Oh oh oh oh oh!!! I can give you a helpful "seed saving tip" for gather now- sort it out later. Honestly my seeds are still waiting to be sorted out because of Christmas. I piled these up. Ready? Coffee filters! Take a stack in a bowl and grab a pen. On a non-windy day when you notice seeds need harvesting Write the name, type and color and fill up your filter. You can stack them up and (here is the beauty of it) they will dry in a stack because there is still enough airflow!!! Seed saving is one of my fav parts of growing!! I become obsessed! SEEEEDS!🤪

This is great advice! I have trouble picking stuff, putting it in a container, it gets mixed with similar looking plants (happens a lot with dried zinnias and basils for me), and then I can't remember what they are and can't identify them positively. I usually end up naming them mixes or put a ? next to what I think they are lol.

@@tawanajeffries3610 I do that too with bulk seed saving. Just that Coffee Filters are cheap and easy to grab.

I save lots of seeds(uk) every year , mainly for a local annual seed swap. The different colours of flower seeds indicates different colour flowers. I’m going to grow stocks again this year but will grow them a lot closer together as I felt the single flowers didn’t need so much space.

The cat is totally something to be thankful for!!! The mice will not get to your seedlings!!! ;) Miss you, I'm ridiculously excited and happy for you and all the success you have worked very hard for!!!! You were born for this kid!!! I LOVE that you have to put a curtain up! That's exactly the vibe you want for a nursery!!! People buy more as they stay and chat while meandering!!!
I worked at a nursery as a cashier, rt out of highschool and the next 6 summers! I saw a comment on situating your things for sale at the register...yep, pack as much stock as possible and I promise it will sell!!!! I watched it. :)
I love this, it's so funny that I talk to you as a friend I've known forever...I think flower farms are just soul sisters!!! ;)
Congratulations on your transition from the beautiful, cozy porch to a full blown nursery owner!!!! I can see how excited you are, there's actually a speed up of your voice! Ha, that's so fun! Just so happy for you and your family!.....and thanks for going FIRST... I'm taking notes my friend and I am so excited for my own endeavor this season.
I'm selling produce and flowers. It's my first time getting myself out there! I honestly don't care about the money, I'm addicted to the look on a woman's face as she first sees her bouquet! I really am, it's the way their faces instantly light up and they are glowing. It's truly a beautiful experience. I guess that's why I will not stop. I've decided that instead of the usual freak outs associated with first year jitters I'm going to take time to enjoy all the new moments. It's supposed to be hard work, with a gorgeous pay off!!! Count me in!!!
Congratulations Nicole, the place looks incredible and you are beaming with excitement!!! Love it! 💕

He grows it in pots on his front porch and covers them when a hard frost is coming. He had blooms in December and January!

I love the appearance of stocks and now you have me considering growing some in the tiniest patch of garden surrounding my pool here in So. California (Zone 10). I subscribed already. Got excited when you found those stocks and harvested the seeds! Your "flower farm" and this new venture with the greenhouse/store makes me wish you were here in So. California. I caught the vision you were describing and your business will be such a beautiful addition to your community. If you were freeway close I know I'd plan on visiting your nursery. I was really jazzed to find out it's edible since I try to grow non toxic plants around my children. Last year I grew stocks from seed but I was not happy with the fact it was not branching. I wanted the branching after I saw your video. I found it at Urban Farmer in the US, and I ordered a bunch of colours from them. I am in Canada.

Ugh, you're really making me want to try some stock. I had a huge fail with the sweet peas I tried last year so I'm not optimistic. Ohio zone 6a

Both because they’re new bed and I’m in a zone where they’re a biennial/perennial I’m so excited that I may have success with stock. I also have the ability to put my seedlings outside during the day right now.

I love stock so much but have never had luck growin it! I'm in zone 6a and the plants grow but never flower. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I try again every year. I only have a 5x10' raised bed, but I save room for stock every year. Fingers crossed this is my year!!

They are a really cool loving flower. They can be tricky. It's all about timing, and if they get over 60° they literally won't flower. Start them now If you haven't already. They need the length of the day as she said, but they don't like the hot. What she's explaining in the end makes sense bc she started them earlier and kept them cool. It's kinda confusing 😕

I gotta say, I saved stock seeds this year... And I noticed that only the single flowers made seeds. The pods formed from double flowers never swelled. They were empty. It made me wonder if I will get any double flowers from that seed. I don't know how stock genetics works.

I made several searches on whether or not stocks are open polinators and if they cross polinate and could not find anything directly answering the question. I did fine that some varieties are biennials and other perenniels depending on your climate and some behave like anuuals because its just too cold out there ...

That's very interesting. Has anyone tried growing stock where it gets afternoon shade? I'm thinking I may need to experiment this year and I have plenty of shade!

    Hi Nicole,
Seeds day has rainbow quartet stock. They come in seed pack of 50 seeds. I’ve sent this message twice but added the link. Maybe you don’t allow links? Anyway hope you can get some.

So I did a bit of research a few years ago to find out exactly what could cross pollinate. End of story, if it is not releasing pollen at the same time, they can't possibly cross. So the theory is that you just try to time the specific seeds you want to save a little differently than the others.
