KiwiRail at work around the Franklin region - June 2024 (4K)

Over a few weeks we film multiple KiwiRail freight and passenger services, we film trains around the Franklin region between Tuakau and Paerata including the Mission Bush Branch line
We start off with a heavy train 138 attacking the climb to Helvetia before seeing The Northern Explorer at Tuakau, we then film Trains such as 221 and 220 with DH class locomotives in tow before ending off with some shots of 134 and 142 around Helvetia

Those locos make a great sound. MTU 20V4000 engines, I find, looking them up.

What's with the deliberate DH movements? Are they retired or something?

They are currently doing a refurbishment program so they are moving between Auckland and Hutt Workshops in Wellington
