I haven't seen Nightmare in Dream Land runs before, but it was awesome to see a Kirby run that wasn't just using wheel all the time and actually use different abilities depending on the level. Also props to Mr_Shasta, the movement throughout the whole run looked really precise.
I noticed this back when I first saw his Metroid Prime Hunters run. I think Mr_Shasta has (what I view to be) a bad habit of near-constantly talking throughout his runs. I'm sure the couch would chip in more if there were more openings to do so. He also has the same kind of cadence when he talks whether something is amazing or simple. So it's hard for an unknowing audience to know what they should be impressed by and clap for.
Part of the problem too is for all the runs I've done in GDQs except Kirby Squeak Squad I'm the only one really knowledgeable on my game and who's run it or taken it really seriously, so I've had to do a huge bulk of the commentary work for them. Everyone on the couch did runs at some point, but only Zelgan has done a lot of work on the game more recently and he told me later he was mostly just ecstatic to be on the couch and didn't have much he wanted to say.
Both my runs were early in the morning unfortunately, so a lot of people were drowsy or not awake yet, so to me it's understandable and not a big deal to me honestly. I'm just glad to have people watch me there or at all. Every GDQ run I've done means the world to me
That was a reaaaally cute Run, Kirby is cute the announcer has a really cute voice and even the runner was making some cute commentaries too bad the couch said nothing and the crowd was deadly silent.... I guess they were so impressed they couldn't talk.
Yeah it was a great run and Shasta had amazing commentary considering nobody on the couch was really pitching in. They need some hype people dotted around in the room to ignite some excitement!
I've never played kirby but I'm watching most of the SGDQ videos from this year. Had to look up the announcer on twitch because yes she's adorable. Glad I gave kirby a chance!
What a great run, so many runners show up and make lots of mistakes (no hate I respect how difficult what they all do it) but you can tell this guy really mastered his game at the highest level.
Great run, I've beaten the game probably over 15 times as a kid, and I STILL learned something new. Never knew that metal blocks could be destryed by Burning or a Big Star. And that shortcut for the bos rush would've been nice to know...

Incredible. I started speedrunning kirby NiD not too long ago. I’m getting close to sub 52 minutes on any percent, and while that pales in comparison to other runs, I don’t really care about getting world records
How did one of the donators have NO idea this game existed..... if you know Kirby's Adventure, you should know about Nightmare in Dreamland. Literally makes NO sense.

I love how involved the runner was. His commentary was consistent, and you could tell he was very passionate about this game. Really good job!

Kirby's the best! I played a crapton of Kirby's Adventure when I was a kid and often drew pictures of him and the enemies. Great run!
