Exactly! Blade dance is basically a free proc, and a triple strength scaling hit, while cloak and dagger could be good both for defence and attack. Also no wrath form to take double damage XD
The problem I’d see with silent is that you would struggle with energy unless you get tactician. Silent has better draw (even without her starting relic), and way more attack numbers, and like, just think about the power of storm of steel. I think as long as you can play a blade dance every first turn, you will not be caught lacking late game, cause 8 kunai’s means 13 morbillion block per card. I think silent would need tactician, blade dances, and prepareds/gamba to really pop off. With multiple tacticians acrobatics could sub for prepared.

In magic, cards are often describes as "win more" cards. Usually they are cards that cost a lot of mana and basically boil down to an effect a la "if you have something big, something bigger happens". But if you already have something big, most of the time you dont need the bigger thing, because you already are winning. Otherwise you wouldn't have the big thing. I feel like Kunai and Shuriken are similar to that. If you have a deck that consistently plays multple attacks in a turn while you are still able to survive, the extra scaling does not influence the turns too much. I guess they are really good to push an already good deck one step further, but without more general relics, your deck is just not strong enough to support these "win more" relics.
Eh, kind of. The thing about the comparison between MTG and this is in this game you need to scale. Enemies tend to scale, so you need some kind of scaling as well the further you get into the game. Sometimes you're just a combo deck going off and killing things with one big combo, but a majority of the time you need scaling offense and defense. Kunai and Shuriken, normally, are good for that. If the enemy gains 4 strength, but you've gained 4 dex, then it equals out as if they had 0 and you had 0. If you have 9 dex and they have 2 strength, you can generally play one card to block and then continue attacking, vs normally having to spend a turn defending then attacking when you can. They're great relics, but as Frost said, other relics that offer a lot of utility make decks more consistent. They give you more draw, mulligans, block, or whatever on their own. Even something like a Horn Cleat can block an attack for you, giving you more mana to play attacks instead and shortening the fight. When your relics are nothing BUT Kunai and Shuriken, you just have scaling, with no utility to help your deck be more consistent.
i dont think that really applies here. in sts you want to build your gameplan around what you find, which means if you get shuriken / kunai, youre gonna be more inclined to play or take more cheap attacks. kind of a different thing
@@doodleblah8275 Sort of. In higher ascensions, you need to find things that fix your problems now. For instance, Fire Breathing is a pretty mediocre card in most instances. However, against Slime Boss, it's a free win. So you might take Fire Breathing in act 1 purely to trivialize Slime Boss. Same thing with attacks. You generally want to start a run by taking "strikes" with an upside. Whether that's more damage, a debuff, whatever. Strike is the worst attack in the game, right? (barring Clash and Signature Move, those are really bad, but w/e) So you want to attempt to take better strikes, and remove the bad ones. However, as you get later in the game, no matter what you need some type of scaling. Just taking upgraded strikes and defends is not enough when enemies keep getting harder and harder. You need a gameplan. Something like Strength gain for Ironclad, something like Footwork or Accuracy for The Silent, etc. You need to scale up, and do more damage, and block better because enemies will have more health and do more damage the further in a run you get. Whether it comes from relics, or from cards, you need to scale. The point I wanted to make on why a Kunai and Shuriken only run is hard is that other relics also offer utility. More card draw is amazing, for instance. Something like Bag of Preparation might help you get off key powers earlier, since you have a higher chance of drawing them and getting through your deck a little bit faster. Something like Anchor might give you a turn to play a high cost card that would otherwise make you take damage for playing it, because you can't play other cards with it. When you have a run void of any kind of utility, whether it be more energy or card draw or block, it makes the run very difficult surprisingly.

the thing that scry doesn't synergize with discard is frustrating, but whats even more frustrating is that strike cards outside of ironclad don't work with perfected strike (i.e. Meteor Strike and Sneaky Strike)

Still think this would be easier on the Silent becuase you proc the effect with 1 card 1 energy. There isn't as much need for draw because a single blade dance scales you up instead of needing to draw 3 different attacks which is just bloat to the deck. Also I support Trans Arson.
You know, I think it could be a cool idea to do 'every relic is x' except you can still get boss relics normally. The energy could be poggy and help offset some relics feeling pretty bad otherwise
Genuinely sometimes I have to just ditch watching a video because I can't stand the constant TTS spam. Especially when it goes on for that long and genuinely isn't funny at all. It's only happened a few videos, but this is definitely one that I clicked off after the 4th minute straight of trans fact spam.
I can see why this would be hard the second I saw him picking the watcher lol the watcher is more about dealing tons of damage in one hit rather than lots of little ones. any of the other 3 would have just been broken

To make this a true tenten run you should do this on silent but have one ninja scroll as your first relic, so then it looks like all the kunai and shiruken are coming from the scroll like tenten
Hey Frost, I'd highly recommend the MintySpire Quality of Life mod. It has helpful reminders like glowing cards when your pen nib is ready and it calculates all possible damage you're about to take over your character's head so you don't need to do as much math.
While I acknowledge that it’s not as easy as saying “just get blade dance” I still feel like the silent makes the best use of these relics. I’m curious about how that would go, or how any attempts that were made with her did go

Idea for a run, I'd put it in the discord but I don't want to lurk there just for this one thing. Whenever you are given the option of at least 2 cards cards you have to take the card with the highest rating from your ranking videos. You can't skip, but you can remove.

Having shurikun and kunai is pretty much just worse than smooth stone and the +1 strength relic because your turn 1 matters at least 2x more than the next turn and 4x times more than the third turn. Having infinite str/dex scaleing is great, but having to play 3 attacks before you can use it is way worse. Especially with only 3 energy. Unless you can fill your deck with 0 cost cards then you won't be able to play the 4th card with all your str/dex. I do feel like silent or defect would be better.
What if you started with courier and memby. However, all your starting cards were money based, hand of greed, wish etc etc? Make Thorton and Frost Prime industries proud.
Huh, I never realized that Frost has Tourette's! He has impressive control over his tics when he's streaming. As someone with Tourette's myself, I'm usually able to tell within seconds when someone has TS, but not this time. He's either got excellent control, good meds, or an excellent editor XD
Deva form has its place, but it's rather rare. The problem with it is that it takes up an entire turn to play (in terms of energy) and on top of that only gives you net positive energy after two more turns. That makes it practically a curse in hallway fights (which only last a handful of turns usually) and only situationally good in elite and boss fights - because you also have to get it off. Sure, if you can get it off against the heart on a turn where it doesn't attack, that's sick. Those odds might not be great though, and if you spend all your energy playing deva form instead of playing block cards on a turn it *is* attacking you're just gonna be dead.
Been having an issue with this game. If it's full-screen it changes my monitor's brightness and the screen is super dark. If it's windowed, it runs at like 12 FPS... Running a GTX 2080 Super I should getting 300+ FPS in this game lmao Halp!

I think tossing in a ninja scroll as a starting relic makes this feel much better, so you're not as instantly boned by a bad draw.

Actually, in the same stream he had already tried both shiv builds and claw builds with neither working. The watcher was his last resort.

As much as Frost seems to hate it, Cloak and Dagger is the play. Get block, and add Dex/Str stacks.
The greaser hairstyle is quite a brave choice!
