Great comparison review, Ansar. You definitely touched on constructive points with a well balanced opinion regarding both systems. I have the GR2 and would also consider the Leica Q as an alternative cam for a more traditional shooting experience. Thanks for the slide show - fantastic images!
Appreciate your kind words
This is actually a very good pair to compare, regardless of what others may think. Although the Leica is considered "small", in reality, it can be a hinderance to take with you everyday. The Ricoh (or similar Fuji) is a great alternative since they both provide similar output to the Leica. Before someone jumps on this comment, I'm not saying they all have the same output! I'm saying they all have unique, artistic output that can certainly be in the same ballpark. As someone who shoots Leica and Fuji for exactly this reason, and am considering a Ricoh for an even more portable setup, I appreciate your efforts here.
Thanks for stopping by and making some valid points here. Really appreciate it

A fair enough comparison video. What I like about the Ricoh is the size. I do most of my (candid) street photography one handed so it is perfect for that. I had a Fuji X100V and sold it in favour of the much smaller Canon G5X MK II. I wanted a bit of range. There is no doubting that Leica are quality cameras and many photographers want that coveted red spot. Maybe when I retire! Thanks for the interesting video.
Appreciate it
Great video and sample images! Do you have a link for that Q2 case/grip?
thank you. glad you like the images. i have updated the link in the description
well said comparison
I shoot a lot with the GR III and while it clearly is not going to have the IQ of Leica glass, it is still pretty astonishing, especially when shooting in any of the monochrome settings.
The battery life on my GR III soundly beats any of my other gear, including the Q2, Fuji XT3 and Canon 5DIV. When you re out shooting in the streets for an entire day, this makes a lot difference, esp. when you forget a backup battery like I too frequently do!
What an excellent comparison! Any thoughts on the Leica q2 vs Fuji x100v? I have a lot of gear - too much for sure - but have a thought to trade the x100v for the Leica. I’ve lost some of my mojo this year and am thinking the Leica experience might help me get it back. Any thoughts on how those to compare? Thanks
Do you like 28mm in comparison to 35mm?
Dear Ansar,
I am from Kerala, South India. Would you please let me know how to buy Ricoh GR III in India?
What camera are u using to shoot your youtube videos?
A7siii
Nice information 👍🏾
thanks for stopping by
Most reviewers fail to realize that when you charge a camera directly...as opposed to removing the battery and charging it separately...you are running an electric current across the camera's circuit board which increases the possibility of damaging the board. Not sure I'd want to do that on a Q2 which retails for $5,600 USD.
Great comparison. GRii holds its own and saves ££££. I still see the camera as a great everyday camera too, rather than just for Street Photography. Have you adjusted any of the JPEG colour profiles on the GRiii? I see lots of Fuji colour recipes online, but none for the GRiii.
Thanks for stopping by. I have tweaked a few BNW jpeg settings but not that much . agreed that the fuji community has doing great in developing custom recipes
There are quite a few formulas for the GR3 - check out Reddit.
Thanks for letting me know. Will check them out as well
Check out Ritchies Ricoh Recipes! The brilliant guy behind fuji x weekly does ricoh recipes as well now:)
I did see that. Very good
I owned a Ricoh GRIII and despite loving it for it being so small and portable, after some time I found myself still shooting with my iPhone which was in the other pocket. The lack of a viewfinder takes some of the "photography magic" away in my opinion.
absolutely agreed
Testing has shown the the optics comment is actually wrong… the differences you see are advantages of the larger sensor and near twice the resolution
thanks for letting me know. I have not seen those tests. in my own experience there is heavy vignetting and some distorting with the gr3 lens whereas its practically absent on the Leica.
Wrong cameras to compare, the Leica are so big that it only can be compared to mirrorless system cameras ! The Ricoh are a true pocket camera, so compare it to pocket cameras !
Completely pointless comparison. It's like comparing a Mini Cooper to a Silver Shadow.
haha
Yeah, the Leica is in a completely different class.
