Looking at your videos .. i got my first 79 chevy stepside when i was 22. Wrecked it couple yrs ago.. just found a new frame. Starting from scratch .. love to see some new content from you and your truck . Its been a year since you posted
Nice looking truck. I had a '74 C10 for several years and it worked well for me. It was old and needed repairs periodically, but nothing too difficult. It was set up as a flat bed, but had black wrought iron rails, like those found on a front porch. Puke yellow. Yours looks so much better. Mine had a 350, but the only thing performance about it was the headers that were from a Corvette. Sadly had to retire it because winters with salted roads were not kind to it, and the frame started getting to be like Swiss cheese. I didn't want the middle to drop down towards the ground while driving down the road. The steering knuckles were concerning too, as iron was flaking off them and they looked a much less meaty then when new. A mechanic told me he had seen steering knuckles fail from rusting too thin, but thought mine still had some life. It sat on a bit of an angle as one of the rear leaf springs was broke. Near the end it was loud; it had a muffler hanging underneath with wire, but there were no pipes connected to the inlet or outlet of it, they had rusted away. If I was pulled over and the cops asked if I had a muffler I could honestly say yes. By that time I was only using the truck to take my motorcycle ice racing on a river not far from my house on Sundays during the winter. All the neighbors would hear me going to "church" Sunday mornings. Sold it for $50, the guy wanted the hood. He drove it away. After I thought maybe for that small amount maybe I should have kept it for a yard work bench. The flat bed being a good work surface that I could easily move around the property. Probably a bit too "Samson and Son" like. Thanks for reminding me of those days! Hope your truck serves you well.
