jet pump in that hull.
All that extra torque has to do extra work, pump twice as much water for twice as much thrust.
fun video

Time for an Arneson surface drive.
Would be very hard to drive. Even in a straight line, it might very well be slower because of that.

Single you're limited on RPM, but have tons of torque, now you need more pitch. You need A LOT more pitch to match the power.
Dude calm down...intercooler, maybe try a few extra vents and try it in the winter when the air is cold...you will hit 100+

OH and are you using E85?
What state/lake are you guys on? Looks like a wild landscape compared to Michigan.
Washington I think. Inland "delta" kind of stuff.
what are the water temps on the pacific where you are at?
Probably around 60 degrees during this filming period but quite a bit cooler now
Just a little insight, boosted engines need more ring gap 😊
V8 wave runners should be a thing come one Honda

Can't imagine that engine holding up at those rpms without blowing a rod through the block. Just hope you don't get hurt. Cool build
It’s fine. Basically every recreational boat 19-30ft has a GM engine that Volvo penta or mercruiser slaps their name on to
It's always a risk but we are trying to keep everything safe.
Those rods are actually very strong and live to some really high rpms. Detonation is what will make them unhappy.
If it waa easy, it wouldn't be worth watching. Good job.
Need a bigger pump, you have so much more torque that is not being taken advantage of because you still have the stock pump.
You might be right. Currently the pump is a 160mm 12 vein stainless steel solas small hub. Being run at 1 to 1.6 overdrive.
Just try a bigger air filter, that little thing looks restrictive.

Like almost all jetski do
Yes
Can always change the fuel to methanol
20:28 Is that an otter?
And 19:10… was wondering what it was
Sb2.2 would rip in that thing
Woohoo
so what is the top speed record now ?
I think this is pretty muich it so far?
Target Speed?
100mph
Triple digits
Prolly need to put a Hemi in it
Dude,I like the build,LS is such a garbage throw away engine.Smart move with that.
To bad you can't run a direct Drive turbo.
Shut Up And Take My Money where can I get one
Turn the boost up and Water meth injection!!! Goodluck!!
set max rpm at 6500, not low 7000s your begging for explosions with that rotating assembly
just slap some methanol in it and a tune.
