    What’s crazy is how Hamon from JoJo’s was pretty much a copy of Hokuto Shinken from Fist of the North Star with the same idea that it both can heal and destroy with the same martial art. Yeah Hamon has some stuff added in part 2 to make it more unique, but coming up with stands was the best idea. Crazy how Akari learned so much about storytelling from the variety that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure had for each part.

    *Fragments of a Cosmic Story* to take off!
    Reason why I wanna make a manga?
    Its my *love letter* to this beautiful art medium!
    I love the feeling of hype and interesting moments and I want to make people feel the euphoria I felt!
    For now the title will be the only piece of info to be revealed
    Edit: I'm actually not currently in the process of manga creation. Still the planning and stuff. But I do very much need it to take off! And this vid helped a lot!
    Edit 2: Jk here is some more info. Multi planetary civil war, Galactic League of Celestial Kings, Plant Planet, Sentient Humanoid Comets, Son of Creation, and Copper Stitched Ship.

    I personally dont fully agree on the comparison with AoT and Kaiju number 8 (Before anyone comes at me, im not a dear fan of either and havent read fully of 8 only heard)
    But the reason I dont is because I feel this is in fact a trope in stories way before AoT.. I cant recall its name but I know i've heard it before in stories so it felt kinda weird to single 8 out for the similarity without bringing attention to the trope itself ya know?
    Though this is also because hopefully the stories also differ as 8 seemed to focus on an adults POV in this take? ( From what I heard the MC is an adult man rather than a teen kid during the scenes that happened, yes I know Eren ages/timeskips but I mean a big portion of the first half of the story is through the eyes of him as a boy/teen lol and this would change the context of how things are seen.)

    • @PanelFlow
      @PanelFlow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure. And it's seemed to have evolved from this point, I was just looking at the pure premise of the stories from an overview.
      When I made this video, I think Kaiju Number 8 was only under like 15-20 chapters, so the fact that it's still going shows a lot for it. I haven't read it in a while.

    • @mson925
      @mson925 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the thing that makes them differ is the setting, the original part of aot is that they are trapped in walls and the characters have to with the whole political situation of the different walls and how the titans have affected their lifestyles. I haven’t read Kaiju no8 but I’ve heard it’s actually really good so I’d assume it probably has a differing setting or mc that makes it interesting.

    I have noticed that what draws me in is when the art/story has at least one thing that is familiar/recognizable to me and one thing that is "foreign"/unique to the setting/story/universe that I wouldn't find in my own world. The presence of the familiar thing tells me that there will be things I can relate to and/or understand in this no matter how unfamiliar everything else may be and the presence of the foreign (foreign as in foreign to me as a person on Earth in the year of X, not like American vs. Japanese or some other culture of anything like that)/unique thing tells me that there will be new things that make the story interesting to explore and an escapism no matter how familiar everything else may be.
    Goku riding on the cloud is a good example of this because you have the familiarity of a humanoid-looking character with trees and stuff in a setting I can recognize and relate to but the unique thing being the rail and riding on a cloud to get me excited to see how the DragonBall world differs fr my own and thus I don't need to apply boring real-world rules ad limits to wonder where the story could ho and what could happen!
    This stuff applies to realistic, real-world no magic or scifi fiction as well, but I personally enjoy stories with a little fantasy magic or scifi the most.

    Along with this book do you have any recommendations for artists literature regarding manga/comics structure? • @PanelFlow
      @PanelFlow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing really that I've found so far specifically in regards to manga/comics. Although I can give you the words of Alan Moore (who I believe) said something like this: "If you want to get better at writing good books, you should read a good book. If you really want to get better, read a bad book. That will teach you faster than any good book can"
      So for that I'd probably go down the rabbit hole of some bad manga and comics in terms of their drawings, layouts, etc. and see what you gleam from that.
      Otherwise, my next video is a continuation on this book and some other pieces of context.
