    I bought the 2006 Shadow Sabre new and did not know what I had gotten until I broke it in and took it to the California coast and then up to Montana, Idaho and back to northern California. I rode it for another year and then gave it to my brother, because I love my brother. He still rides it. I"ve not ridden the bike in 11+ years, and still, when I go to sleep at night, I'm feeling the power and responsiveness of this bike as I drift off, flying down the road. What a ride.

    I bought an 04 Sabre back in 2012. Gave it to my buddy in 2017. He stopped riding in 2019 and let is sit out in the weather for 5 years. I got it back from him this year. Put a bottle of sea foam in the tank and a new battery. After a couple minutes of cranking she came back to life! I changed all the fluids and spark plugs. She rides just as good as she did when I first got her in 2012. Truly a marvel of reliability and engineering by Honda. I’ll never let her go again.

    I have a 2006 VT 1100 Shadow Sabre~ and after 10 yrs I have had No issues with the bike. I and others keep wondering why Honda stopped making them! And why they didn't upgrade this model to fuel injection. Overall, a great bike that is good for long distance and around town. I'll never get rid of it.

      H-D effectively threatened Honda with a lawsuit for the Shadow Sabre 1100's "Potato, Potato, Potato" sound, with it's single crankpin engine. So Honda changed it to a dual crankpin. Gone was the loping "Potato, Potato, Potato" sound and vibration..and with it the strong sales. Mine was an '07 model with the smooth, dual crankpin engine.. and it didn't sell, Pity as it's a fantastic bike.

    I just bought my first bike, the 2004 Shadow Sabre 1100. Had never ridden a bike before taking the safety course 2 months ago on a 250 Suzuki. Knew I needed a bigger bike and this one looked pretty good. I am very happy with it and trying to learn more each day. Haven't had it on the highway yet, but that will happen soon. I am seeing so many comments on YT and other places on what a great bike this is and it makes me think I got a winner here. Now...to accessorize!

    If I had never made a big blooper before I could complain about it being a V-twin and not a V-four, but I have so will just say I loved your test ride of this bike. Your customer may ask where you lost the other two exhaust pipes though, lol. It looks like one hell of a bike for the money. I think though that I will have to go with something lighter weight so I can handle it in the driveway and garage with my artificial knees.

      LOL I do have a Honda Shadow 1100cc and it is a V Twin (2 cyl Not 4) However it does have 4 spark plugs 2 per cyl lol 1100 cc and they did come out with fuel injection on the shadow in later years. They replaced the Shadow with the Rebel witch is more computerized options road conditions and cruise control options. I prefer the Shadow over the Rebel it is more comfortable for hwy. driving to me, it is a little heavy but I don't want anything less than 500lb for hwy. driving, it can be windy were I live. I have also had one knee replacement and a knee repair on the other knee, yes it bothers me some putting my feet down almost stopped, and I have back problems too, lol and 60 years old, but that would be on any bike. My Honda does have a large fuel tank and gets 50-60 Mpg in 5th gear however you need to be going 65 mgh or more for 5th gear. It is a very comfortable bike. My Shadow is full dressed, even has a backrest for the driver when I don't have a passanger and I do drive it on gravel roads sometimes. don't let life get you down, live while you can. lol even though I have a nice car, my shadow is my main wheels.

    These sabres are just plain awesome

    • @joedoole3527
      @joedoole3527 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Indeed the Sabres are awesome cruisers, I really enjoy riding them. They are not V4 engines though like he said, it's the same 1099cc Vtwin as on any other Shadow 1100 variant the difference is the Sabre models get lower gearing to give them slightly better acceleration. That's what makes the Sabres feel more powerful then other Shadow models, but in fact they don't make much power at all in stock trim. My 06 Aero 750 with custom drag pipes, Airbox mod, 4* timing mod and Stage 2 jet kit made 44.3 HP at the rear tire and 48.6 TQ. My cousins Sabre 1100 with K&N filter & V&H Short Shots made 51.8 HP and 67.1 TQ at the tire. When we run From a stop we are pretty evenly matched untill about 40 MPH where he slowly starts to creep about 1-2 bike lengths ahead of me by the time 80-90 MPH rolls by and we let off. If we switch bikes I jump him out of the hole on the Sabre and keep a steady 1-2 bike lead from 15 MPH on up, so I think I'm just better at launching than he is. I also ran his Sabre against a 1200 Sportster with pipes/fuel tuner and was dead even until about 60 when the 1200 started to slip away. (Sabre has run a best of 13.74 in the 1/4 mile and 1200 Sportsters with a good rider can go 12.90s stock so they aren't slow bikes)

    VT1100. That's a V-twin. The V4s are V"F"s. ie VF800 and VF1200, V45 (VF750), and V65 (VF1100). I have a 1988 VT1100C with a 4-speed trans. Before i had a 1984 VT500C with a 6-speed. The VTs are V-twin with four spark plugs (twin per piston) and typically shaft final drive (with the exceptions of the VT600s and a few VT750s)

      +Sean Kerr No worries. And your favorite part is my favorite part. My 1988 VT1100 overheats and is missing a nut on the front exhaust header. It is truly a fun ride. It is not a bike that a first timer cannot handle. I am a first timer and I feel completely comfortable on the bike. To date, a month out of MSF class, I have put in just shy of 600 miles on the bike. I’ve even been on the interstate. Plenty of state and US routes. I stopped looking for my next bike. I've been looking at these, the 1100 v-twin in these have a twin pin crank, makes them smooth and they have good power, then you have the vtx 1300, which is single pin, sounds more like a Harley, but not too much more power than the 1100.

    • @paulcrocker4553
      @paulcrocker4553 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sean Kerr yeah, I'm a Honda guy, I have two Honda cars, first bike I ever rode was a 81 cb750. I was into the sportbikes, but moving on to cruisers, so I've been reading up on the Honda cruisers. That 1800 vtx is also a twin pin. The twin pins run smooth and make good power. The only thing is that they sound lawn mowerish. The single pin 1300/has that Harley "cammed" potato potato sound. Still makes decent power, but would make even more if it was twin pin. The 1300 is what I'm leaning towards in a cruiser.

    • @paulcrocker4553
      @paulcrocker4553 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sean Kerr the great thing about the twin pins, is because the rods are on separate pins, they are essentially balanced and sooo smooth. This smoothness results in longevity and reliability. Having the roller top end makes this a bike great for someone who doesn't want the maintenance side of bikes and just wants to ride. Downside is the sound, it's not bad, but you definitely know it's a metric v twin.

    • @davids6533
      @davids6533 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sean, I just found your channel and recently heard of a twin pin crank. Do you have a video of a review on a bike with the twin pin crank? I've never heard one that I know of and don't know the difference. Also, in your opinion, what years are the best Shadow 1100s? The Spirit seems to be my favorite. I don't know if they still have carbs or if they went to EFI. I don't care for high maintenance bikes. I had a Harley once and had nothing but trouble out of it. Thanks.

    • @paulcrocker4553

      +David S this bike is a twin pin crank. TH-cam a vtx1300, as those are single pin. the 750s I believe are as well, and the ace 1100 I think maybe a single.

    This model Sabre was not a V4 it was a V-twin with two plugs per cylinder. The Sabres from the 80s were V4 engines

  • @dane5896

    It's a VTwin, not a V4. The 80's Saber had the same V4 as the Magna.

    My first bike I bought to start riding bikes was a 1985 Honda V65 1100. It was way to much for me to learn on so I went out and bought a 1982 Yamaha Maxim 1100 which was easy to learn on and sold the Honda to a friend. Then I got my self a V Star 1100 and now my 4th bike is this Victory V92C

    You're a sales man and you don't know that's a V-twin, NOT a V-4. The Saber is the same engine as the VT1100 Spirit, just geared lower for faster takeoff, and the fatter fenders. They are also a 5 speed. The Spirits had 4 gears until 1997, then they came out with the 5 speed gearbox.
