Isn't the timing for good bunny-hops one or two frames in a game where the terrain is constantly varying and is almost never flat? I thought at bare minimum you'd have to use a scroll wheel, unless you can give some tips or advice for bhopping without using mods?
@@Soldaten7788 It is the uneven ground and strict frametiming + fluctuating framerates that make it impossible to bhop like this, without the use of a mod. Sure you might get 1 or 2 consecutive hops every now and then, but as I said in the video, most often a scrollwheel will result in losing momentum.
In other games with this exploit (such as many titles built on the source engine), a viable b-hopping method is scrolling to jump. I'm not sure if Deep Rock Galactic allows you to bind "mouse wheel down" to jump.
I knew this was a thing from other youtube videos I've watched, but man, its nice to see a guide on it. Even though scout is my least played class, stuff lie this is super appreciated. Even if I don't reach these skill levels on scout cause I'm focusing on something else, this is a nice mechanic to keep in the back pocket. I bet its going to make me want to use dash more often.
helpful. figured a fair bit out in the time between watching your old guide and this one; now i just have to learn to move objects, and what i was missing there is knowledge they drop past a certain vertical speed. i just thought the game was rubberbanding lol
Great video aside, holy shit the music you chose is an absolute banger. i will now proceede to indulge myself in a 10h listening session of Korriba Scar
Auto-BHOP is my absolute favorite mod, and it always feels a bit weird when I don't have it. I love playing Tribes: Ascend in funny dwarf game, and using it allows for guaranteed funny launches off of barrels in the space rig, so I'm happy
I really want the devs to make an overclock for lead storm that makes it so you can basically play jet pack joy ride, however I doubt it would ever be implemented like that and if they did implement it, it would likely just be a way of negating fall dmg and not be a way to create movement tech
For anyone who feels it is cheap, the mod can be recreated by making your keyboard spam space using a micro. The mod is simply a way to lessen the reliance on physical ability (reaction time, spamming ability, and focus) of something that has a huge skill floor. It still requires skill to utilize the benefits of b-hopping.
Really does suck that you have to use outside tools for it. Any kind of skill based movement tech in a game always bumps it up by a tier or 2 for me but having to use a macro or mod feels too much like cheating for me
i felt that way untill i tried it and saw how fun it was. if gsg made it a tiny bit easier to do so it wasnt a 1-2 frame trick id probs just "get good". since there isnt anything like pause buffering in drg, and i want to bhop, useing a mod means its practical so you can actualy do it without having to become a human TAS bot.
I would say that the speed boost mod on the grappling hook can be interesting whenever you are not following up with a Special Powder shot, to make you faster over shorter distances. It can be overall better on flatter maps where you don't need to use the hook to traverse areas above ground as often.
Nah there is no way, u prolly wasted the blank cores on clothes, the only way this could be possible is if u started playing a short time ago and played every day all day so u didn't get to do lots of weekly core hunts and deep dives
@@biggreen8025 nope, never put a single blank core into cosmetics. I have most of the other good OCs, fat boy, hyperprop, mine layer, Salvo, burning hell, etc etc etc. I'm just unlucky.

Two questions: 1) How many frames do you have to land a bhop? 2) Is DRG like other games with rotational airstrafing, where you have to let go of W to airstrafe?
1) depending on your framerate, it could be less than a frame, making it impossible. with the bhop mod which presses jump once every two frames, at 60fps i get around a 60% success rate. 2) you need to press w while turning or it will act like a sharp turn and youll lose your momentum
You can do it on console however it’s painfully inconsistent because of the frame perfect timing I can only get it to work every 3rd time just messing around using that window slide
great video dude i dont understand all these anti mod users thats all like "i dont want to use mods that replace skill" like i bet they havent even tried to bhop in drg all the mod does is just add auto jump, it does ruin gameplay or make you godmode or whatever its just simple jumping and there fuming over it, anyway thanks for this i got the mod and now my scout feels so much better
I would do ANYTHING to be able to have all these options and possibilities on console. It would definitely skyrocket my ranking of drg as one of my favorite games
Playing on ps4 and having every mission dip into low 20fps on every swarm definitely isn't making trying to reach full potential and push myself to become better any easier
Agh, it actually makes it so upsetting knowing that what no matter what I do I will NEVER have an experience on par, or be able to be better then if I was on pc
Can you put a list of mods that you use somewhere? The fps mods or even the mods that remove screen shake or whatever you might be using? As someone who doesn't care about graphics and cares more about gameplay, I don't mind having your wisdom of mods that you may have found over your hours of drg.
I've been having trouble with the trickier object tech it's difficult to change my key bind to scroll wheel as it makes me change all my key binds I wish there was a mod that allows you to hold a button and spam use like the bhop mod because i feel like getting a macro is a little to much but overall it is amazingly fun to bhop
Him: "Broken" Also him: macros, mods. Since the mods are verified, the devs aknowledge this, so if you want, do it as much as you want. imo tho this is an advantage.
Great video! Definitely going to try this out next I play. Will test it myself, but I was wondering if you knew whether buffs that decrease the heavy object speed reduction have an effect on the movement tech?
buffs that decrease heavy object speed reduction only affects you while you're on the ground, because the heavy objects only apply their slowness effect while you are walking, not while you're in the air so no, but it might still be good to bring for other dwarves who dont play scout
ive done so much to decrease my fps, but i still feel like im not getting it. I get really smooth fps, but it's so inconsistent even with mods when I'm using grappler.
Don't know if this is heresy but i felt like it was easier to bhop on console using dashes and a mix of grappling i went pretty fast even without managing to get special powder. (I still havent gotten it)

1. Heavy objects will drop out of your hands if your vertical speed exceeds a certain threshold. Unfortunately it is practically impossible to hit efficient bunnyhops without the mod. You might get a couple every now and then, but its not enough to build upon.
There are tons of techs to be mastered in the default game already and if you play modded difficulties, enhanced mobility is important since it's hard to make bugs _slower_ and maintain overall balance. Especially for a Scout who can't really fight hordes in 4 player Hazard 4 already unless on advantageous terrain, due to his lack of DPS and AoE, so when learning to play something like Haz 6x2 being able to GTFO from a swarm in a hurry is valuable even if it doesn't take much "skill".
