I volunteered at an animal rescue in TX after my husband passed away in 2010...the baby goats were always making me laugh and giggle...helped me get through that first year.

I am reminded of when we had a mare foal, and it was so cold that winter up in NJ. We lived over an unused business space, and my father brought in straw and put it on the concrete, and mare and colt stayed down there till the cold spell left -- about 2 weeks, I think. Thanks for the memory! It was so long ago (about 1956, I think) and I hadn't thought of it in years! Kir in Tennessee

I was watching a program about a man and his team who build treehouses. On one of the shows he was building a treehouse and a lady who reared goats gave him the chance to milk one of their goats. She brought him a newborn goat to hold! It was beautiful! You can use one of my favorite names. Charlie, Buster, Winston, Shadow, Smoke, or Smokey, Miracle would be a great name too. When we had goats (only sheep now as goats always got out and we are off highway) we realized, the minute they are born, it's like they don't have the will to live in the cold!!
