Bass was DLC but the Wii Shop is offline, so unfortunately you have no legal means of using any other characters with the Wii version. You'd have to buy the 360 or PS3 versions or get the Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 (which has Mega Man 10 with the Bass DLC included). Your only other option, unfortunately, is piracy.

Agreed. Strikeman's weakness could reference blades cutting balls, or it could reference "three strikes and you're out!" with the fact that it's a TRIPLE Blade.

Supposedly, "Roboenza" was the precursor for the Maverick Virus that surfaced in the Mega Man X timeline. I'm not sure on the validity of that statement. Only caught it in the "Eggman VS Wily" Death Battle. If the statement is inaccurate, blame Wiz and Boomstick, the hosts of Death Battle, for it.
It might as well be, unless I'm unaware of more official info that is out there, I have not found any info that objects to this. The virus was made by wily and it causes robots to go berzerk, and the maverick virus, that basically does the same thing to reploids, came from Zero, also a Wily creation. I'd say the dots are all there for you to connect.
I do wish Capcom would finally just give us a game that officially ties the Classic and X series together, but then they couldn't pump any more Classic games out (the Classic series is probably the easiest series to keep making new games for, since it doesn't have all the slightly more complicated lore that the X or other newer series do).

True evil couldn't do something like that. In the Manga Gigamix, Wily shows that deep down he has cares for robots, in this case Cutman (Who's willing to lend his body to fix coma Megaman). This is actually referenced in the intro of Mega Man X, as well as the ending of Mega Man 7. Why does this game get such adoration. It literally looks, sounds and plays like a megadrive game. Remember this came out the same year as Red Dead.
