      I use a VIVO x100pro and a dedicated camera for street photography and I can tell you that it looks impressive on a small screen however if you open the pictures on a larger monitor you can see a lot of noise and lack of details from the phone. Still enjoy using both but a mediocre second hand camera with a kit lens for day time photography beats a phone.

      @@sirab3ee198 that's one place where the 14 Ultra is better at than the x100 series. Noise. The 14U shoots with bare minimum noise

    I recently bought Xiaomi 14 Ultra and I can see power of cameras. You were one of reasons why I bought it.
    Can you share with us your parameter presets that you usually use in pro mode?

      Hi thanks for watching the video and am glad you enjoyed it :) in every one of my videos the settings I used for each photo is on the screen (ISO / shutter speed / aperture ) pro mode is basically the concept of photography since the dawn of photography. It is a large and long subject that if you do a bit of research will make you understand how it all works. I have made videos in the past on how to use full manual on a different phone but again the concept of photography goes beyond what phone or camera you got. Hope that helps 👌

    Is that shallow depth of field in the 75mm shots natural or did you help it a bit in editing?

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some are, yes. I tend to increase what's already there as opposed to making it all up from scratch as it tends to look unnatural and unconvincing otherwise. Masking and reducing clarity / sharpness is one way to do it, lens blur only if subject is very well detached from the background already as it can be hit and miss in its current form. If I'm pretty close to a subject using the telephoto lens then there is no need for any "trickery" since natural depth of field kicks in as can be seen from some close up shots in the video. Hope that all makes sense 😊

    • @DVinstapics
      @DVinstapics 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@UpsideLens it does make sense! I usually use the blue tool to very slightly boost up the background blur when I do phone shots but it is very bad when it comes to hair or other irregular lines. But if you are able to capture those shots with this phone and slightly tweak it afterwards to make it look like that, then I wouldn't mind spending the time to do it

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really is down to having a good base to work with, like I said much easier and cleaner to have the basis right than have to make it all up. Including some foreground and having different depth elements in the shot really helps make a balanced and more "3D" like photo 👍

    What about screen flickering in artificial lighting?? Any update?!

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  หลายเดือนก่อน

      What about it ? Any camera if set to auto will flicker. You can find an option that will "fix it" but if you forget to turn it off it can mess your future recordings hence why I never have it turned on.
      The principle of flickering is nothing new it's shutter speed Vs Hz of light source. When shooting video in manual mode it's a non issue. Not sure what update you're after ?

      @UpsideLens  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Durability ? In what sense ? Apart from folding phones which are very prone to failing not much can go wrong, just like an iPhone ! In terms of "airdrop" Google has implemented their version of it called quick share. As a matter of fact after downloading an app on Mac called nearby share it works exactly like airdrop would on iPhone. Personally I couldn't have an iPhone as a daily driver, way too many barriers, android being open you have many more functionalities and it's not as "wallgardened" as Apple.

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi I think it's all down to preferences and use case, if you're starting in photography or you're not that into photography then a phone like a pixel, a Samsung or iPhone would be more than enough. If you are a photographer and know the principles already and know your way around shooting in RAW full manual then the Xiaomi 14 ultra currently is unbeatable as a whole. The 15 ultra is sadly said to use one of those all in one zooms which I'm not a fan of due to loss of native depth of field but time will tell if the rumours are true about the 15. For now the 14 ultra can be had at a cracking price. Hope that helps 👍

    Do you shoot in ultra raw? Also do you use phone filters or edit in photoshop? It turned up nice, I am learning how to get max from my 14U. I wish we were able to shoot in 50MPx jpg plus ultra raw at the same time with tele and super tele. Well, maybe with some next update...

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi, no I do not use ultra raw as it adds extra processing to the photos and ultimately adds extra shutter lag (due to the extra processing) I do not use filters, I just shoot RAW and edit in lightroom classic afterwards. I tend to avoid 50mp mode as it just adds more artefacts to the output. I tend to use if shooting in macro jpg to allow for a little extra cropping range but again, artefacts creep in fairly quick.

    • @spaceshipearth356
      @spaceshipearth356 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@UpsideLens No idea what the full difference between RAW and ultra RAW is. It would be nice if they gave more info about it. I only noticed in dark room, that closeups are much better in ultra RAW, more detailed, less noise, but it didn't looked too much processed to me. But there could be some image stacking going on as it has much more details and less noise. At least in my testing photos.
      Agree with 50mpx, but I noticed that when I zoom out to 50%, the photo has often more details. Mostly in nature, small flowers in grass etc. Looks like it looses some fine details in binning process. Not that much, but there is still some small difference.
      I mostly shoot in vibrant mode, but with leica NAT filter.

      Thank you 😊 they're also on IG. I'm still toying with the idea of having a TH-cam membership where I can share the raw file of all the photos I take for each video, since it's something a lot of people have asked for so will be looking into it in the future 👍
      I edit all my photos in Lightroom and if you're interested I have made a pack of presets (link in the description).

      You are welcome.
      So all pictures are in Raw format right ?
      I will purchase your lighroom package.

      Yes correct I always shoot RAW and manual mode to make the most out of each sensor 👍 jpg is just too limiting in terms of editing.

    But all these pictures are taken manually I would love to see how this camera performed in point and shoot scenario, because most of the users will use point and shoot.

      I have made a video comparing this phone to other phones in regular jpg but this channel focuses on actual photography as opposed to point and shoot jpg automatic mode.

      @@UpsideLens maybe it's even fair to say those looking for point & shoot to go after other products like Samsung, iPhone etc. This one phone is mainly for Pro working on manual

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would agree with this yes. The automatic jpg mode is not that great on the Xiaomi but to be honest can't think of a single phone that does ! It's the nature of the best, you shoot in auto jpg for quick random daily photos you need, kids, dog and whatever and then shoot raw and manual for actual photography. People just don't understand that shooting in auto jpg on a phone is completely different to shooting auto on an actual camera ! The harsh processing you get on a phone when shooting in auto jpg just doesn't cut it.

      It depends, if you want to be locked into an ecosystem and have overpriced ancient hardware you go for Apple, if you want the latest and greatest when it comes to camera hardware you DONT go with apple, simple 🤷
