I started looking for skin care on youtube and ended up following the actresses and models who don't know anything about skin care but keep harping throughout the video, I am beautiful and my skin is so smooth blabla and sell very expensive and not so good creams and lotions. I finally found a genuine channel. You deserve to be at the top whenever someone types skincare on youtube search box🤗🤗

Having worked at a medical spa (in administration), I can say that majority of the "consultants" were more interested in making their commission than necessarily selling you what you needed. As opposed to when my mother saw a dermatologist and was given a list of suggested products that she would purchase elsewhere, including house brand products.

@@TheBudgetDermatologist Thank you for posting. I learn much from you. I am 51, but take very good care of my skin. Since I'm not s millionaire I cannot afford all great skin care products, but I appreciate your tips and dupes we can use that work.

Hi. This is the first time you have come up on my page. I really enjoyed this video. Then a thought I was having wouldn't go away so I googled it. I typed if drugstore brands and medical grade brands have access to the same ingredients such as L'oreal owning Skinceuticals why would anyone buy the more expensive. That doesn't make sense. But the answer I received did. Yes, they both have the same ingredients available to them. The difference is how much of that same ingredient they put in the product. Then it was broken down to how many bottles of the drugstore brand you would have to buy to equal the same amount in one bottle of the medical grade brand. That make perfect sense. The drugstore does not use anywhere close to what the medical grade contains so their price is going to be significantly less. The total amount of money you would have to spend plus how much longer it would take to see the same results was a very compelling comparison. I am just glad I did the research for my own knowledge!! If you have anything to add, please do! Looking forward to your upcoming videos! Thanks, Janet
Thanks for the comment! Looking at products can be super overwhelming, even for experts! It takes a long time to sort through the marketing to determine what you are *truly* getting out of a product. And often times I find....the simple and approachable products and brands work the best! Thanks for following along :)
I am so amazed and excited that I found your channel. I'm from Costa Rica. We have Retin-A available over the counter in drugstores, however, skincare products are extremely expensive. Next time I fly to the States I'll look for these products. I love your content. Thank you for your transparency and for acknowledging that expensive skincare products are not available to everyone.
Thank you so much for this information! I went to an aesthetician who recommended me try Medical grade skincare. Looking back she was looking after her pockets instead of my skin! 🙁
Thank you for all this information. I just discovered your tube channel. Am a 69 year old chick with dry aging skin and have had skin cancer twice from mega tanning in my teens when there was no such thing as sun screen. Am trying to get back into taking better care of my skin other than basic cleansing, moisturizing, and sunscreen.
I love to hear this! I specialize in skin cancer surgery in my practice and I hear this from my patients ALL the time!! I am glad you are taking time now to learn about skincare and protect your skin. It is never too late to start!
Absolutely phenomenal video! You are by far the best educator on this platform! Thank you for your time and knowledge and above for providing the general public with vital information!!!!
Absolutely loved your video. Thank you! Would love to see anti-aging skincare for more mature skin types over 50. ☺ I'm 49 yrs old with combo skin so I need a separate eye cream for my dry, crepey under eyes it's hard to find a good option that is affordable but effective.
Thanks for the feedback and for following along! You are in luck, my next video is all about anti-aging routines. I can't wait to share it. It is full of great tips for how to build a complete anti-aging routine as well as specific products that are tried and true for anti-aging. Be sure to check that out - should be up next week!
I am 55 years old, but look 35-40. Extensive skincare routine for 20 years😁. I use ROC Retinol Correxion, Garnier Skin active and the pricy $65 Sunday Riley Auto Correct. My least favorite is the Auto correct, it doesn't seem to penetrate, just kind of sits on top of the skin. But i will finish the bottle because I paid $65 for it😕 I love the ROC consistency, much lighter and thinner, and seems to penetrate much better. The Garnier is fantastic as well. Both are better, in my opinion, than the Sunday Riley. Good luck in your quest!!
I really enjoyed this video. I have been looking for this comparison for about 3 years now and this video explained everything I needed to know. Thank you for informing us.
I LOVE your content! You talk about very important things that nobody (or just a few) does. This proves everybody can have an effective skin care routine without spending a lot for no reason.
I had noticed that marketing is never straight forward with the "this product reduces wrinkles." But they go around it with "wrinkles are visibly reduced" and it always seemed a bit sketchy. Thank you for the fantastic explanation, it makes a lot more sense now.
Thank you ❤️ This is the best and most useful vid of this topic I have ever seen. So many people make us believe in, that ONLY medical grade skin care works. That we can’t live without it. Because of they are most often people, who want to sell it us...

This video is honestly like a high-grade A+++ research article. As someone who is studying in data field, yes the protocols on the data acquisition process really matter. I mean 50 participants for a sample study is actually very little. Im not an American, Im a Malaysian, I adore and trust Neutrogena because they have a long history in this industry, great data resources, excellent research protocols and amazing R&D teams. For example, their rapid wrinkle repair regenerating cream was the FIRST stabilized OTC retinol in the US. Plus, they're the FIRST brand in the US to successfully stabilize Avobenzone in the sunscreens. I believe there is no law or regulation in any country says that skincare products must/should be expensive in order to work. And please, make your skincare routine simple!
Can you please make some videos on hair growth. How to help with hair fall? How to grow your hair longer and faster? Natural hair growth ingredients? How to get thicker hair at the scalp? Sorry for all the questions I’m just really stressing about it.
HELLO, You are an amazing teacher. You explain everything so well. I love your HONOSTY and I appreciate you doing all the hard work. I’m 71 and sat in the sun and tanned for years. Haven’t done that without major sunscreen in about 20 yrs. I take excellent care of my skin. I still have pores, sun spots, wrinkles, I always buy the drugstore, some I get high end ones at TJMaxx. I’ve recently been studying skin care( I’m a makeup junkie too) 😂 I’m going to check out the products from your list, ( I’m in agreement with you and continue to use more affordable skin care. Thank you for speaking clearly and distinctly. I enjoyed finding your station. So I’m a new subscriber!! 🔔
It drives me nuts when my derm's med spa advertises "medical grade sunscreen" on their social media. All products claiming to have SPF have to have active ingredients listed on the packaging and are regulated. When I ask them what exactly is "medical grade sunscreen" since all actives in ANY product claiming SPF have to be approved, I do not get a reply.

Love this video! I am an esthetician by trade but work as a trainer and beauty advisor at a high end dept store and have for years. I hate that I have to almost mislead people but and I have recommended drugstore products quite often. My customers thank me and trust me for doing that. I tell them what you just stated so I am so glad to see your video confirming this. I do have a question for you. What is your stance on fragrance in skincare? Ive heard mixed views from dermatologists on this so I would just like your take on this.
Thank you so much for following along! I almost always try to use fragrance free products b/c that is one less chemical that could potentially irritate your skin.
I think RoC is a reasonable product. I believe it does have fragrance and parabens though which is bothersome to some people. Just an FYI! Thanks for the question!

I am so glad I found your channel, because you are very passionate about skin care and teaching. Thank you for taking the time to educate us. The way you explained is amazing and your knowledge is greatly appreciated. Can you please recommend a good mineral sunscreen to wear under make up? Love your channel and subscribed
Maybe your right .. but I just want to say I've tried a lot of products from drug stores and nothing compares to the ZO skin health products , I just feel that i wasted years trying to save money buying and trying new drugstore products and it shows in my skin that didn't worked except sunscreen,1 month of using ZO and my skin is changing ! All I know it is worth investing in your skin .
Great video, you explained it in a way that's easy to understand. I think this is also a good video for explaining skincare in general. I follow some cosmetic chemists on social media, and also a podcast, but they don't usually recommend products, or at least products in the US. I have a fragrance sensitivity and also want budget skincare. I'm excited to find your channel!
I find myself taking notes during your videos. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I would love to know your thoughts on Coconut Oil as a face moisturizer? In weekends when I dont wear make up I cleanse & grab the coconut oil sather on my face. Am I doing anything positive?
We can somewhat see the formulations since the ingredients are required to be on the label according to percentage from highest to lowest. We just don't know the exact amounts used. As far as monograph drugs, it's not so much 'shady marketing', but what the companies are allowed to say according to the FDA. So even though we might know that certain ingredients work a specific way based on past research and use, because a company is doing a 'new' formulation, they have to go through the whole FDA approval process (which can be costly and take a long time) to be counted as an OTC drug and show it has an active ingredient or they use 'softer' wording and save the time and money for products that are considered safe to use without review. Otherwise, I think you are completely correct. I've never used 'medical grade' skincare, but it sounds like a marketing term that makes consumers willing to spend more money.
I found your channel and wish I would of had your videos years ago. I have had Acne all my life. Extremely bad in my teens years but now I seem to have a bad blackhead problem, especially on the left side of my face. I don't have a skin care routine, except I do use a Retinol day cream and night cream, but that's it.
Anything for lightning hyperpigmentation? Has gotten very stubborn post menopause despite staying out of the sun. Make-up not covering anymore. Over the counter skin lightners not working 😢
WOW amazing,I am so glad to know all this very important information, thank you so much. This is exactly what I have been doing, changing my skin care over to CeraVe,Neutrogena, love the New Neutrogena gel cream, fragrance free.My skin has improved & looks better than when I was ordering expensive skincare . Just found your channel today and ran out to Target to get all the goodies! ( based on the anti-aging video) -- just a friendly fyi - the vitamin c serum link does not take you to a vitamin c product. :)
What do you think of AlphaRet from skin science, it is a medical grade cream that has glycolic acid, lactic acid and a retinoid, I just started using it and I love it, it is a bit pricey though but I am seeing results after a week.
Did you here of macrene actives? Very pricey but it does have over 50 active anti aging ingredients and totally clean. Is it worth the splurge if you want the best clean anti aging treatment.
Funny thing is every drugstore product I’ve tried including The Ordinary did absolutely nothing for my skin even when dermatologist recommended Cervae or Cetphyl these always made my skin more oily & clogged my pores so I guess everyone skin is different. I wish they worked cuz the $ I spend whew but my skin does look good so I guess I can’t complain to much 😊
@@Adhara740 hi I use zo skin health exfoliating cleanser I alternate with the gentle cleanser as well from them. Than I use the complexion renewal pads for my pores I get black heads because I have combination skin. My moisturizer lately has been the Herbivore phoneix oil & than I use Elta md tinted facial sunscreen 🧴 😉
Thank you so much for making this video! I always get do overwhelmed with the options. Do you have any recommendations or can you make a video on eye creams? Especially if we have dark circles :) thank you!
Medical-grade is a term that is not very regulated and is often used to mislead the consumer into thinking the product is better or worth more money. This is often not the case for all the reasons I listed in this video! Thank you for watching :)
Thanks for the great video. When reviewing your favorites under the description portion the link to the budget vitamin C serum brings up the LaRoche Posay lipikar body cream on the Ulta site. Is there a way you could redirect it? Thanks.

The Budget Dermatologist : I am your new subscriber today ! I've watched your videos to have ideas on what to buy for my face. Today is different, thanks for the info. ❤
I am so glad I found your channel, because you are very passionate about skin care and teaching. Thank you for taking the time to educate us. The way you explained is amazing and your knowledge is greatly appreciated. Can you please recommend a good mineral sunscreen to wear under make up? Love your channel and subscribed
Very informative!!!! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for clarifying this subject! Can you make a video on using Vaseline as skincare?
Your videos are really amazing, so informative and well thought out. Thank you so much and best wishes from Ireland x 🍀
very detailed and well explained. Thank you, Dr. It does help me understand a lot.
Thank you for posting this. I do understand this concept better and plan to save myself some money.
So happy to have found you! I love the detailed information and recommendations! Thank you! ❤
Great information. You and Dr Dray are the best !! Thank you.
Exactly
I found your channel and wish I would of had your videos years ago. I have had Acne all my life. Extremely bad in my teens years but now I seem to have a bad blackhead problem, especially on the left side of my face. I don't have a skin care routine, except I do use a Retinol day cream and night cream, but that's it.
Just discovered your channel and love your videos! You deserve more subscribers :)
Thanks for watching! More to come soon :)
Thank You 🙏
Here in India, Over the counter products and Pharma grade products usually costs the same. So Pharma grade is preferred because why not?
Just discovered your channel. Youre my new fav on dermatology related.

Just found your channel today and ran out to Target to get all the goodies! ( based on the anti-aging video) -- just a friendly fyi - the vitamin c serum link does not take you to a vitamin c product. :)
Great video It’s so great to have the info available. Thanks
You are so welcome. Thanks for following along!
What do you think of AlphaRet from skin science, it is a medical grade cream that has glycolic acid, lactic acid and a retinoid, I just started using it and I love it, it is a bit pricey though but I am seeing results after a week.
Love all your videos, please make more. You are absolutely the best. Thank you for sharing xoxo roseingeorgia
Finally.. it seems like i finally find video that can help my skin problem
The link for the Vitamin C serum is the same as the body cream...
I wish they worked cuz the $ I spend whew but my skin does look good so I guess I can’t complain to much 😊
May I ask what you are using?
@@Adhara740 hi I use zo skin health exfoliating cleanser I alternate with the gentle cleanser as well from them. Than I use the complexion renewal pads for my pores I get black heads because I have combination skin. My moisturizer lately has been the Herbivore phoneix oil & than I use Elta md tinted facial sunscreen 🧴 😉
L'Oreal has the nicest cosmetics for ageing skin also.
Face reality is a professional line and is at a great price point
Yes, Estée Lauder is really buying up many companies
I just discovered you and am going to watch all your videos. Can I ask what your view on the company "Curelogy" ?
What’s your opinion on SkinMedica? Effective? Worth the splurge?
This was both educational and passionate
Thank you so much for making this video! I always get do overwhelmed with the options. Do you have any recommendations or can you make a video on eye creams? Especially if we have dark circles :) thank you!
Very impressive video. Thanks a lot! 😊
Thank you so much for your effort and clear explanation for us😊
I'm not from the US. What is meant with medical-grade products? Brands like La Roche Possay is considered drugstore?
Medical-grade is a term that is not very regulated and is often used to mislead the consumer into thinking the product is better or worth more money. This is often not the case for all the reasons I listed in this video! Thank you for watching :)
Thanks for the great video. When reviewing your favorites under the description portion the link to the budget vitamin C serum brings up the LaRoche Posay lipikar body cream on the Ulta site. Is there a way you could redirect it? Thanks.
Bravo by leading as an example doctor!
"question everything. don't be a sheep." lol! literally learning so much from your videos. thank you!
I like you so much. you’re very good to explained all this things,,,yes everything you said is true cosmetic industry’s even reaping people for such a loooooong time...thank you to you ....been realizing now how I wasted money to this.
