You are such a good inspiration to me. I have had to start my homestead by myself, divorced, 2 surgeries. but I buckle down and I am getting there. Garden, fruit trees, flowers, and 30 fir trees and bushes, started bee hives, built my raised beds, at 63 yrs young. My dream to retire on this property/ homestead soon. I get stressed that I am behind. I want chickens and a hoop house, time and $$ first. Lol...getting there one day at a time. Thank you for being real, honest and fun.

I just love you. Not only do I learn so much you brighten my day. I work from home and it is a good thing there aren’t any cameras. I laugh with you, answer your questions and cringe when you hold the snakes to remove them. Thank you for sharing you knowledge

My 3 yo granddaughter loves gardening with her Nani (Urdu for mother’s mother). She loves picking and handing out peapods and we snack as we weed. Point out to her which are weeds and she’ll get after them without mistakes!

I love how you described the "black woven weave landscaping material." lol .... for now, I'm sticking with leaf and pine needle mulch, but that's partially a financial consideration. A lawn care guy brings me the mulch. Win-win for the two of us.

As always you are very encouraging. My husband and I are in our second year of marriage and home ownership and this crazy world has got me worried about getting my gardens growing. And TH-camrs, bless them, have helped me formulate, focus, and forgive time constraints and mistakes to keep moving forward in the right direction to grow a sustainable and healthy life for our future family.

My uncle used to use grass clippings in his garden. He also used cardboard and newspaper in the walkways. He just made sure not to use anything with colored ink.
I have a ton of volunteer orange and yellow cosmos that have been reseeding themselves for several years. I just love them.

Seeing your cosmos just made me realize that I pulled ALL of the ones I planted, thinking they were weeds. 😭😭😭 I've never grown them before. I haven't grown a lot of things from seed before, so I've been letting everything go, trying to figure out "hmmm... weed or flower?". I'm so sad now. I guess I know what I'll be outside planting tomorrow. 🤣 This was such a lovely video. I appreciated the bit about doing what you can with what you have. Our homesteading dream was crushed before it ever came to fruition. So I'm just going to keep trusting in our Father and I'm going to grow and bloom where I'm planted while I wait. 💕

I've got a whole list of seeds and plants to look up after this video. Thank you! I'm 66 and in the UK with just my garden space in front of and behind my house,. Not exactly a homestead, but even there we've put in loads of herbs and fruit bushes., plus we have a good apple tree and a good pear. When the grandkids want a snack, well, out you go and see what you can find! This spring we're going to get more veggies in. Looking to grow upwards, as we don't have the space to let them ramble. Right at the end I saw you making that plantain poltice. Yes! I discovered that one summer in Albania ( yep, that stuff is everywhere) and showed it to a few people. It works on cuts too, and speeds up the cell growth to heal them up/ Love it love it love it!

Patara ~ you're a braver woman than I am ... I don't do snakes!!! My daddy was born in Sevierville (& I still have lots family down there) & when I was a little girl & we would go to visit my Grandpa Whaley we would go through Pigeon Forge. Well, I know that it is a BIG place now, but back then (in the late 60s & early 70s) it was just a 2 lane road & a few little tourist shops on the side of the road. Thanks for bringing up some wonderful childhood memories ... & thanks for your garden tour!!

Cattle panels are 70 dollars each up here. I'm going to use the wire mesh used in laying concrete pads. Only 17 dollars a panel at Home Depot. It looks like cattle panels only it's not galvanized so I can just enjoy the rust patina is will get or pant them.
