it's a testament to how good this game is that i did quite a few of the "speed run strats" (bouncing off walls to avoid falling straight down, dangling above the core when you're forced to use the 3way) as a kid playing this game "casually". in other words, it rewards the kind of mastery you expect for speedrunning. just an awesome game for exploring for glitches and refining movement technique. great run and commentary.
I always look forward to PJ's runs during GDQ week. As a kid, I finished this game and then sold it, along with several other games, to pay for an SNES. Oh how I wish I had all those games back.
In theory, yes. They would only be useful against one enemy type though, and I have never had success swinging through them. In practice, the Iron Boots are actively harmful to use. In theory, they're fine.
As long as the enemy didn't have a "damage zone" in front of them, like the bezerkers with the knife in front of them, I never really had an issue. Yes, they were situational, but they had some utility
Wait, wait, wait. How did Hype Mode make an appearance? Is this, like, a custom romhack? Was Murph hiding out with the Power Up guys and played the effect manually? I'm not arguing, Hype Mode is awesome, but how did that happen? What's the secret?
PJ is always my favorite. Amazing game, amazing run ❤
14:50 the interrogation scene is the best part!

You made my day with that Elevator jump.
I love to see 100% speed run of Bionic Commando

22:35 for Yell-evator.
PJ ! PJ ! PJ ! :3
This guy never fails to entertain me, I can't wait to start watching this speedrun :D
Yeah, PJ awesome runner. :)
Why did his name change briefly around 7:35?
One is the runners name (PJ) the other (PJDICESARE) was his Twitch handle, indicated by the little Twitch icon.
I like how the reader's reaction to the extra-talkative NPC glitch was the fucking Feel Good, Inc. laugh
Favorite NES game of all-time. Love watching speedruns but this was amazing and the funniest speedrun commentary I've heard yet. Great job.
took me months to beat this game
This game gave me fits as a kid. So wonderful to see somebody utterly wreck it.
22:30 .
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!
I used to have that game. Good ol days man.
Potion Man is the best think in the whole game :D
PJ is the best runner hands down!
Loved this game back in the 80s.
FYI - Iron Boots allow you to kill enemies by swinging into them

Run starts at 4:10
Wow, when the runner is also the commentator... ... ..WOW!
15:20 I don't think anyone wants a reason for that amazing interrogation technique
HYPE MODE ENGAGED
It was so sad for me when I saw PJ was doing only one run. But I guess they all have a tight schedule. Is there any other runs where PJ is on?
Got the N pass back in 2016 good going PJ.
42:28-42:40 i laughed so much
just found out, fresh videos on this channel still have their file name on MingLee
1:34 start time
You've received N!
Seems legit -_-

The Iron boots allow you to hit an enemy while swinging

overlaying audio, I presume?
My guess is 1:09 had something to do with it.
Tech crew to the rescue again~
(...Maybe?~)
PRAISE OOMO
Bionic Commando? Meh, I'll pass on--
By PJ!? /me gets comfy
Pi pi pi!!!
i loved this game
It's the wrong bionic commando in the description.
more like master H lol, also has anyone run the gameboy version? where everyone is anime scifi
Run starts at 4.14
1:33
Why don't you run the Japanese version? ヒットラーの復活 TOP SECRET?
It's very different, the barrier trick doesn't work, certain RNG is more difficult for boss strats, and a couple other things I forget.
There's also more annoying trucks in the JP version.
