I started mewing around 6 years ago when I looked in the mirror and was unhappy with how my jaw looked. My jaw angle wasn't looking great. 6 years later I have made mistakes while mewing, but the developments I have gotten from it are undeniable.
Edit: People were asking me for what my mistakes were and so I decided to briefly talk about that and also expand on my experience with mewing.
My mistakes were:
1. Not resting the entire tongue on the palate.
2. Trying to force my tongue onto the top of my mouth instead of using the swallowing technique to create a vacuum, so that it sticks by itself. (trying to force it by pushing your tongue back results in you not being able to breath)
3. Not relaxing my jaw. The first video I watched said that I had to "clench down a bit" in order to see results. Don't do this. if your teeth slightly touch or don't touch when relaxed then you're doing it correct. Incorrect jaw postures (the way your upper and lower jaw sit relative to each other) slightly changes the way your teeth feel when biting down due to muscular adaption, which is also how you can know when you're doing it right. IF you're doing it incorrect biting down feels very narrow and if you're doing it correct the teeth fit perfectly within each other when biting down. I've never heard anyone talk about this though, so it could be different for you. Another edit: your jaw should not be drooping all the way down, nor should it be clenching. Try to find that range between slightly touching or slightly apart
4. Swallowing and chewing incorrectly. (See video).
Finally I want to share my results, although this comment is pretty long so I'll keep it brief. I want to start of with that *mewing is not a wonder drug* , it is simply the correct tongue posture for your jaw to grow correctly. If you have a shorter ramus on average, mewing might not fix that, although for many it can. I had a short ramus, while so it appeared. Mewing made my jaw a lot straighter and what appeared to be a short ramus was actually just a result of mouth breathing. It's kinda hard to explain. My face also appears way more forward grown than it did back then.
What were your mistakes?
@@CultOfSol777Yeah tell us plz.
it's called maturing snd your face structure changes when you get older. Mewing is just a tongue posture , it won't change your jaw.
See my edited comment for my mistakes
@@Matt-bk2rt I deleted my previous comment as I had made a pretty stupid mistake. Yes mewing does not change the bone density/length of your jaw, it does however change the position of your jaw. Well, mostly. Mewing restructures your jaw bones to sit correctly, which might slightly alter it's appearance, although it won't make any large differences in how large or wide the bone already is.
That being said, bad jaw posture does not fix itself with age, rather it only does with posture. In my case I had a short ramus due to mouth breathing every time I slept and frequently when awake as well. As I started mewing these changes suddenly went away.
Mewing is no wonder potion, but so many people have incorrect posture, that mewing might grant them satisfying results.
Thank you for this. I’ve always been on and off of mewing because I couldn’t get tongue to properly stick to the back of my palette so I got discouraged easily and let go of it. But I’ve now gotten an obsessed mindset about it after trying the suction technique and actually feeling the back of my tongue being able to reach the back, only by a little, but enough to give the feedback to my brain to reinforce that behavior. Will definitely stick to it this time
What I don't get is how do you breathe when the tongue is up against the back of your mouth? For me that closes my airways and I can't breathe.
you are mewing all the way back to your throat and you are doing it too hard so what you should do is mew but to a pint where you could still breathe comfortably @@dotheyfloat9961

Answer to the question: Teeth, especially wisdom teeth, are like the concrete footings of the face. Extracting them (Quentons case) will cause the palate to get smaller and collapse, which causes a droopy looking face. The other twin, who kept his teeth, just made more space for them by mewing, which built a robust facial structure

I'm here to share my results with mewing. I'm a 25 year old male.
9 month update: Essentially I have become almost unrecognizable. Before learning of mewing and always mouth breathing due to a condition of my ribs being pushed in and keeping my lungs from fully expanding from a car accident, I had no inner u of the face development and my jaw did not exist. My face looked drawn and chubby with a low body fat and my outer U was overdeveloped. I had sleepy eyes and looked much dorkier. After mewing and work from a chiropractor, my inner u has started to really develop, sleepy eyes are gone, and my face is starting to really look symmetrical. My jaw line increased immensely and have a full developed jaw line now. I think I will now be able to keep my wisdom teeth, as I can tell the top of the palate of my mouth has expanded. I recommend combining mewing with the chewing of jaw liner gum 1-2 per week for a couple of months and it really makes a noticeable difference. My family and friends had mentioned a difference without me asking them about it.(11 month update) dentist has confirmed me being able to keep wisdom teeth after one year ago being told I need them removed or will suffer repercussions. Highly recommend this

Thank you for this video, it has restored my faith in mewing as someone approaching my mid 20s
Did not know I was mewing, but it explains why my siblings had to wear braces and I had near perfect teeth alignment. I've played since elementary school a woodwind instrument so had to train my subconscious to breathe with my diaphragm. My parents also raised us with manners, meaning never chewing mouth-open. I guess these things are key in jaw development. For who starts late. Just tape off your mouth and practice breathing thru the nose. It will work miracles in the long run

Thank you❤🙏
Another thing I wanted to add is that in PRI (posture restoration), there can be an imbalance in the body where your diaphragm, the breathing muscle, can be larger on one side causing further imbalances throughout the body, even up to the neck and jaw affecting placement and structure. I would definitely look into it as mewing can be just one part of the puzzle, but along with chewing, we breath everyday automatically. And if we are breathing wrong, that can affect our overall function as humans.
100%, people tend to disregard the brains and nervous system into how the body positions itself. Neal Hallinan is a great person to watch, just got to go into PRI with an open mind to how the body is one system and anything effects everything else
@@SirKillah Neal is outdated and behind the times. He still believes people can't be stuck the opposite of Left AIC. I blindly followed his advice years ago, it only made things worse. I finally have begun to correct my issue (failure to push out of left side). PRI as a whole is kinda behind the times. There is not a one size fits all solution like they seem to think.
yeah basically like a car whose 1 tire is half flat. it won't run well
How can you know if your diaphragm is imbalanced and what can be done to help?
@@Limonmantequilla just by taking a deep breath and and noticing whether or not the air is filling up one side more than the other. Taking a breath as deep as you can so you can feel your rib cage expand, and you might notice one side being more tight than the other. Also doing this while looking in the mirror, if one shoulder is lower than the other, that side with the lower shoulder could be the side of the diaphragm that is smaller and compressed. Look up Neal Hallinan and Zac Cupples “breathing” on TH-cam and you’ll find some great informational videos.
I have been mewing for 2 years now (CORRECTLY), haven't seen any big changes.
But still i have got better nasal breathing and wider upper palate.
I will say hitting gym for 2 months changed my fave 10 times more than 2 years of mewing.

Its genetic bro, some people had different facial structure
May wanna give pictures of your jaw
So its possible for your palate to get wider
Informative video.
As for the twins: Quentin seems to have a more protruded mandible when compared to Ben at the end. It is hard to tell who exactly got better results but judging by Quentin’s well developed jaws I would say proper tongue posture allowed his maxilla to expand and resolve any crowding that might have been present. Also providing a firm base for his bone structure to grow naturally and make his face more harmonious.
🎉 Congrats! 🎉

This whole mewing thing is fascinating especially since it looks like ive been naturally doing this my whole life. Never realized that there are people who's tongue and mouth rest in a different position.
I had 17 teeth extracted (not including wisdom teeth) and the rest braced. It's crazy that I could've just mewed and had a massive natural jaw.
17 teeth???? Godamn
How
now you have implants? and why they extracted them?
I am 45 and have been mewing for 6 months by creating a vacuum and sealing my tongue to the roof of my mouth. Chewing gum everyday, eating with my mouth shut and tape my mouth closed at bedtime. I have seen great improvement and can feel the changes in my mouth. I have more room for tongue now. My sinuses are staying clear more often now. My teeth are also moving back to a more favorable placement. My facial bones have moved back to a more favorable placement as well. I have also read James Nestor's book Breath. It is a very good, informative read. Thank you to both doctors of the Mew family. Your information and knowledge is invaluable. Forever grateful.

For how long you do it? You just keep the tongue up, swallow and relax the jaw? My upper palette is narrow, i have to force my tongue up😢
@@melissaproietti4253 Do not force your tongue, use Dr. Mew's swallow technique to get the tongue vacuum sealed to your palate. Do so, as much as you can all day. Literally, stop talking unless you must so, you can focus on keeping the tongue vacuumed to the palate. The palate will widen, mine was narrow too. Your tongue will get tired, you are having to restrengthen the muscle. Yes, relax the jaw while the tongue is sealed to the palate. I also practiced opening my mouth while maintaining my vacuum sealed tongue to my palate. This helped me to learn how to relax my jaw and keep my tongue sealed to my palate.
Tape your lips closed at night to help keep your mouth shut while sleeping.
Also, get the free pdf book in the description of this video and go to page 78 and use the techniques in there to help open your palate a lot faster. I did not have these techniques when I started out, I wish I did. They are still useful for me now, thankfully and I am using them. Most importantly, you must be consistent. Think about your tongue constantly.
Have you had any wisdom teeth removed?
@@almostRyanMacleod no. I have 31 teeth. I had a permanent molar removed and my wisdom tooth took that space.
Oh wow, I started mewing a year ago and wanted to check if I'm doing it correctly with this video. But now it makes sense, why I have so narrow teeth. I have several allergies and a narrow nasal channel, that's why I was a mouth breather. 🤯🤯 never thought this could be the cause
I’d say it goes even deeper…the body needs to be trained specifically to promote symmetry and symbiosis for movement in general. The side effects of this will trickle up to the face leading to more symmetry there, harmony etc etc
Treat the body as a whole
Finally a Long Video of proper Step by step Research of Correct Mewing other than just 10 sec TH-cam Shorts. I hope it Will be helpful as I am Just Starting it.
Ok here's my experience of mewing since the age of 17 (turning 23 next month). IT WORKS. The difference in the way I look now compared to when I was 17 is massively noticeable. Maybe not to someone other than me who has pics and videos of my side profile from back then but let me put it this way. Some time around mid-late 2021 all of a sudden I started getting a lot of attention from girls, starting going on a lot of dates, I started getting compliments from women and actually feeling good about the way I looked. I'm not a good looking guy by any means, my face is very asymmetrical and twisted but in terms of forward growth there is a definite difference. Keeping my tongue pressed flat against the roof of my mouth stopped being a conscious act many years ago. No memory of when it stopped lol but it's just habit now. This is a shit explanation but yes it works and it's worth it. Also my nasal breathing has improved drastically too
Thank you for sharing your personal experience with mewing. It's great to hear that you have noticed a significant difference in your facial appearance and have experienced positive changes in your dating life.
Keep up the good work and continue enjoying the benefits of mewing!
@@MI-qj6xr it's not so much pushing up but rather it just naturally rests there applying soft pressure which won't cause any discomfort at all and ultimately makes it an easily achievable habit.
What kind of asymmetries?
Also if you dont mew properly and like 1 part of your tongue is pressing harder then another you can create asymmretries(But its fixable if you apply pressure evenly again)
If these asymmetries are from before mewing but they got exaggerated when you started mewing then that also means you mewed unevenly(But much of the asymmetry could still be reversed)
However if these asymmetries are caused by an external factor like sleeping only on one side or chewing only on onside it can be easily fixed as well.
But if these asymmetries are caused by a facial injury from the past or due to genetics then surgery is needed
It might also have to do with puberty and maturing. Your chin will grow when getting older. And being lean will also help.
I was actually mewing my whole life but when I actually got to know about it, I didn't realize that my tongue usually stayed up and that was my tongue position and unfortunately I started following yt vids and stuff which made me so confused and conscious about my tongue posture like I don't know where to put my tongue, to properly close my mouth, to breath through etc. Everything got so messed up that I used to constantly think about it but finally yesterday I realized that before whenever I rested my face, my tongue was automatically on the upper palate of my mouth. Damn I feel so stupid and sad, i lost a lot of face fat due to this and my face got longer 😭 now I'm just staying at my normal resting face. I hope it gets normal
Unfortunately, me too bro
that is amazing, you are good to show people how to do corectly

the interesting thing in these change pictures is that they keep their head differently
when you change your head balance you also change balance in your posture
so you can keep your forehead higher with confidence and without your whole head falling forward
I'm more interested how it affects face and jar muscles and if it also helps loosen tight neck muscles
Why dont they teach this in schools?
Because nowadays schools aren't supposed to better you.
Bcoz mitochondria is the power house of cell
Because my ass is juicy
"I should reply that the very recognition of the reliance upon free will in the pupil is the first mistake of the old system."

Don’t listen to these people that will find any reason to quit or will jump at the idea of blaming their genetics. I would also add that sleeping without a pillow allows your body to develop the proper neck posture and makes lip seal much easier
Never had neck problems ever since I stopped using a pillow.
I saw a video on instagram that was very interesting to me. This lady said that drinking pasteurized milk and eating processed grains block your airways in the sinus area because it creates an accumulation of mucus (everywhere in the body). The result is that people can't breath through their nose properly anymore because it is blocked through mucus. Result: people start mouth breathing. She suggested quitting dairy and gluten. BUT.I have been lactose and gluten intolerant for years. I now live on a farm and started eating an ancestral diet. This contains raw milk and whole grains. Guess what. I have no issue whatsoever with them. Why? Because this is how those foods are naturally. Unprocessed. No pasteurization or refining of grains. Raw milk contains the enzyme lactase so you actually PROCESS the lactose in milk. It contains a whole array of minerals, vitamins and trace elements you NEED. So wouldn't it make perfect sense that because of the industry trying to rid us of the food as it IS in it's natural perfection, we got excess mucus, blocking our airways, making people into mouth breathers and deforming their faces? I have been lactose intolerant to pasteurized milk since I was two. I have been mouthbreathing since my childhood and had to wear retainers for 4 years, pulling 6 teeth out to be able to fit all of them into my mouth. This definitely rings a bell to me. More then one.
I had one of those spacers as a kid and remember always going to get it adjusted. Never had braces and have nearly perfectly straight teeth. Naturally I’ve always rested my tongue on the top of my mouth and I get compliments on my jawline all the time. Not really sure if I need to mew but I might try it out.
THANK YOU I always wondered why my teeth are crooked. People say it is caused by genes but my parents has perfect teeth. This is giving me hope that I might be able to fix my teeth without getting braces.

having “hypertrophied” facial muscles is probably not so bad, because they do not experience stress with additional weights, but only constantly work under tension. Hi! Great info! I began mewing in 2019 and published a summary article about mewing in August 2019. I'll publish another mewing article soon and refer folks to this vid. My body/brain integrated mewing into my subconscious within a week of beginning. Mewing feels like "home". I implemented this practice as a part of my DIY facial care routine, but it is so much more than that, it is how we are meant to hold ourselves and breathe. I would love to receive a copy of the book if that's still possible; I look forward to checking out the available mewing information. thank you
How big of a difference did it make in your face?
I have a deep bite and short chin and i've been trying to mew for 4 years now but everytime i do it my jaw hurts and feel so tired i'd have to stop. I struggle so much with it and i don't know why😭
don't push, rest ur tongue on the top. dont clench your jaw, just let your teeth touch slightly or even not touch
I@@yallknowtheresnofear1199 I have over bite and i can't swallowing can i move my jaw forward for swallowing😢
that "survey" we make when clicking the first link to download the app is the dumbest survey for an app I've seen
Never knew about this, I'll still try starting and maintaining these habits even at age 28. Hope it helps
Hey, has it worked for you? Just checking.
How have i not seen this before?? I always thought i was doing something wrong when following random influencers instructions

What would you recommend for someone who has sleep apnea and septum deviation (probably related)? And what about tonsils, will removing the tonsils help with proper breathing and swallowing?
if i tape my mouth - i might suffocate (a win-win tho)
@@bruh-ch3hb i didn't know my demons have yt accs 😢
about the apnea and septum- I've heard proper mewing (ofc if its severe then maybe not in a short period) can help, tho I haven't tried it yet but u can search up ppl talking abt their experiences
as for the tonsils, they're part of your immune system so it's best if u can keep them if they're in good condition (take care of them alr ;-;)
this comment is just an idea for u to search, you know more abt ur health than me
have a nice day :)
Proper tongue posture and small tongue exercises can keep the tongue up during sleep which can also help apnea! Use a neti pot, nasal strips, and once you get good breathing through the nose tape your mouth at night and see how the apnea goes! Also stop mouth breathing asap!
Fantastic video
Wild how they attribute narrow palate to a certain width in mm even though the size difference between humans can be enormous.
Quentin's face is more developed while Ben who got traditional orthodontic treatment seems to have a flatter facial development.

Answer to the question:
Quentin has a better facial structure than his twin brother Ben at the end because his mandible ( lower jaw ) sticks out ( protrudes ) a bit more than his brother's , this was possible due to the mewing and the treatment given by Dr. Mew, whereas for Ben removing his Wisdom teeth made his palate smaller and the teeth to fall inwards
Well I'm waiting for their response even though I'm late 😬
Very good video, good job
Taping of my mouth really work for me. Now im trying mewing
When i had my wisdom tooth removed, my side profile got messed up…keep as many teeth as possible to maintain aesthetic jaw.
we widening our jawlines with this one🔥🔥🔥🔥
I don't mew but I'm a nose breather but can breathe through mouth too only when I need to. I'm kinda curious about having cold and then your nose is completely blocked by mucus, I find it hard to breathe when it's blocked, thus I have to breathe through mouth.
i get runny nose easily under cold temperature so yea this is the main hurdle of trying to only breathe through nose. i get so many nights of uncomfort because i cant sleep with nice nose breathing.
Well, a cold only lasts for a few days, so it shouldn't have any serious effects.
Great video ❤

when i'm pulling with my thumbs should it be in the molar area?
Yes, you can feel where it feels narrow.
@@batcactus6046that's true ,and you also shouldn't touch the teeth
Thanks for the seine book 😃 and if course the brother who worked with Dr John Mew turned out better 😁
Thanks for this informative informations
If im mewing all the saliva builds up below my tongue, how do you get the saliva up? 2. Bow do you create the vacuum?
Swallow it
its all in head I used to think my saliva was building up too but It was just the fact I wasn't used to mewing
Can ypu do a video about astmmetrical mewing and how to fix it?
Fr bro
Yes ,I hope I don't forget it
In my experience, when I get asymmetrical, I just stop mewing for a bit and allow my face to realign itself. Then I start mewing again, but more carefully and gently.
I just wanna advice that if your gonna mew please do it properly and with proper research.
I didn't so now I'm suffering from bite problems(discomfort when my mouth is resting), gum recession and a wrong swallow pattern.
Pressing your tongue to the roof of your mouth and pressing at different points does work. I have increased and lifted my cheeks using this method
Its not about pressing, just let it apply soft pressure, this is what moves bone
Also, mewing world course dont use thumbpull, they use FACEpull, its very very different
Although, i did thumbpulling for sometime and yeah i had some small results, facepulling is way more effective
Whats thumbpull and face pull
Lol it’s almost like y’all never heard of google.
OK so how do I know if I'm pressing it right? I thought I should check with my finger and my tongue in not at the top like I thought, my sister do it very easily and I can't, I think it's easier for me to do it when I'm lying on the bed because I tried it and I felt my tongue touching the roof but it was still hard to do
@@9l0t say sing this is the right position hold it and breath through your nose
everytime you remember about mewing do the same step
soon you will just do it automatically
@@kaua8619 when I say "sing" it Doesn't completely stick to the roof, that's OK?
For the face pulling or thumbing. Where exactly do I put my thumbs on the palate? Near which molars?
I am curious, thanks!
I have been mewing for 6 months with wonderful & beneficial results so far.
Edit update: I found the answer to my question in your free booklet pdf that I got the link to in your video description. Thank you for such a great booklet. Page 78 and 79 contain just the info I was looking for specifically. Thank you for your hard work and generosity.
Have u done the towel pulling? i can't figure it out what's the use for. I'll do the thumbing, and thanks to you now i knot that i don't have to pull the sphenoid xd
Also have u had strange pains as the book says may occur? I feel a little pressure pain on the connection of the palate
@@nicolaslagos8749 I tried towel pulling for the first time last night 9.6.2023 and I is not my favorite. I will probably do that very minimally. I think it is a faster route to moving the whole maxilla. However, I did 3 sets of 30 seconds in addition to the thumbing exercises. When I went to bed my neck hurt quite a bit. I was very uncomfortable for several hours until I was so exhausted I finally fell asleep. I opted to not take any pain meds. My neck is a bit sore today as well. However, I do feel a difference in the way my maxilla sits today. I do not see the difference but, I do feel it. Also, my palate seems to have stayed widened with the towel pulling. Next time, I will take some pain reliever with my food before I do the towel pulling again. I think I will only do that twice a month. Maybe more if my neck doesn't feel as sore.
@@nicolaslagos8749 I have not had strange pains. Only the neck soreness from the towel pulling exercise.
I do have a high pain tolerance according to other people's opinion so, I may not be the best individual to ask regarding pain issues. I do encourage you to stick with it. Slow it down if you need, you will still make progress. I also encourage you to dive into Dr. mew's videos. His videos have helped me tremendously.
@@nicolaslagos8749 last night I was reflecting on your question. I guess I had some tenderness in my palate while I was mewing hard to widen it for the first month. However, it seemed mild to me and it didn't bother me too much as I pretty much forgot about it.
I started mewing in about 2018, and noticed the crack in the upper palate of my mouth expand. Now it's wider than it has ever been, definitely getting results, over the age of 25.

I had asthma before so i was used to mouth breathing,3 years ago i stopped mouth breathing and as of now for some reason my right maximilla is much pushed forward than my left one, my right side profile looks much better
Despite of improper palate growth ,the asymmetry mostly appear when you use one side of your teeth more than another side due to tooth aches.
So before anything to do make your chewing habitat correct
I just naturally had my mouth like that since I was a little kid
Mike Mew deserves Nobel prize fr
I got a couple questions
1)wull taking four teeth out make you less attractive ,and will mewing fix the closing upper jaw instead (if young)
2)what is correct teeth posture as its never metioned
3)how do you swallow correctly
4)is tape needed if you can mew whilst sleeping regardless
Thanks looking foward to replies ^-^
Hi here's the answers :
1-taking teeth for orthodontic treatments like using braces for solving crooked teeth is not recommended ,because the result will be smaller upper palate .And Mewing result is more on moving the maxilla forward and upward ,and has a slight effect on making the palate wider, even the orthotropics use the palate expanders like homeoblock for this purpose .
2-the position of the teeth is like that while Mewing :
The upper teeth should place in front of lower teeth with a slight touch .
3-to swallow correctly ,you should only use your tongue to lead the drink or food to your throat (rewatch the video ,you can see the animation about it).
4-you don't need the mouth tape if you are not mouth breather
Tysm in reference to question 2 should front teeth touch bottom in a flaring way (light contact)
Also the side of the tongue shoud they touch the molars
@@kngcushy7061focus on big picture aka perfecf swallowing. So mike mew cheesy swallow loook o TH-cam.

Can mewing change my facial structure even though I have a permanent wire retainer glued to my front 6 teeth? Should I think about removing it?
i wouldn’t risk taking your retainer just to have your teeth shift 💀
@@jxmal Well they claim that it can change the facial structure to look more attractive, I was just wondering whether the risk would be necessary to achieve it

Mewing helped me when I didn’t place directly up but more upwards and slightly above teeth
