Big Chair is a masterpiece. Should be in everyone's top 5 collection. So underrated. The way they blend all of the different instruments....not many bands have been able to do that...ever
I always enjoy Curt's bass playing. His lines are alway interesting, and you really can pick them out in the song. Lots of slide, almost plays a style that sounds like a lead.
It is just amazing. I get more and more into this song the longer time goes by. But this is a sadness, as I realize, the band was best when it was Roland, Curt, Manny, and Ian. They all contributed to Songs from the big chair, that is why it still is the best album they have made. I like the rest, but this is the peak.
WHAT A PERFORMANCE!!!! EPIC, for an EPIC song... they are all on the top game, amazing. never grows old, as I had this in beta in 1986 and watched it over and over again, and to this day it is amazing.
I’m not sure why there was a clip in the beginning with Roland with his shirt off, but I’m not mad at it. I liked TFF as a kid growing up, but now in my 40s I have come to appreciate the depth off their music and lyrics. So moving and political, I didn’t realize it at the time. As an adult I appreciate them so much more and am so glad I grew up in the 80s the music was magical.
Ive met Mani Elias who is the drummer a few times...nice guy!!! He calls himself 'the noisy one at the back' in tears for fears. He has a company called bongos chillis which does chilli jams and various other chilli themed relishes pastes etc and does the artisan markets in the north west uk. Look him up online...him and his wife are a lovely couple...very down to earth.
excellent video & sound quality! Thx 4 posting! Curt's adorably cute and really into his bass playing (check him at 4:12). Roland's soaring voice fits this song like no other. Great video! Love it!
as much as I hate to down my favorite 60's rock bands, I have to agree, this is on par with the best of Floyd, The Who, et al... and as a live performance, it's up there with Rush.
O instrumental e a sintonia dessa música e sensacional. A banda TFF nem se fala. Curt Smith, bass, Roland orzabal, vocals, guitar, Ian Stanley, keybords ,many Elias, dums.
Props to all the players and a special shout out to Will Gregory - seen throughout this video on the Saxaphone. His soulful playing etched every note into memory. Love it forever!
What was the song played before this began? I seem to recall two saxophone songs in a row where they mixed together one after another and it was amazing!
Eddie Vedder is good but he can't stand in Roland's shoe. He's a distant # 2 wayyyyy behind Roland. Matter of Eddie and Roland have that obsessive drinking in common. It's affected Eddie's voice but not Roland. However, the drinking has affected Roland's aging a lot, while Eddie still looks good for 55. I think Roland is 58 in a few weeks.. Today is 8/8/2019.
if some one had this version of "the working hour" without commentaries and video cuts....talk for me....like a manny elias talked for me all versions of "the working hour", had some difference on drums bet...
No, they're not gay. They were young intellectual artsy passionate British. It's a common error. You really should broaden your horizons a little bit. I'm not putting you down - I promise. There's so much world out there to get to know and it's all so stimulating. It's harder for us Americans because we're ocean locked from both sides so we have to want it more.
1) 5:08 Razzo Magazine ?? some kind of the ridiculous reporter didn't know the band name exactly. 2) but I understand him, the year of 1985, TFF and A-ha had invaded newly the world pop-rock scene. 3) I love so much Will Gregory' saxophone solos, he's now still member of Goldfrapp.
Big Chair is a masterpiece. Should be in everyone's top 5 collection.
So underrated. The way they blend all of the different instruments....not many bands have been able to do that...ever
One of my all-time favorite 80’s songs. Just beautiful in all aspects. Lyrics, bass, drums, piano and a saxophone!
My favorite TFF song.
It's more than a song by the way, it's pure masterpiece.
Yes, it is totally.....super fan.....too...
@@nakadai4444 The same... Love it! A perfect joke from Roland "we call The Beatles"...
You have never lied!!

What a gift to be able to sing like that!
I always enjoy Curt's bass playing. His lines are alway interesting, and you really can pick them out in the song. Lots of slide, almost plays a style that sounds like a lead.

I always like how Manny has this little grin while he plays, like he is so happy to be there and perform for us. He seems very likeable.
The SOUND these guys put out in the 80s. I was a teen then and Songs From a Big Chair was one of my first CDs
There's something about this song that's me feel so damn good
I will always love Songs From The Big Chair. FANTASTIC ALBUM TOP 10, Possible 5 of my ALL TIME FAVORITE ALBUMS!!, the dj

This song is so special, never gets old. Great work, Manny.
Sad the 80´s are gone forever.... The emotions I feel every time I hear the working hour... What a song!!
WHAT A PERFORMANCE!!!! EPIC, for an EPIC song... they are all on the top game, amazing. never grows old, as I had this in beta in 1986 and watched it over and over again, and to this day it is amazing.

Simply mind blowing!
Out of this world, the 80s, the best decade and of course tears for fears is number one.
Exactly 100%!!!
TFF supreme 80s- this song KILLS ALL. Ultimate 80s FEELING NEVER let go!!!!
By far I love Toto but this song is by far my most favorite musical pieces in history I love everything from how natural and organic the music sounds.
this has everything it that made the 80s decade superior over any other decade. It was just the best.
Still just amazed by this song..
If only we can get hold of this particular track! So beautiful!
Miticos, geniales, grande gruppo del 80 😘😘😘😘❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Roland's voice blows me away. I'm having a rebirth of Tears for Fears mania after 30 years!
The best thing is you can actually see them live again!
I'm having mine now in 2022. lol Cheers!
best song Tears For Fears great album best time spring summer 1985!!!
Still love it. Just amazing.
I love hearing about the creative process a song takes shape through. How ever...why would I want to hear about it DURING THE BUILD UP OF A LIVE TAKE
Essa música é linda ♥️
amazing song !
Goldfrapp's Will Gregory playing saxophone. Amazing!
Also, I have heard very few bassists that grabbed my attention like Curt. I can always pick out his bass lines, just seem so original in his approach.
I so wish they would return to this kind of sound.
yeah- the pure TFF 80s sound- when they were top notch.

You should check 1975. It's my fav band now because of the sound. Reminds me of the 80's tunes.
Still loving it.
Musica Linda demais!
Bons tempos!
Little Boy of the sax is wonderful!Come back to Brasília Brasil!
The saxophonist is Will Gregory, co-founder of Goldfrapp
MASTERPIECE we can just make a reverence

as much as I hate to down my favorite 60's rock bands, I have to agree, this is on par with the best of Floyd, The Who, et al... and as a live performance, it's up there with Rush.
Only other band I have heard that is this good in concert... Pink Floyd.
Best song on the album. And that is saying something.
Phenomenal
O instrumental e a sintonia dessa música e sensacional. A banda TFF nem se fala. Curt Smith, bass, Roland orzabal, vocals, guitar, Ian Stanley, keybords ,many Elias, dums.
Esta musica e linda.
I used to listen to this before heading off to work.
2019 August ??? This is the music That I Missed!
Props to all the players and a special shout out to Will Gregory - seen throughout this video on the Saxaphone. His soulful playing etched every note into memory. Love it forever!

Why fucking compare? Why not enjoy both?
This is an Anthem
I do think Ian and Manny were missed later.. whatever their contribution, the sound on the second album always seems like "peak" TFF to me.
agreed- him and maybe Derek Forbes from simple Minds- jyst 2 awesome bands in the early years
Nockles.. Nicky Holland
nicky holland on piano, ian stanley on keyboards
So close to the album track it's incredible....I'm still doubting that this isn't singing over the actual recorded version.
Lovely Emmanuel at the end there...
if some one had this version of "the working hour" without commentaries and video cuts....talk for me....like a manny elias talked for me all versions of "the working hour", had some difference on drums bet...
love me some nicky holland
I love that she's barefoot whilst playing....
Nice...
@TFF11 The Piano? Nicki Holland and Ian Stanley.

@5:15 it cracks me up everytime!
Where this record is from? Some TV show? Can I find the full footage?
Later Nicky (nicknamed Nockles) co wrote with Orzabal.
6:00 don't look no good

5:24!
Just an awesome song. Maybe maybe my all time favorite. Better than Floyd? Well, more soulful than PF anyway, at least.
Oh those memories of this cassette in my 1980 Z-28 Camaro - Jensen / Pioneer stereo - lol
@1CaptUnderpants does it matter if they are gay? Really?
Who was on the Piano?
Arka, ,nahim😅
