who tha fuh thumbed this video down.. dude this was perfection.. thanks for this awesome instructional series.. I'ma probably still pay someone to rebuild mine.. but this video almost gave me the confidence to rebuild it myself..
I'm on my 8th mustang. Mostly self taught.. I wish I had your videos in my twenties 😎 you should teach at an automotive school. I hated school but Love watching your videos 💪
thank you very much junk yard dogg for posting your awesome T5 video, i rebuilt my T5 and could not have done it without your video, you should be a auto mechanics instructor !1 (if your not already)
Hugely informative video. That design of the reverse shift fork (with the groove and roller) makes me realize why sometimes I have to really reef on the shifter to get my 1994 GT into reverse.
nice instructional video. You are a great teacher as I like how you take your time and explain in detail what you are showing on at each moment as you move through each step. Good detailed camera angles and close ups make it easy to see and understand. A+!
Just finished building a gforce t5 (case with gears gforce) & gforce main shaft 🥴 *1st gear has to be cut with a 45° angle to put the assembly into the case. I used a grinder to do it then file the edges smooth. ** info not online ** My first build && it was a beast. Used sliders from my WC & a rebuild kit from Jegs. Wish I seen this video for more needed info 😢
I learned a few things. A little trick I use to install bearings instead of a press is heat. Put the part in an oven or on a hot plate until a drop of water sizzles on it. Then it just falls into place without a press.
I had a 90 Mustang LX 5.0 back then... Third gear just vanished one day leaving from a red light slowly ... I don't see how that's even possible here because it looks like a good transmission, I believe it was a common problem ... Nice video👍
I wish you had some instructional videos of Jeep transmissions t14 t15s. Very nice work my friend... it’s enjoyable to see a man doing what he loves. Thanks for sharing
Hi buddy, could you do a rebuild of a NWC T5 transmission? One other guy on TH-cam has done one but he is very hard to follow and he makes lots of screw ups during the rebuild. You are very easy to follow and you actually know what your doing. Cheers man. JUG Australia.
Best video on T5's I have seen yet. Really like they way you explain the process and the differences in some parts. I am rebuilding a 1986 NWC T5 speed and the assembly binds when trying to move the idler gear for reverse. I now thanks you suspect the lever may be the wrong one. Can you when you have some time give me the hight measurements for the two levers so I can confirm I have the wrong part. If so do you know how I can get the right part? Eric from Canada
I'm a new foxbody owner, I'm planning on rebuilding my t5 in my work's shop over the winter on my own time. We have a couple presses but is it possible to just use a bearing heater and sweat the bearings on? Seems easier to me?
He added the cluster support plate to the video. Thumbs up. The one that usually comes in the kits has slop on them. The cluster support plate (steel) grabs that race tight on the sides. I just finished setting up my pre-load and am extremely happy with my results.
Thanks for your videos. Very instructive and detail. Just custom question, can I rebuild a t5 on mustang v6 2003 with world class rebuilt kit to make it stronger (v6 built enfine around 300lb of torque)
Tony, wanted to order the same kit you got for my T5 on eBay. You got a part number on that kit. The kit I found does not have fiber lining rings. It’s the non world class. Which one should I go with.
@@JunkyardDoggs took apart my T5 transmission but the input shaft gears are bad. Need to replace the input shaft. Any chance I can get your help on ordering the correct one?
Hey Tony awesome videos by the way... I have a 1994 sn95 5.0L I'm looking to swap my transmission and found a t5 stamped with a 1996 year would this trans fit with minor mods
Yeah I was looking up info on it and it seems like you might be right on it being a v6 trans u recommend I put that one in should i rebuild the original, grinds pretty bad in second gear no pop out tho
Thank you I guess on mine the pivot that holds the 5/r in place backed out and the plate got wedges in between that and the housing so I couldn’t move the shifter at all
Well bro.... I finally got the motor rebuilt and got her broke in last week. Seems the trans was mot ready for all the new bald eagles under the hood lol. Think I burned up 1st through 3rd. They are whining at me like little cry babies lol. So here I am back again using your content. Cant thank you enough for all your content lol. ❤ She runs great though and she is pretty spicy lol.
Thank you for the reply I just watched the 3rd part, I will try to just change that seal and see how it goes because my budget is getting tight to finish my project unfortunately, it will only be a weekend driver not a daily so hopefully I will get by till I can afford a full rebuild
quick question, what size it the reverse spring at 23.51? mine is missing... ny the way, i am installing a 2,2 ecotec engine and a w/c t5 transmsssion into my 1984 alfa romeo spider ( i did warm the engine up some..lots of head work, upped the c/r to 10.9/1, and other things) on that spring.. what is the lenght of it..i dont live anywhere a manual transmisson shop.. 2 hour drive, so any help would be great, thank you...and whats your location? california?
Hey Tony, again...love the vids! But I have another question regarding parts. My trans is going behind a 347 stroker turning right around 500hp. ( at least that’s the plan) So I have purchased every HP part I can find for my trans. The one thing you’ve mentioned that I can’t seem to find is the solid synchro keys. I’ve found a single seller that has them for 3-4 but can’t find a complete set. Suggestions?
Unfortunetly the 1-2 solid synchros are no longer available. I dont know why but T5 components are becoming scarce in the high performance department. I will be doing a high performance T5 build soon for Project mayhem once the car comes back from the cage fabricator.
Hey Tony, been watching your videos for a while now and love them, you seem to do great work. I’ve got a couple super random questions if you don’t mind answering, where do you get your rebuild kits? awesome video nicely done. in your opinion what is the best rebuild kit for a non world class? 1986 v8 gm t5. thanks
Thanks Tony! Just in time. I'm thinking about rebuilding my t5. Great Tutorial!
Thanks for your videos. Very instructive and detail.
Just custom question, can I rebuild a t5 on mustang v6 2003 with world class rebuilt kit to make it stronger (v6 built enfine around 300lb of torque)
Thx for watching! All T5's after 1987 are world class. All T5's after 1999 are 300ftlbs of torque so yes you can.
Is it worth it rebuilding these? Will they handle more power? I had one in my 84 z28 but it didnt take well to abuse. 400 horsepower tore it apart lol
I ended up putting a 700r in its place but i still have the t5
Tony, wanted to order the same kit you got for my T5 on eBay. You got a part number on that kit. The kit I found does not have fiber lining rings. It’s the non world class. Which one should I go with.

Very true. Generally i soak them in tranny fluid before installing nowadays

Can you post a link for the cluster bracket and rebuild kit please
Great job and attention to detail
so there is no c clip that goes on the 5th/reverse shaft roller that goes into the 5th/reverse shift lever?
No there isnt at least not on this model

Think with those 3 gears whining like a supercharger that I will need to have an entire rebuild? How much does something like that usually cost?
what's the best way to get that bearing of of that cluster
I have a disassembly video that demonstrates it. A hammer, chisel and a press and bearing puller.
Fantastic channel - terrific video. Thank you sir!
Thanks for the Education as always!
These are great videos, thanks for posting
I have a used t5 I was going to use but when I tip it on end oil comes out the input shaft does that mean it would need a rebuild?
Needs a new input shaft seal which sits in a pocket in the bearing retainer.

Im new onto the t5 onfo. So, can i get a v6 mustang t5 and install it in a v8 ? Where do i get the v8 spline from?
junkyarddoggs.com
Junkyard Doggs so do i just replace it with the v8 input shaft? The 57 bucks one, right?
Tony, i need the same overhaul kit but what is the part number?.
I check on ebay and transparts warehouse but they asking me part number.
Found one but i don't know if is this one BK149WS

were can i get a spring for the 5th reverse shaft i lost mine
Ill post one later on Junkyarddoggs.com
Is this the same video as the last one. I am still waiting for part 4
Mike fox its is part 4 but i broke it into disassembly part 1-3. Then assembly parr 1-3.
Junkyard Doggs OK sounds perfect
Can the t5 from the 94-95 be used in fox Mustangs prior to those years? Or would they need modification?
yes it can be used but the input shaft and bearing retainer is shorter and need to be swapped
@@JunkyardDoggs cool. Thanks for the reply.
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT video
The t5 is also in the v6 4.0
Yes
Is this process pretty similar to the 96-2004?
Very close
Great video, keep them coming 😎
you dont pack the cluster bearings?
About houw much hp/torque will these rebuilt tko5 speeds take?
Torque is the killer of these transmissions. 300ftlbs max
Is the process the same for a NWC out of a V8 Camaro?
For the most part except the bearings
