I’m extremely pumped to get a million and one varieties of sunflowers in the ground! The green ones are calling to me this year! And anything dark purple or blood red in color as well. And I’m general, I’ve got this 30x72 greenhouse that needs to get used!!!!
I am most excited about snapdragons. I fall planted way more for this coming year. I like that they can stand alone or with bells of Ireland for an easy bouquet!
I’m always excited to plant more thymes and basils. There are at least 70-80 different basils and thymes. I grow around 250 herbs. I use them in my herb shop for medicinals.

Hey There Nicole! I just love flowers so much and am so glad I found you. We live in Zone 4B too, but are in Gouverneur, NY which is an hour North of Watertown. I am a small backyard gardener who loves flowers and I love to grow food. All your great illustrations of flowers you have ordered has sent my head into a tailspin wanting to order them all!! Hehehe! I do have a bit of cash I come into once a year and use it to invest in growing. I watch your videos with my mouth hanging wishing they were growing here!!! Hehehe !! I think you are such a great teacher who I have been learning so much from! Thank you so much, Nicole for being such a fantastic, sweet, humble, and beautiful person!

I bought seeds for the Queeny Lime Orange this year and started them a couple of weeks ago. I thought things were going well but only about 9 of the 25 seeds have come up. Super disappointed, but not giving up. I just potted up the taller sprouts and have the rest on a heating pad(as in for your back, lol) in a dark room. I hope this gives any stragglers a little push. Last year was our first time seeding zinnias, inside, and they did great but I was disappointed at how small the flower heads were so after watching Laura on Garden Answer I found out about the Queeny series! You have continued the inspiration and courage for snapdragons for this year and maybe lisianthus for next year!

Just finished planting ALL my tulip bulbs! Only 400 of them for this girl, "oh how cute!" No where near the 10,000 bulbs you're planting! Can't wait until spring to see if the squirrels left any HA! Happy Planting , go get dirty! Your flower friend Artist in a Garden!
Have you ever planted the Night and Day Snap Dragons?? I just bought those seeds a couple weeks ago and can’t wait. They are supposed to have a slight spicy smell to them!
Hope you have a fabulous season this coming season! I can't wait to see my tulips, daffs, and alluim that I am planting now. I am on an acre and half, just a home gardener, not a pro like you! Love your energy and cute personality! Hugs from NE Ohio.
Started a tray of Lizzies 6 days ago and just today the first sprouts are coming up. They are perennials in my area (8a) so I’ll pop them outside in early Spring. I have been in love with them since 2012 when I randomly ordered starters online from Burpee. I am also super excited for the purple twist snaps, I hadn’t thought to check Geo and ordered from Chiltern across the pond because they looked so cool. Cannot wait!
So much to be excited about! I was starting to write a book here, but erased to be concise. New dahlia orders; New peonies (18) planting as they arrive; experimenting with composting in place in 2 raised beds; new perennials- foxgloves, astrantia, erygium, maltese cross; want to get mini glads; new lilies planted this year - thanks to you, Nicole! I hope to start a very limited number of seeds indoors; growing tomatoes again; caladiums, calla lilies and coleus; asters are flowering so beautifully in my window box. New irises and more! Thank you Nicole for being such an inspiration!
I want to roll around in those snapdragons like a cat with catnip...i cant be the only one... I did buy about 150 'early' mix naturalizing bulbs. Grape hyacinth (including pink and white) dwarf iris, tiny narcissis. I can wait to watch spring happen.

Okay, techies: on your laptop, open Google, open GeoSeed catalog, highlight your possible new fav, right click "Explore" find your new fav in some other list or in Images... (one device). This works for anything for which you need more info.
The Eryngium should do well for you as a perennial, but they don't like competition. They do better without frequent watering. I planted Zinnia 'Illumination Pink' in 2020 and was very pleased. Being pleased with a zinnia sounds a bit plebian, but. Being so cold here, so late; perennials are important to the mix. The white columbine in the early part of the growing season might be a best white other than a tulip or the Beauty of Moscow lilac (which only opens white tinged with mauve-pink).
@@FlowerHillFarm By choosing among the various species of lilac, I think it would be possible to have 2+ months of lilacs. Syringa x prestoniae 'Donald Wyman' blooms 5 weeks later than S. vulgaris. And with proper culture Miss Kim and Korean lilacs could add additional cuts. There is also the Japanese tree lilac that blooms mid-July. It is very tough and it might be possible to get it to multistem with some bad pruning. Miss Canada is a great pink. These I have mentioned do not harbor powdery mildew, which with peonies is a concern. Also, you might want to peruse internet info on the Mackinac Island Lilac Festival.

love your excitement and love your videos...I'm starting new next year, I've always done perennial beds around our farm but next yr is a new adventure for me, fresh cut flowers! By the way, love the painting behind you...who would be the artist?

I grew cupcake zinnias this past year. I grew the white, lilac, purple, and pink varieties. I wasn't favorably impressed. There is a certain percentage of the cupcake varieties that are singles. In my case I had a single pink zinnia that had the "scabiosa head" and a single purple zinnia with a "scabiosa" head. The rest were singles. I wasn't able to seed collect from the pink variety, but I did collect seeds from the purple variety. I'm hoping that next year I'll get more "scabiosa" head purple zinnias, since I selectively bred it so to speak. Hope that helps. I'll be following your process with interest.
I keep trying to request a catalog from geo seed, but something is wrong. It's not working. Is that how you order the seeds from them? Request a catalog?
They have a catalog on their website that you can open right up and look at. There are no photos. You have to either email them your order or phone them!
The cupcake/zinderella zinnias disappoint me every year. I always plant them thinking I'll get those thick frilly, full flowers as advertised, but they're all singles, flat, and pretty small. Underwhelming. I've tried different seeds/suppliers, same story. 🤷
Can we just appreciate the time and effort to put all these pictures in? Wow thank you

I wasn't able to seed collect from the pink variety, but I did collect seeds from the purple variety. I'm hoping that next year I'll get more "scabiosa" head purple zinnias, since I selectively bred it so to speak. Hope that helps. I'll be following your process with interest.
Interesting! Thanks for the input- I'm so curious to see what happens!
Have you ever tried growing ranunculus before? I want to be able to grow this so bad but have yet to be successful.
I tried last year and it got too hot too fast. Giving it another go earlier this year!
Can you plant snapdragins in spring?
Yes, I plant them in spring-- as cool flowers.
I keep trying to request a catalog from geo seed, but something is wrong. It's not working. Is that how you order the seeds from them? Request a catalog?
They have a catalog on their website that you can open right up and look at. There are no photos. You have to either email them your order or phone them!
Hi Nicole, are you going to plant any of those snaps this fall, or is it too late because of the frost?
I fall planted about 700 snaps I already had before getting this order. It is too late for me to try any of these!
When will you sow your lisianthus seeds?
Last year I did January- I'm thinking December this year.
@@FlowerHillFarm I am thinking late Nov early Dec. Last 2 years we had snow into late May. Great for poppies 😄 but not so sure about others
Do you till your wildflower field or just scatter seed & let it go?
We till it up and then scatter.
And i thought im buying way too many seeds))))
LOL- and that's just my GEO order...LOL
What is Geo?
Hi Judy. Geo Seeds is a popular place where people order seeds. Their website is geoseed.com
Ill help u. No charge
Maybe we should have a Flower Friend Volunteer Day?
I think I just figured it out
You did it! Also- a volunteer day sounds great LOL
The cupcake/zinderella zinnias disappoint me every year. I always plant them thinking I'll get those thick frilly, full flowers as advertised, but they're all singles, flat, and pretty small. Underwhelming. I've tried different seeds/suppliers, same story. 🤷
That's always a bummer. It's my first time with them!
