The bass flute almost sounds like a saxophone at times. Very cool!
it also appears to have a unique head joint which you can see when he places it down around 5:24
I found the headjoint that makes the flute (far left) sound like a saxophone, it is called Briccialdi Zi-Fi Buzz Flute Headjoint

its a specialist flute head joint. I think its called a buzz headjoint.
