Praised for her vocal beauty, seamless technique, and abundant musicality, Nadine Sierra is being hailed as one of the most promising, young talents in opera today. She was named the Richard Tucker Award Winner in 2017 and was awarded the 2018 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Having made a string of successful debuts at the Met, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra national de Paris, and Staatsoper Berlin, she has become a fixture at many of the top houses around the world. On August 24th, 2018, her debut album, There’s a Place for Us, was released under the Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Music labels.
Nadine is very good and getting better all the time . She can take on the best European divas or dive if you want to use the italian spelling of the word.

She sings what she wants without any respect for what Donizetti composed. She won’t last last, snc neither will opera if it continues like this.

Carolina Veno: More likely Horne was going to the same Sierra was singing. Sierra has a hard sound to her voice; there’s nothing soft or lyrical about. I don’t believe Horne would have too complimentary about this voice if she disliked Beverly Sills.
Gorgeous. Gorgous. Probably the most gifted soprano out there in terms of a stunning instrument with endless potential and promise. But she needs more ribcage expansion and less over opening of the mouth. And then the palate space as her resonator, not 50-60% of it being the over mouthing and using too much jaw for volume and “big” vowels. Bad habits that Will be taxing quickly with a career as busy as hers.
This is awesome! I love that your response is so technical. I noticed her ribcage not expanding at all (as well) and am wondering if it is something you can also hear in the voice, or if it just a physical sign of underutilizing support systems? To me, her voice sounds supported (sometimes overly so) but I do notice that she is not taking a very expansive breath. I also enjoyed your comment about her palate space-You can hear that her voice really wants to spread and almost does, and if she sang in a more domed and resonant space, it would be a much more uniform top.
What a stupid production, what happens when Edgardo goes to the fountain to meet her ? and later in the mad scene, when sitting on the table caressing a glass of red wine, does this mean that she’s drinking Arturo,s blood? High time these trendy producers were informed what the text is and made to produce real productions around it. I imagine this rubbish went down like a lead zeppelin with the Venetian public.
Frits Burghardt Incorrect. The modern pronunciation of “silenzio” is three syllables: /siˈlɛn.t͡sjo/, however, great divas of the past have pronounced it as three and four in this aria
Nadine Sierra is a pretty girl with potentially a beautiful voice , but her singing lacks refinement and control . Ordinary singing is not enough for the beautiful arias . I would like to say I enjoy listening to her sing , but I can hardly bear to listen to the end . Not many even GREAT sopranos can compare with Callas or Rosa Ponselle and this girl is as yet nowhere near . She needs a good teacher to take her in hand .

Hi! maybe you're right but you have to consider that she is singing and also acting... i mean, she is doing SO MANY actions in that single aria... In the past, singers did not have to move so much in the scenario like they do now. Also you have to listen to Lisette Oropesa singing this aria. She's young but talented, and has a strong technique singing, i dare to say that she's better than Nadine in this aria. (sorry my bad english)
... and she is young, and still developing .....I agree that she needs to continue to grow --- not only in skills, but as she gets older her body will settle also, which will affect her voice Do you think Callas and Ponselle came out of the womb with fully formed voices/technique? 😁😁 There is No perfection in live art....only excellence. Why not enjoy the journey she takes? Perhaps 5 years from now she'll be Amazing, perhaps not But, its early to be throwing stones 😎😎😎
@@rugby8-Philadelphia As I said she needs a good teacher to take her in hand , that is how to achieve excellence . @vdarte Opera is in great demand today and the pool of singers comparatively small . I weep for young singers today who are engaged to sing testing roles their voice is not yet ready for . In Italy I went to a small promotional concert to hear a young girl sing . She belted out every aria so that one couldn't hear a central focus of her voice . I spoke to her afterwards and said to her you are trying to sing too loud , you need to sing within the capability of the voice , it is a beautiful voice we want to hear . She replied , " You have to sing big to sing Verdi or you won't be engaged ".
@@rugby8-Philadelphia Strangely enough some singers are born with exceptional voices that achieve excellence with comparatively little training . Ponselle started singing at a very early age and graduated from vaudeville to sing Leonora in La forza Del Destino with Caruso at the Met. when still very young . In former days singers remained in training until their teacher arranged auditions when they were considered ready to perform in public . Giuseppe Di Stefano was born with a beautiful voice , was largely self taught having comparative few lessons . With better training the exceptional quality of his voice might have lasted longer .
Nice voice but so boring....and the top notes are a bit flat...and the lows are missing. Like most singers, she only focuses on unwritten high Ds (in this case)....or Eflats. The written score is optional.
Try Lisette Oropesa's July 2018 Teatro Real Madrid complete LUCIA DI Lammarmoor which you can find on YT. Let me know how you react to her work. Cheers!
It's a beautiful light voice, maybe too light for Lucia, but clearly the voice itself is better than many famous ones that are around. However, there's some issues: first, her emission is often nasal, then her singing is a bit monotonous; she doesn't bring much with her interpretation; trills are approximate at times and she often uses "H" in legato and coloratura, which can be disturbing. Otherwise, pianissimi are nice, the voice is rich and she portrays a young, girly Lucia; just needs more work. She's very far from the diva image they are trying to push forward.
Roar roar . It’s all lyric soprano plush and not really clean like coloraturas. When Lucia is sung by lyric sopranos with an extension it’s smeared often. This sounds more like Puccini.

Che bella sorpresa, mi è piaciuta molto. Spero di poterla sentire dal vivo. Brava brava brava
Spectacular. A fiendishly difficult aria that she makes look easy.
I was blown away! What a great soprano and what a great performance!
Bravo, Nadine! Wonderful performance! I like it very much!

Yes, who is the mezzo ? Should it not be a minimum, to quote her name in the description at least ?
개연성 있고 집중할 수 있는 공연

Where’s the Mack truck?.. oh yeah… it’s stuck in her vibrato. 🙄 if this is what the opera world has today, it’s tragic.
