my name is Kevin,
I’m working at NYC’s oldest hat shop(founded 1911)
for 25 years,
..and this is HATS AND GUITARS !
I generally play guitar,
talk about hats,
then play more.
If u see a 🎸symbol first in the title of the video, there is a music intro,
If there’s no no guitar symbol, there’s no music on that video..
you can always fast forward though, some are good, others, just noodling..
But it keeps me interested and motivated,to be honest..25 years of the same hat speeches and lingo, it can get tedious.
The guitar keeps it fresher for me, and some music people might actually enjoy it, I think.

I love that you actually show different ways to wear these different hats. Other videos they just chuck it on and dont move it or change it at all.

Great video Kevin. I am a big wearer of both newsboy and flat caps, courtesy of my twin brother, who wore them a lot when we were in grade school. I used to find them a bit odd at first, but ever since I had worn my first one, I never regretted it since. They're very stylish and functional and I look pretty good in them. I own quite a few myself, and next to my fedoras, are some of my favorite hats to wear.

Thank you!! Remember.. “flat caps” not flat hats.. a “hat” has a brim all the way around it. What you wear are caps.

I just picked up an patchwork Erin cap from Hanna hats I like the cut they have it’s not to baggy like you said more modern but not fully

Great video Kevin! What about the duckbill caps? I’m running a hat shop in Barcelona and the duckbills are one of the favourite shapes for begginers and/or thinner faces, like a good looking starter cap to get used to wear before the newsboys and flats. Is it hard to find in the USA or is just a shape that doesn’t fit in your styles?
It tends to be popular in cheaper, made in China caps, a trend,maybe.. because the larger, European cap makers aren't bothering w them anymore, they're not as big in the US anymore,
they made a big splash a few years ago here and played themselves out,
A few brands offered a duckbill shape for a couple of years, at this point it's run it's course and most brands are moving on,
Ivy caps and newsboys are the classics, and always sell.
every year they try to come up w variations, gimmicks, two tones, all these things.. but the classics always sell.
In New York , skinny is in fashion.
narrower and narrower caps are in style,
look at our "Stetson Valley virgin wool" cap, it's practically duckbill, but leans more towards an ultra skinny Ivy with a neat,sewn down peak.. essentially a duck,( or as close as we will come to it)

The older videos have inferior sound quality, since then I’ve gotten new cameras, mics..I couldn’t remix the old videos, I didn’t have the original to edit, so I had to leave them up. These days, if something is too low, or bad sound, I can correct it in the editing, but yes, I’m aware of this, rest assured the newer videos are all ok,
