When Rose kamikazes into Finn, doesn't do a lot for Asian drivers.
😂
She also SAd him 😂
@@gingerandbroke1402 Maybe the most cringe kiss moment in movie history
lolz
Unbelievable, Asian driver would have just missed completely. Movie magic
The fact that there was not one single scene with Han, Luke abd Leia is the biggest fumble in the sequel trilogy
I'll never forgive them for that.
That’s the biggest sin of the franchise man. I’ll never understand why it didn’t happen
EVERYBODY still leaving Chewie out! I think he'd rather be included then get that stupid medal lmfao.
IIRC her plan would've failed too of it wasn't for Luke showing up last minute. Which they couldn't have planned for at all
Amen.
Holdo is completely incompetent as a leader. She purposely withholds crucial information to her subordinates about their mission, which results in a mutiny.
And with not even a hint of a reasonable explanation for why doing so was the right thing to do.
And she did it in such a high-handed, condescending way. All she had to do was say "trust me, I have a plan but I can't talk about it just yet, so just sit tight." She had such a reputation (according to the movie, and also the tie in novel about this character that none of the audience had heard of before) that this probably would have been enough for Poe to respect. Instead, she was such an asshole and seemed so unfit to lead that it prompted a mutiny attempt by Poe. Or hell, she could have trusted Poe, who played such a critical role in Force Awakens, and just cut away when she told him the plan to preserve the surprise for the audience (and this is without getting into the franchise implications of the so-called "Holdo Maneuver").
The first time I saw the movie, I thought she had been bought off by the First Order and was secretly working for them. And this, of course, was all in service to Johnson's obsession with "subverting expectations" in this movie. Subvert, even if it makes no fucking sense!
Neeeeeeeeeeeerrdddddd
Still lookin fine as hell tho

If you're enjoying life then this is the perfect movie to change that
I'm stealing this...
I had a heart attack and double bypass 2 days after seeing this
2 girls said, hold my cup.
Lol
The "centipede" doesn't hold a candle to this😂
The problem with the Rey character is there is zero character arc, no struggle, no failure for her. She is the best/flawless at everything immediately
The funniest part is when they have her train in the 3rd movie as if they heard this critique but didn't understand that people are supposed to train before they get good, not after. 😂
Tbf, she's probably relatable to girls who don't know what they want in life but consider themselves the best thing ever. The real joke of a character is Rose.
Like a woman. Just has to turn around 18
Yet I'm labeled a sexist and misogynist for pointing that out, lol.
@@1976brenden Don’t forget: she grew up desperately poor on a dessert planet, but the first time she saw water she dove in and swam like a fish.
She don’t need no man…she bypassed the oppressor!
And wasn’t the whole point of her staff in TFA to set up plausible talent with a similar weapon later in the trilogy? A staff and a laser sword don’t share a lot of techniques, but she’s an instant expert in swordplay, and utterly undefeatable in a skill she never trained in, against experts. Duh.
This argument needs to die and be done. Luke was a Mary Sue. Anakin was a Mary Sue. Palpatine was a Mary Sue in the books. Young Yoda was a Mary Sue in the books.
Quit acting like its only her because she is a woman. All the dudes were Mary Sues, get over it and get over yourself
Turning Star Wars into a girls brand will go down as the most expensive mistake in history.
Not to mention one of, if not thee, stupidest decisions that should've never been made.
Turning Hollywood fully gay will be.
One of the gayest too.
Lmaooo, nerd.
It’s not even like we care they wanted a woman hero…. We wanted legacy characters to be respected we wanted the lore to be respected if the Jedi/sith we get is black gay females then spend the damn time making them entertaining lol don’t bring back George’s main villain cause your to lazy to write snoke into a viable villain… sure we would connect to a Luke better than a Rey but we wouldn’t outright shut Rey out unless she didn’t fit the way Star wars was written originally. They made their investments back just off the three movies but they could’ve tripled their money had they respected Lucas’ vision from the beginning
My best friend saw this, gave it his seal of approval, and I have never trusted his opinion on anything since
I’m sorry for your loss. I hope your new best friend has better taste
I wouldn't even wish this on my worst enemy 😦
I’m really glad all my friends had fun shredding this movie apart. I’m sorry for your loss
Good.
That’s…..unhealthy 🤣🤣
I love how rose is tasering anyone daring to leave a doomed ship when its a volunteer organization. Everyone of them probably died stuck in the brig when holdo rammed the ship
😂😂
I mean, the Army is a volunteer organization and they’ll still kill you for desertion.
holy shit, I never thought of that
Brother she straight up kills a shit ton of rebels by stopping Finn from sacrificing his life Voluntarily.
She's a literal Devil.
Hilarious concept. Needs a skit, immediately.
The Last Jedi was the OJ Simpson chase in space.
"You take drugs Danny?"
"Everyday."
"Good, so what's the problem?"
@ na na na na na…
I've been saying the exact same thing since the first time I saw it! It's so goddamn stupid that they just slow speed chase the rebel fleet as if they can't maneuver in front of them or send faster ships to attack...they're in goddamn space and still fly like a horizon exists!
@@DemorezThey also don’t posses weapons that are able to shoot straight ahead, apparently.
No, that was actually suspenseful and exciting
Constanly laughing at the movie because Rose Tico reminded me of Bobby Lee being awkward on MadTV was probably not what they intended.
Uh oh
HOTDOG! 🤷
Dawg, she was a strange cast pick 😂 I couldn’t take their scenes seriously
We already learned from Weinstein that people aren't getting Hollywood roles based on their acting ability.
The hyperspace ramming destroyed space combat in SW. All they have to do is have a droid in a cheap ship and have it hyperspace jump into Star Destroyer. No need to risk pilots.
One of the least believable things about the franchise is they don't have drone fleets, and it was abandoned as unstable tech. Yeah, right. You'll clone a bunch of bounty hunters with bad aim, but no mass use of remotely piloted fleets or vehicles?
@@Derek-el5ivgreat point
@@Derek-el5ivit’s prob because they ret conned the infinite empire and the Rakata who were all about droids and automated shit, but then again they don’t seem to care about any lore
it was an easy fix: They do something to the ship that is extremely difficult to do without it exploding in order to misuse the hyper drive
Isn’t the droid army technically a drone army? After the rich guys of the trade federation were killed off, nobody was able to finance the droid army.
The Last Jedi was THE movie that officially killed Star Wars. People forget that The Force Awakens was actually very well recieved
Love him or hate him, JJ Abrams was correct when he said “people don’t go to the movies to NOT have their questions answered.”
The sequel trilogy failed because it didn’t have a consistent vision. Or if it did, they threw it out to make the TDS inspired temper tantrum that was TLJ.
@@generalesdeath5836 🚫
@@generalesdeath5836 I've said on several occasions that if they just left the writing to JJ and his team and let Abrams direct all 3, or at least had an overarching story for the directors to stick to like George and the OT. The Sequels would have been much better movies. Disney's lack of a plan and their "let the directors do whatever they want" attitude was the worst thing they could have done to Star Wars.
The Last Jedi was so bad it made The Force Awakens worse.
The Force Awakens sucked from day one.
I remember when I saw The Last Jedi. My girlfriend at the time had just broken up with me, so I was really really depressed. So I was already sad to begin with. Then I think I left the theater even MORE depressed than when I went in, lol.
That's the point.
TBF my man how can you expect anything else lol? The first one was just a consistent Mary Sue hammer over and over. She could legitimately do no wrong and when people noticed it was just labeled $EXIST. I knew they wouldn't be able to just leave it alone so I wasn't surprised by purple hair lady. It's legit doubling down.
Eventually you realize that the people who make this stuff just hate you. They're not interested in art, or entertainment, or even making money. People say "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" but what they should say is "don't let malice wear the mask of incompetence."
Then they shrank Finn on the overseas poster's, so I knew then the people pushing this crap have no spine.
I remember seeing The Last Jedi cause it's the last Star Wars movie I ever watched. I wasn't even mad about it, it was more of a resigned "yeah I'm done wasting time on these movies." It was a little sad, but I didn't even really care enough to get upset.
If you wasted your money with the last jedi you clearly thought force awakens was worth it so it’s your own fault. I asked for my money back after force awakens lol last jedi was pretty funny tho right about the time leia floated through space I realized everyone was about to jump on the hate train
@@yuri7885 I remember saying TLJ was better than I expected it to be right at the end of the movie. My only explanation for this is shock. Because the more I thought about the movie over the next couple of days, the more I realized just how bad it actually was. Visuals and sound design, amazing. Story, crap.
Yeah, the woke symbolism of 'white-british' vs 'diverse-american' is so on-the-nose. Tiresome.

Love Star Wars! Also love TLJ. Only one in the seauel trilogy that understood George Lucas.
@AnIllusiveFlorentine To be fair that is nonsense. It didn't even understand the movie it was meant to be a sequel to never mind Star Wars in general.

Rian Johnson when writing the script: “I GOTTA GGGOOD BRAIN”
"tThIs mAkEs mE HaHaHaPpi"
@@josephbuono4392 So bad they made my eyes rain.
Here's my biggest gripe with this phenomenon:
Generally the most important creators in the science fiction & fantasy space are men. J.R.R. Tolkien, George Lucas, Stan Lee, Steven Spielberg, George R.R. Martin, Gene Roddenbery, Michael Crichton etc etc. (I'm not even saying that's the way it should be, merely that that is how it has been)
These creators came up with wondrous stories and worlds and characters. Most of the characters are men, but usually women are represented too, from the beginning. Princess Leia, Eowyn and Galadriel, Cersei Lannister and Arya Stark, etc etc
In recent years, female Hollywood executives have basically been on a mission to take popular IPs and go "yeah, that's OUR SHIT now." Rather than fostering the creation of brand-new female centric characters and worlds
And if you protest this treatment of your favorite IP, you get dragged as "toxic fandom" and misogynistic to boot
Make your own stuff, ladies 😅 I know yall can do it, because My Little Pony has slapped for years
Lord of the Rings does not have almost any women and that is just Tolkien writing a story before Woke "historians" and writers decided to try and strongarm any scrap of female empowerment they could into everything so that modern people just kind of forget that women spent the last 10,000 years getting flattened by men.
They want everyone in 2024 to think about "The Patriarchy" 24/7/365, but then when it's time for a historical / historical-fantasy movie, they suddenly want all the female characters to act like they're YAAAAASSS QUEEN SLAY strong independent women who don't need no man like the Patriarchy never existed in the past, only now in 2024. Apparently women in 1612 were doing double backflips with two swords while wall running and fighting 38 guards, but women in 2024 are "oppressed."
They’re definitely not living up to that “anything you can do I can do better” mantra 😂
@@twelvecatsinatrenchcoatwhat are you talking about. The women he just referred to for Tolkien are essential main pieces in the story arc and are not flubbed as cheap writing.
I'm pretty sure I've read a fantasty book that has had a female lead but it's not a main point. This woke shit is valuing people based on their gender/race etc rather than their skill at acting etc. it's the opposite of what Martin Luther said in his speech essentially
When he says females are hardly used in the military, he’s mainly talking about combat. There have been trials for female infantry but they typically have to lower the physical standards for them to pass. Not saying anything bad about women, just saying the physiology is not conducive to today’s (and especially past) combat. Im a Marine combat veteran (Iraq) and had a female Marine who was adamant she could be infantry… so I put my gear on and told her I was wounded and needed her to drag me to safety… she couldn’t move me an inch.
"When you put 120lbs on the back of a woman, she crumbles like a fucking crouton." - Col. Frank O'Sullivan
Across the board we should stop playing this game with lowing the standards for women. It makes them arrogant with unrealistic expectations and ends up being dangerous for themselves and the men who have to pick up the slack. No female cops. No female soldiers. Etc.
@@DisposableSupervillainHenchmanAmen.
They did the same with fire depts across the country. Women couldn't pass the physical so they lowered it for everyone. Its insane for a country to have lost the plot to such an extent.

I saw TLJ in the cinema with my cousin, and we both looked at each other when the mary poppins scene happened.
One guy in my theater said, "...What?" very mildly, and we were all so baffled that we didn't even react to him. He just said what we were thinking.
Man, I left the theater with two other long time SW fans (a husband and wife) and we were quiet the whole ride home.
Surprised Shane hasn't brought that scene up lol
Really took the movie from bad to all time bad
Me and my little brother go all the nerd movies together. Throughout the movie leading up to Mary Poppins moment, we kept glancing at each other with confused faces. When she started flying back to the ship we silently turned to each other and then BURSTED out laughing. Just threw my hands up and accepted it was trash
@@jetrexdesignmight have been me. I’m not a guy that talks during movies I think it’s annoying, but I let out an uncontrolled “what the fuck” and looked around the theater to see if anyone else thought the scene was as absurd as I did.
The Last Jedi is the movie that made me lower my expectations for everything that came out afterward. Not just Star Wars. I mean EVERYTHING. I dont trust any movie until I watch it.

I don't really follow, since the overall aesthetic theme is still British empire vs American rebels (who are still mostly white in the main cast). Even tho rey's accent contradicts that, which is annoying.
Its funny when they say, "Boo hoo, star wars wasn't the way you wanted it," but the only reason they changed is because they boo-hoo'd first that star wars wasn't the way THEY wanted. Funny how that works, huh?

Which way is self sustaining? Cause it isn't TLJ.
It’s funny you have to blame fans for a dogshit movie instead of simply blaming the people who made it. But why let reality get in the way when you can cry about shit you made up in your head.

Rian Johnson sucks
Nah, Knives out was good. Looper was good. Brick was okay.
Star Wars isn't having a Director/Actor problem. Star Wars is having Executives and Writers problems. The overall planning/direction of the IP and the execution of the stories, dialogue, character choices are A MESS. That's producers and executives and writers making those mistakes, not directors and actors.
Even if you don't like the choices Rian Johnson made, THEY HIRED HIM, and had meetings with him, and heard his ideas, and gave him a green light.
@@twelvecatsinatrenchcoatYou’re welcome to your opinion, and you have a point but I would argue that he still sucks. You’re correct that it all starts at the top, and nobody should have hired a twerp who said he’d love to make a movie that half the audience would hate. But you are forgetting that he wrote TLJ as well as directing it, and boy did it suck. He intentionally upended the franchise based on wild misunderstandings of the story and characters, ignoring all considerations other than telling his story, which did the opposite of advancing anything, closed off building storylines like Snoke completely, and seemed to truncate the unplanned trilogy. The lack of plan wasn’t his fault, since he was writing and directing TLJ before TFA even came out, but he didn’t have to meander carelessly into a dead end, forcing a hack like JJ to turn the third movie into both setup AND payoff. Add to that that it’s been all downhill since, and he’s shown plenty of contempt but no humility, and he comes out looking like a selfish jerk. Remember “your Snoke theory sucks”? I thought at the time it meant he had a great origin to tell, but instead he resolved that mystery by simply killing him off and never telling us anything about him. I think that was cowardly and uncreative. He doesn’t understand Luke or Yoda, but he’ll happily get paid millions to clumsily chart their course. I don’t respect the guy.

no commanding officer would speak to a subordinate like that, especially in front of his subordinates. It undermines his authority to them. PS Star Wars is bollocks since Disney bought it
Accurate. I was so confused when they introduced Holdo as the general in charge. Where is her uniform? Her rank insignia? She looks like she was getting ready for a grand gala event in some ballroom. The Resistance is still a structured military and their rank and file and officers all are uniformed, but not her? You always chastise in private, and praise in public. Also, a good leader which she is claimed to be, would never dismiss the concerns of one of their top fighters, and in a situation as dire as they were in 'shut up and follow my orders' doesn't work. ESPECIALLY since they are a resistance/rebellion, they all joined specifically because they didn't want to shut up and follow orders from the Republic. Don't have to reveal your whole grand strategy, especially in public setting, but in private when you dress down your best soldier, you can still inform them of some things, to assuage them that they are still following a competent leader.
Maybe they were trying to play her off as a 'new' version of Mon Mothma, but they forgot that Mothma was NOT a military leader. She was the civil head of the rebellion and then Republic. She gave directives and goals to the generals (Dodonna, Ackbar, Madine, etc) and the generals formulated the plan, they were in military uniforms, they explained things to their soldiers. They tried to make Holdo both Mothma and Ackbar and picked the wrong bits of both characters and positions to meld together.
She had to put him in his place with toxic masculinity
The Expanse is such a better scifi story than SW

I rewatched "The Martian" last night, and I'd forgotten China came to the rescue of NASA with an extra booster rocket. It never occurred to me that Hollywood was pandering to the Chinese market with that little detail.
It’s a detail from the book it’s based on, so blame the author.

I don’t remember hating the film at the time but I did leave the cinema feeling like this brand just didn’t appeal to me anymore, like it was time to move on. They literally said something like “let the past die” or something.
The film had a finality to it the way Luke died and there was no cliffhanger for a 3rd entry.
Disney don’t owe the “fans” anything. It’s a product. If you don’t like the product. Ignore it and find something else. It’s not like there aren’t other options.
Yeah, this sort of corporate product marketing really shook me out of the idea that mainstream movies are art and something to learn from or engage with. They're not, they're commercials for other products.

Anyone saying the original trilogy wasn’t diverse, wasn’t actually paying attention, and were never fans of Star Wars. Bespin was incredibly diverse, not including Billy Dee Williams, so was Tattooine in ‘A New Hope’ and Jabba’s Palace in ‘Return of the Jedi’, these vandals and wh*res just wanted any excuse to ‘problematize’ the series so as to deface it and reduce it further down into propaganda for the Regime. The Dismay (Disney) trilogy was an anti-fan spite fiction.

They could have built on an already existing Admiral-Ackbar to make the story and moment more memorable.
This trilogy made me a fan of the Empire. The New Republic was a woke disaster.

It's too many humans. It looks like a Silicon Valley Café, not Star Wars.
The arrogance of these inclusivity diversity people is that every space they gain control over ends up looking like a Buzzfeed office, and all the actual diversity is eliminated or driven out. Even fake scifi worlds aren't immune
This is the best Last Jedi review ever 😂😂😂
I’m for the rebelión being diverse. All in one nice place for the next Death Star laser 😂
just wanted to say that you are miles above other podcast clippers. Like you make good content that is actually quality. Best of luck to you man you are fantastic.
Grilled cheese and space wizards is the least weird thing on Izzy's channel
I used to think the prequel trilogy was terrible... then I saw the sequel trilogy.
I watched this movie in like 20 batches. Worst movie ever made.
Beyond the worst.
Nah, if this is the worst movie you've ever seen you haven't seen any _actual_ bad movies
It's one of the most divisive and brand disrespectful films I've ever seen though, and i agree that it does suck. But there are much worse
"..some fuckin' asians."
Lmao.
That was a well thought out, properly reasoned, criticism of The Last Jedi.
The Rey stuff is actually pretty decent. The "nobody from nowhere" theme is great, and I wish they stuck with it. The other two thirds of the movie is pretty lame. Why would Finn --- the child soldier --- need to learn that this war affects more people than you would think? Hux was such a monster in the Force Awakens, and now he's just a punching bag. Po's story was fairly unengaging. It's great to see Luke again, but using him as this jaded old-timer seems odd when the original trilogy painted him as this character who will stop at nothing to fight for what he believes in.
Finn had the most potential to be interesting, but they destroyed his character.
the problem was rey was shit by 7 when she beat kylo. so she can’t just beat nobody and auto learn force powers through plot and beat the grandson of the chosen one who is also allegedly in verse insanely strong.
she had no chance after tfa
I agree
Gotta disagree with you on Luke there. Love him in this, his character as a whole really ties the film’s themes regarding repetition of the past and letting it go. That scene of him on Crait willingly sacrificing himself and buying time for the Resistance to get away all without using violence is beautiful, that’s what Lucas envisioned a jedi to do.

@00:38 - 'so they've diversified the movie. They've made it more diverse... which is cool.' C'mon, man. Don't do that. That's like a former catholic still crossing themselves when something superstitious happens. We all know it wasn't 'cool'. Definitely not the way Disney chose to do it.
Shane will 100% be promoting the next democrat presidential candidate
Dude is cool with aliens but not Indians and blacks lmao
Ehhh it was fine. The Rebellion was always supposed to be diverse in comparison to the Empire. If u don't get that you don't get star wars
@@cloudmaster182it was terrible....it is disney that doesn't get star wars 😂😂
@keith9267 yea the movie was bad. Diversifying the cast a bit isnt what made it bad. 90% of star wars fans don't understand or really even like/enjoy star wars either tbf
Technically Finn wasn't originally part of the rebellion, so the First Order did at least have one black before he defected.
lmao what if all the stormtroopers are black
The only movie with Rey that I want to see is one where she lands on Endor and a group of hungry Ewoks eat her.
George lucas' private collection 😊
I think I seen that movie on Pornhub. Star Wars Episode X. In your Endor. 🤔
I can think of some other movies with Rey that I want to see....
@cotybowman8825 I think I seen that movie. Star Wars Episode X. In Reys Endor.
Lol! I keep telling my friends, they should have made her the villain. Sure, she can be great at everything she does, instantly, but what if she's the bad guy now? Whatcha gonna do vs someone who aces everything she does as a telekinetic ninja, who now wants you dead and your only defense is a simp emo who just killed his once cool, but now deadbeat dad?
The Last Jedi was the most disappointing movie I’ve ever seen. The only Star Wars movie I’ve never rewatched
You rewatched Rise of Skywalker?
Damn.. I'd love Lucy Liu as a jedi or sith o.O
That would have been epic!
It only just occurred to me that when Poe says “not what I was expecting”, it was intended to be sexist.
I always read it as “how is this dainty woman an Admiral?” Regardless of gender you’d expect a freaking Admiral to be wartorn and rugged.
Star Wars is nothing to me now. Disney ruined Star Wars that’s just fact, I truly don’t care what money they have made bc it’s going down drastically each movie
Star Wars - A New Hope was about this random nobody from nowhere, who used to stare out to the heavens and dream of something better. He goes from obscurity to saving the Galaxy. Everybody's childhood fantasy. The Force Awakens heavily implied the same arc with Rey. Then TLJ came along and said that she is nobody special, Luke isn't anyone special, the Jedi weren't special and the force is pretty much just this stupid thing about moving rocks. Wow, how exciting...as soon as Luke flung the lightsaber over his shoulder I knew it was going to suck.
I distinctly remember watching this movie and when it ended having absolutely no desire to ever see another Star Wars movie ever again.
Star Wars didnt change. Some of the ausience turned into a bunch of snowflakes. The Rebels were always diverse. The bad guys were always British white men. The Rebels were always supposed to be the Viet Cong. Remember when the Rebels were lead by a woman? Remember when Leia would treat the guys like they didnt know what they were doing, taking over and calling Han a flyboy?
