Thanks for the video Eric. I have sold quite a few sets of these heads along with many other offerings from ProMaxx. Great service and have customers with 20+ thousand miles on them, with no issues what so ever. These heads make very respectable horsepower. They are a good option.

Very good head, stock. I'm still an AFR man though. I've ran several different brands, in a lot of different applications. Overall, I have always gotten more bang for the buck with AFR heads. Always top quality.

I used a set of the 200cc maxx series Promaxx heads on a 383 for a street rod (67 chevelle) with out even trying to get maximum HP it dynoed at 491 Ft/lbs at 3900rpm 499Hp at 6600 rpm with a small roller 242/606, 10:1 compression. pump gas. I ordered them bare with valves and put LS B hive springs on. They were considerably less expensive than AFR. My customer is very happy with the out come. I am sold on them and the people are pleasant to work with.

@@edpetrocelli2633 nice, I was curious because I have the exact setup except a little smaller cam. It is the .236/.242 duration with .550 lift. Just wondering the ball park figure of power. It feels every bit of 450, I was guessing 475-500 range.

i run PW heads and they also outflow brodix. it is an exact copy of ik 200. only difference that i can see is the PW has a 67 cc chamber. casting is ultra smooth. they use Brodix valves, Howards dual springs, Manley valve retainers, Comp valve locks, brodix valves seals, Pep locaters. ARP studs, Brodix guide plates so im very happy. good quality parts I have the 204 cc and getting 77% of flow on exhaust.. At 600 they flow 273.9 on intake and 211.2 on exhaust. this is the 3rd set i have installed and always the same consistant quality. love your videos

I've said on one of your other vids, my son baught a set of their "Maxx 200cc" heads, I don't know if that's what those are or if the "Maxx" series has a little cnc work done or??? But anyways straight out of the box on his 11.1 ,383ci pump gas engine, it flat out rips!!! Been on his engine gotta be 3yrs now, no problems whatsoever! So myself am sold on them thing's, if you're going to buy a china cast head, them are no doubt the way to go! And you can save about 800 bucks compared to an AFR!!! So why not? Especially after seeing this and seeing how they perform on my son's car! I run Pro-filers myself, but building a stronger engine and will be buying a set of their 225's!

Begs the questions: I have been told as I have been out of the game for 25 years (military), that many of the "cheap" heads have crappy valves and very thin guides. I get there is some truth to that. For example the Edelbrock e street heads, budget friendly USA built heads, advertise max .550 lift but have a reported issue above .500. I feel that they most sell a butt ton more heads then the negative responses would leave you to believe, and I would assume the majority of issues are user errors.
Promaxx (changed names a few times) has the same reputation, but they have been around so long now the heads have to be "okay" at least?

Good video thanks Eric. Interesting observations and flow numbers. It would be interesting to see how they would react to some serious port work. I realise that you probably don't have the time, and you would have to get the head for free to justify doing it, but something like your internet porting video series on one of these heads would be something that I would find quite interesting. I wonder how many other people feel the same. Regards Greg

Hey Eric. that last video you did about the different stock LS heads. well I got a Holden 5l head flowed a stock iron one and it was interesting because it flowed 240cfm on the intake and 180 on the exhaust but hit 165 by .300 and flat lined that was with a 2.020 intake and a 1.600 exhaust. it's interesting because it flows very similar to the LS heads from the 4.8l and 5.3l. I think the Holden 5l EFI head was GM's first ever spread port head. If they weren't iron I would send them over for you to have a play with. TK or Tony Knight here in Australia does some good porting with them. TK did a set of the old carby heads which are basically a Pontiac or Olds head from memory and got a 308ci engine to 620hp on the engine dyno with iron heads.

Not to hijack thread,, The AFR heads are great products. Use the 185 on my 350 builds. The 220 on larger displacement strokers, out of the box , excellent flow numbers. These heads are used on Skip White Performance engines, as well as Scott Schafroff engines. Excellent castings, as well as fit and finish. My personal Dart blocked ,fully forged , balanced rotating assembly 427 stroker ,has the 220s . In an 81 malibu wagon , daily driver, runs 7.60 8th , 10.76 qtr. 1.70 ish 60 ft times. Can't go wrong with AFR.

Another great video Eric! I know promaxx supposedly does all the machine work here, & the heads are supposed to be made of decent material! But what I’ve seen a few times, is guys buying a complete heads with all the parts in them, then run into major issues when they drop a valve & destroy a new engine! (Valve seats were falling out on this one,) Or where a shortblock we built wouldn’t run to 4000rpm! Well the valves were the shittiest I’ve ever seen, & the so called solid roller spring setup on it had about 67lbs on the seat 🙄🙄🙄🙄! Most of the good stuff is set up by distance to bind these days! Luckily he didn’t drop a valve also! So by the time theses guys spent all the down time & money 💰 making them as best as they could be, they were both now behind thousands of dollars 🙄🙄🙄🙄! Things might be much better now???? IDK 🤷‍♂️! But if they are now putting decent parts & doing decent machine work, my question is, why are they so expensive??? Because I’ve heard of engine shops buying pallets of china heads for 100$ per casting 🙄🙄🙄🙄! You know the sellers of the castings are making money! So why do they normally come within a few hundred dollars of the good American 🇺🇸 made castings & parts! If it’s a engine we build, it only goes out with American made parts! Sometimes we have to use the scat rotating assembly’s because of cost! (Not our choice, because it’s usually some morons price shopping!) But 99% of the guys already know the deal & don’t want to send there hard earned cash 💰 to our enemies! Now sometimes parts are brought in, overseas castings & rotating assembly’s, rotating assembly’s are usually not a issue, but if there complete heads, we will not install them without going thru them! From what I’ve seen, the parts in the heads usually get replaced with good stuff! I don’t do the heads, that’s the boss & the cylinder head guy! I also know we did 2 identical BBCs probably 5 or 6 years ago, with the main difference of head castings, one AFR & one overseas castings! Same intakes same carbs, cars that weigh the same, Bla Bla Bla! The car with the AFR heads is almost 2 tenths & a few mph better! Once they spray them, there just about the same! I think 🧐 the slower one has more pill in it 🙄🙄🙄🙄! Sorry for the story! Keep them coming! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
