Can't get more fun than driving a slow car fast, squeezing every bit of grip and power out of a small econobox is the best way to learn how to drive a car.

And you're still faster in the corners than most folks on the road with their 2ton wobbly suvs.
The only thing that is annoying in public is the tire squeal in summer with these 155-185 tires.

Exactly! Many years ago I had a 330i and I didn't feel I could drive it that well, fast. I sold it and as a stop gap bought. 1.1l, 3 cylinder Colt (75hp). Honestly I had so much fun it in, driving it on the edge it had zero torque and I learnt to carry speed through the corners, be smooth etc, and finally heel+toe. 😁

I had 2 of these "Vitz Echo" 1.3L though.
First one was owned for 4 years from 40,000kms - 100,000kms.
Lots of fun open road kms.
In that time it cost me a set of tyres and front brake pads + usual oil, coolant and brake fluid.
I sold it to a friend who put another 80,000kms on it with no issues.
Sold on and still running great.
I have another one now '1.3L'
I've lowered it with some stiffer springs and fitted a set of lightweight 15x5.5" wheels-16" wheels would cut the weight down more but 16" tyres are a lot more expensive here and also didn't come in a suitable size.
The grip and road feel is more like a larger more stable car now however as it's short and very light in the rear a decent swaybar and softer tyre pressure helps.
Don't go overkill on tyres, the less weight you have to spin the better, I've seen lots of guys buying 7"-7.5" wheels and running wider tyres.
In the rear this will only make the car slide, in the front the car doesn't have the power to justify the fatter tyres.
Keep in mind factory rear tyres on these cars are narrower, this helps with wet grip and prevents aquaplaning.
Bloody fun cheap banger to learn from.

I also have the 1.3 yaris, which springs did you take? Do you think 40/40 mm would be too much?

      @@adriaudio6 Hey mate.
Me personally I'd be happy with 30mm and stiffer springs, I just didn't want to spend much to do it.
I've also gone to an over profile tire and a 50mm drop front n rear.
So works out around 40mm due to the larger diameter tyres.
I wouldn't want it any lower on the road, but track I'll go back to factory diameter.

It's proof you don't need eleventy-bajillion horsepower to have huge amounts of fun behind the wheel! As James May once said during his Fiat Panda review in S18 EP3 of UK Top Gear, "it's not actually about how much power you have, it's about how much power you can use."
...and cue all the young, immature Ferrari/Lamborghini fanboys - who probably aren't even of legal driving age - who will likely disagree with that statement.

I've got a few cars including a 1995 Nissan Skyline...but my 2003 1.0 Yaris is so much fun. I use all the "power" all the time lol also if sumthing breaks...its cheap 🤣

I have the facelift version of this yaris with the diesel 1.4 which is mapped and decatted and it pulls good with the torque. It beats Vw/audis with the 2.0d 103kw.

Don't underestimate a 2005 1.0 VVT-i Yaris 😂😂... fricken love it... Rips at 100mph on the motorway, embarasses many cars at the lights in the city. Nimble. Just fcking fun to drive at the limit... I actually just searched for yaris at Nurburgring and so glad I found this😂😂😂...... Loved the power slide at 10:00😂😂😂

Love driving slow cars fast. but they main problem with my 1.3 Swift is the seats offer no support. I find myself steering with one hand and holding onto the seat with the other hand (on very tight corners). Quite dangerous but it’s almost like a natural instinct. Love it tho, especially on highway exits

No MK1 yaris's came with a rear anti roll bar.
It has a passenger airbag so a bit porky compared to other models you could get

I have a '03 yaris 't sport 1.5. It's not a powerful car but for a tiny bit more money a lot better on the track. It has 185 instead of 155 size tires which makes a lot of difference. Also the suspension setup is tighter, it has discs in the back and about 35 hp more.
