I think most EV cars looks different from conventional cars since engineers are trying to get the best aerodynamic design to help increase battery range.
The headlights are shaped to keep air away from the mirrors because the car is so quite the wind noise from the mirrors is noticeable. Really interesting!
honestly we absolutely love the car! If i had to be really critical the only things that kinda bugged us was the amount of extra energy used by the heater...fortunately that has been "fixed" and has dramatically improved in the 2013 model. the only other thing that was annoying was the placement of the release latch for the charging bay. it is located on the lower left side under the steering wheel where the trunk latch is. fortunately they have added a button for this to the key fob for 2013
Very fair review and great EV, love the quirky styling, this car saves me about £3500 per annum in fuel and servicing costs......:-) I have the 2013 Leaf and commute to work daily 70 miles each way. I charge the car while at work in about 30 minutes. At home i have a level 2 charger(6.6Kw) that was free to have installed and gives a full charge from flat in 4 hours. My wife usually uses the car in the evening shopping etc. after a quick top up. Total daily use on average is 170 miles.......:-)
Been in the drivers seat of this car and it has like the most comfortable and spacious interior I've ever seen (No joke) I'd rather be driving this than the Land Rover my cousin has
Main updates to new leaf (2014) is heating system (very effective and doesn't use a lot of range) and much better regeneration ability. All else is similar. There is black interior option. Also trunk is bigger. There is a little bit less acceleration at low speed and a little bit more at higher speed. Also power folding mirror option. Rain sensor option. Also seat heating option (including rear). Also tinted windows (almost standard). Depending on vehicle origin (US/EU/Asia) there is a possibility to silence the noise maker (incl backing up sound). Compared to old Leaf new Leaf is a must have, especially if weather is getting below freezing in the winter.
Hey Kyle! You didn't mention if you liked this car or not. You usually give your personal opinion on these test drives. It seemed `to me that you rushed a bit on the test.
Thanks Kyle for the very thorough tour. I should get my sales person here in Hawaii to give you a referral commission since I've spent more time with you than with him! :) What a fantastic oeuvre. Kudos to Nissan for releasing such an advanced and ready to roll vehicle. I plan to have Solar Photovoltaics at my house so I will be driving partially on sun power.
Road trips are fun! A lot of people hate flying too. I personally fly at least once a month for my work, and I hate it. Checking luggage, making sure it's not too heavy, getting strip searched, basically jogging to my connecting flight so I don't get left behind, worrying about layovers and delayed/canceled flights. It's just all so stressful. Most people I know do take long road trips also. My point is you have to live a certain lifestyle for this car to be a good fit.
I think that these cars are amazing but i don't think there for me i like classic and sport cars keep up the great work and congrats on the 50,000 subs kyle
World is changing. I think its very cool we are part of it. Ahead in the future, when children laugh of oil-powered vehicles and we become old, we will tell them if it wasnt for us, they'd still be opening holes in the ozone layer. . It's strange, new, quiet, technologic and odd. But its the cleanest way to foward! I like it. Thanks Kyle.
This kind of electric cars are usually 2nd or even 3rd car in a family since usually both "parents" commute to work separatly. - For longer family trips one may use their petrol car. Otherwise there are rentals that tend to be cheaper at weekends. It all depends on what one expect from a car - Remember that there are people buying huge pickups and commute them every day just because they like the feel that they can go offroad or tow heavy stuff at any given time.
@LordKevin92 I mean the traffic situation sounds like phoenix, lol. My 2012 Fit only has a 1.5 but with the weight it has combined with the i-vtec engine, it goes pretty smooth and it's peppy enough, the mpgs pay off I suppose, but that's cool! What do you get for mpg with yours?
How do you get permission from the dealer to let you do videos on there cars? they just let you? and also your such a great car review thanks for all these videos really helps out
the whole reason behind the raised headlights is so they deflect airflow around the mirrors because the airflow going around the mirror made a noise and since the engines virtually quiet, it was very audible while driving
I've seen 5 Leaf's and only two Volts other than mine this year in my area . The Leaf leases for zero down and $430 per month plus tax . I leased a 2012 Volt with an msrp of nearly $42,000 for $330 per month . Both are 12,000 annual mile leases . I also received a free 240 V charger with SPX .
lol when i looked at the gauge cluster I thought there was a fuel pump symbol for the electric power but when you zoomed in closer I realized that its a pump...with a plug! Very clever, Nissan! But I think thats supposed to resemble a charging station.
@crossont I agree, they always make them with those futuristic designs and never think they can make a nice looking car that is environmental friendly.
The headlight lenses on the Nissan Leaf were sculpted to deflect the air while driving away from the side view mirrors, because if the air wasn't deflected, the mirrors would cause much wind noise.
i just bought a leaf and i have to say this electric vehicle is amazing to drive!!!!!!!
You still got that leaf?
Nissan Leaf more like Nissan Queef. GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@Djevan41598 I guess you're in middle school. Get it?
@@thomasmartin8362 I ain’t in middle skool
Idrc if nobody else does but I love the shape of this car and it’s headlights and taillights
My wife and I just bought a 2012 Nissan Leaf. WE LOVE IT! Highly recommend this car.
Just bought one. Nice demo of the car. I couldn't believe how much torque this car had.
kyle has a really good vocabulary anyone else agree?
..."Get an exah- Oh wait, it's electric."
Haha when does he say that?
He doesn't, but it would be funny if he did.

@Logan’s Videos no you shut up
I love electric cars, but why can't they just look normal for once ffs
I couldn't agree more. That being said I think they've done a fantastic job with the 2018 Leaf 😍
So the look can slip in the air to get good mpg
Their shifter though.. WHAT IS THAT!

My first Nissan EV car!! Awesome job bro.
Oh hi did not expect to see you here the turn signal sounds like a c2
the turn signal is so loud that it can be hear from outside
The window was open..
If you shut the window when you're inside you'd go deaf from how loud it is XD

Kyle When You Power Up The Nissan Leaf That Makes Me In Love
I hate that people are bashing this car! Its engineering magnificence!
u make every car look great! nice job kyle keep it uppp!!!!

It have little more technology than a new leaf. The dashboard on a new one looks so cheap compare to this first gen Leaf

2:47 sounds like a Thomas c2 turn signal if you don’t know what it is it’s a school bus
I got goosebumps when I heard that startup.
I love the startup it sounds nice and a nice hybrid bright car!
