I am a soprano who never made it but it is not about bitterness. I think she is AWFUL!!!! I miss the lilting, pretty tessituras of Natalie Dessay, Dawn Upshaw, Kathleen Kim, Daniela Fally , Sumi Jo & Patricia Petibon. If she, Pretty Yende & Lisette Oropesa are the future of opera, we are SCREWED!!!!
It is awful. It's awful I wasn't there when she was performing in WPB! You want awful, just listen to me when I'm in the shower. A memorable nightmare you'll laugh about forever!

She sings in a very classically trained way, that I actually haven't heard in YEARS! Not since Sutherland, Caballe, Price, etc. Unfortunately the singer you listed were not of any true great calibre. My hope is that talent such a Nadine Sierra may actually be able to take us back to the true "Golden Age" of Opera! We've had enough of the "New Face" of opera for over 30 years now! Its time to get back to the TRUE form. Hopefully Ms. Sierra and others can help get us there.

But differences in tastes and opinions is what makes for an interesting world. Even after being dead for over 40 years, there is still much online debate over Maria Callas' singing. Some love it, some hate it! (I myself have been in both camps. First several times, I hated her voice, but eventually grew to love it.) I say, let those who love certain singers be free to love them. And those who dislike certain singers are free to choose to not listen to them.

Ho capito. Comunque io dicevo rispetto a come canta adesso. Non era proprio pessima all'inizio. Io ho sentito le sue primissime registrazioni e aveva davvero un'ottima natura vocale, poi ha iniziato a declinare quasi subito. Il fatto è che ha debuttato troppo presto e non era ancora pronta tecnicamente. Peccato.
