Thank you for your bravery, intelligence, morality, ethics, and willingness to shed light on this topic and connect the dots. You have provided a great educational service to the public (women and men). You are correct that keeping women uneducated (in general) about their bodies (more specifically) helps only to keep women subservient in various ways in a patriarchal society. This is slowly changing but we must keep at it. And the best way to do that is through open education. You have succeeded in adding greatly to our collective education for women and for men. Thank you!
Thank you, Louisa for sharing this vitally important information with us. Its is about time that we become more educated about how our amazingly wonderful bodies are. WoW!
Bravo. I’m all for educating women (and men) about the female anatomy. So many people are embarrassed discussing such a natural and wonderful part of our bodies, or possibly ashamed. Come on everyone, what are you afraid of? Embrace the bodies nuances. If you cant communicate, on an intimate level, how on earth do you expect to truly be intimate?
Thank you Louisa! Fascinating subject. I learned a lot! Thanks for encouraging more honesty and openness in our society. This is JUST what we need today! :-)
If only I had known this forty years ago. Thank you Ms Lorenz. After reading some of the other comment's it is clear that they do not understand what you are talking about. Sad for them.
Thank You Louisa. You are right. There has never been enough education and celebration around this eigth wonder of the world. It is totally facinating That was very stimulating. Clitorally!
Thank you for standing up for us. Its sad that girls aren't taught about their own bodies, its part of their self ownership. Its also a big part of reducing shame .
It's funny but I assume everyone knows about this by now, but I bet there's a lot of men, and even women, who still don't. I can't really remember when I learned about it, but it made a lot of sense. I loved that saying. I'm going to have to go back and listen to it again. It's a perfect metaphor for the patriarchy.

"Democracy without clitoracy? Phallusy" I agree, it's a misrepresentation to omit this important information. Likewise, portraying democracy as if it's the best system of government one can hope for, the most fair and the most humane, is also an important misrepresentation. The ideal, as far as I can see, would be when every interaction is based on voluntary agreement between the people involved, a system of government called voluntaryism. This would finally do away with the violence of forcing people to obey rules they haven't agreed to, and realistically have little hope of changing.
Yes, I understand the issue and the presentation. I agree with the presenter and what she shared. If you don't agree or understand, well that is your opinion and you are entitled to an opinion.
To all the mysogenists watching this, There are all these talks about women and their anatomy because that information is not widely known at all. Why are you shaming the spread of information? Why is it less important to know about womens bodies then mens? And what is the point of watching this video if you are not going to listen and learn from the speaker? I guess you just wasted 14 minutes of your life. I hope it was worth it to you.
i enjoy how down to earth her sharing is i would like to hear more about the female prostate gland ( i believe this is the area in female anatomy that produces female ejaculation fluids also known as amarita )
All of you who have determined : 1) having an interest in the title 2) clicking 'start' to listen to a video lecture qualifies you to criticize the message, the presentation, and the abilities of the lecturer.. AND broadcast these negative comments online to the world.. Watch again.. with an open mind..tolerance and humility for the presentation and empathy for the person speaking before this live audience , perhaps delete your ' Debbie Downer Denigrations ' and instead contribute to the objectives of this researcher, this series and all of us who are attracted to this content collectively-- namely, let your choices affirm a shared core belief that internalizing and promulgating messages of ignorance, toxicity, shame and divisiveness are problematic both to ourselves and others; and choose instead to support the sharing of knowledge and experiences, actively attempting to grow into more aware human beings as a result
+She can forgive herself and others for her lack of early knowledge - the real anatomical detail was only brought to the world when she was 9 years old.
Here in our western nations, this IS information one can find online, and truly worthwhile information. When she mentioned it should be worldwide knowledge, of which I agree....it made me think of some nations....where they are just now allowing women to drive....so, it may take many many generations, before they get anywhere near this type of information to their citizenry.
Nancy Szatkowski. Some men learned to avoid self centered women. Not that those women understand why. My kitties were eaten by coyotes while hunting. That name is a tribute to 2 good cats. Thats all. It's not a snivel. But you may not understand that either.
To the presenter, I am able to understand where you're coming from and your motivation for standing up there and making this effort, but it and the ultimate goal of the story doesn't get across very well. You have made a great effort in few points there. Please considering reconstructing your story, your presentation for your next attempt. All the best. 👍
That's interesting. I guess not everyone knows their body's. I have had two different girlfriends who both knew very little about themselves and it was interesting teaching a woman things about her body that she didn't already know. It was good and I'm glad I could help but it definitely wasn't something I was expecting. Hopefully mom's get more comfortable about teaching their children, especially young girls. Society doesn't help when it stigmatizes the subject
knowledge is self generated through sponteneos research , we dont need written false authorities to build our ideas. so there is no need tô tell you sources.
I have heard this before, although I seem to remember reading it was up to a foot long which may be an exaggeration, anyway, this information must be out there although I agree it isn't common knowledge, you make some very interesting points. The human body is like our deep oceans, we only know about 10% of it.
Thank you for that analogy. My sentiments exactly. I would really appreciate more in depth research on this. Not to mention, perhaps it would be nice to inform on how to bring about propper stimulation. I think we don't even know 5% on that!
Wasn't poor at all, and as a male....I knew this, as well as a few things she didn't add, as the information IS out there, you just shouldn't feel embarrassed to look for it! Honestly, it's truly an interesting subject if you get into the fine details...for both men & women's anatomy!
We're not living in the 1950's anymore. Developing countries' education problems put aside, people in developed countries don't know about this because they choose not to. It's just a matter of asking Google. The reality is that today's 24 y.o. have many ways of accessing this information, even if influenced not to. I agree. You would be better off talking to women about how to please your wife, not listening to a Ted talk. Women aren't great at communicating what they want in bed, and men are prideful and hurt when their wives make suggestions for improvement.
Not sure the purpose of this talk. Was it to inform? Motivate? Or was it simply to complain that you weren't told what you feel you needed to hear in order to be happier? If it's the latter, welcome to the club. From what I can tell, that's the universal experience. Something we don't need to hear a TED talk on.
This whole presentation comes off as some ancient arcane mystery and was as informative as an egg shell wall and as boring as watching drying concrete. The longer she spoke the more I felt like Slim Pickens riding an atom bomb to a tertiary target. Bigger and better things to make as a life crusade.
I know exactly how you feel. For most my life I didn't know what my appendix looked like. By the time I saw it, it was too late. Still, nobody can tell me what limitations I am now subjected to since it was removed. And why do I feel incomplete now?.... I wonder if seeing a graphical representation of my stomach will make food taste better? But really, how do I exploit this new clitoral knowledge to better serve my wife?
I find this so disappointing to have someone well informed on a particular subject and able to share this information with other people yet instead immediately taking the presentation down to the level of emphasizing."the INJUSTICE" of it all. Please spare us the fault finding and share the the important and wonderful revelation of what you discovered NEW to yourself. I stopped listening @ 6:22 of her presentation. Being sensitive about having made poor choices in academics is not societies problem. That is a Louisa Lorenz problem. Take human anatomy coursework if that's your interest. But if you fail to make that choice, don't be surprised when you're not taught human anatomy. Female anatomy is taught and significantly so. But not to English majors.
I'm 65 and am shocked to find out so much more about the female anatomy. No one ever told us girls about this! Thank you...its about time!!
umm I knew most of this by the time I was 13 by reading encyclopedias lol
We were not taught about this in “ OUR DAY”!
Wow! Thank you. Lovely. Let everyone watch and absorb! Let us all honor the female and male forms in all their Glory.

Great information but a lot of repetitive topic during the speech, probably not structured well enough
Perhaps she hasn't heard of the five ps ... Proper preparation prevents poor performance ... Always sensible to do before a public presentation
This led me more of confusion than awakening.
Maybe you should do some more research. Because it’s an important topic.
I am a 40 year old male. I've only recently learned that female ejaculation is a thing.
I'm interested in what sources she found
Sources for all her information. I want to read what she found
knowledge is self generated through sponteneos research , we dont need written false authorities to build our ideas. so there is no need tô tell you sources.
U should surly make more on Tedtalk on the women & man orgasm as u learn the structure of genitalia more properly and understood
"There's no significant size difference between penises and clitorises." 'Nuff said about the validity of this woman's knowledge of human anatomy.
and 'nuff said about your comprehension skills.. or did you only manage to read the title

What's her point ??

Kathy Raven, your kidding, right?
I agree with you. Thank you for being supportive.
Of course she is brave, anyone could have seen their own presentation is pointless.
Louisa you're awesome
We're not living in the 1950's anymore. Developing countries' education problems put aside, people in developed countries don't know about this because they choose not to. It's just a matter of asking Google. The reality is that today's 24 y.o. have many ways of accessing this information, even if influenced not to. The real problem is that it's more important to them to spend their time elsewhere, instead of trying to learn something new everyday.
Trying to, somehow, associate this voluntary choice with any male-oriented-world we are supposed to live in is simply ridiculous.
Men usually don’t want to enable their women’s pleasure. Because it takes a bit of time! After all their own pleasure takes no time.
You got THAT right!!!!!
“Men” are you talking from your own experience Wendy? I think if we all made less assumptions about others then our own lives would be richer.
Women don’t come with a maintenance manual and half the time their clueless about what makes them get off.
What you said is hilarious ..... I think foreplay helps a lot .....
Complete nonsense. Men generally love to explore their partner's vulva and be told how to give her the most pleasure. In return they are allowed to be explored in the same way. This leads to a deepening of their special bond and is great fun. This presenter has no interest in regular men but seems to draw her norms from celebrity perverts and millionaire narcissists.
She is also a terrible communicator. Her anatomical mistake in assigning women a prostate is inexcusable.
now in the era of ICT everybody can "lecture " on everything !
Agree but how many women have the right info into a happy married life. Or rather their own happiness.
Clitoral anatomy is quite widely available on the internet, perhaps I am a little smug in that I knew all about it before I heard this lecture. However if you thought you already knew that it was only that little pink bump then your ignorance is at fault for not inquiring deeply enough.

What you do with the knowledge,

This has no practical information whatsoever. I learned virtually nothing from this about how to make my wife happier from watching. She makes clear it's misunderstood, then does nothing to help.
I agree. You would be better off talking to women about how to please your wife, not listening to a Ted talk. Women aren't great at communicating what they want in bed, and men are prideful and hurt when their wives make suggestions for improvement.
You think its not practical for girls to understand how their body is structured? How come?
