    Gonna be funny seeing the old bjj guys crying that you can actually get black belt in 4 years rather than 10+ like they like to say.

      well lets be honest, his coach is just giving black belts blindly, he gives it to a guy whos winning with steroids and strength from that steroid, although i know i would lose fighting against him, hes not technically there as black belt.

    Black belt in NoGi only doesn’t make sense. You don’t use a belt for NoGi only in Gi we use a belt so train both Gi and NoGi

    • @chipotle_
      @chipotle_ หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Belts essentially mean nothing. It’s a way to show the coaches opinions on their student’s progress.
      Theres no curriculum or standardisation in the way people are graded so its up to each coach to promote when they see fit

    • @Reflectionmaterial
      @Reflectionmaterial หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@chipotle_ so what is the value of a belt in BJJ then??
      Because the more I learn about it, the more it seems like a meaningless symbol to keep non competitors motivated and create a hierarchy that does not fit reality.

    I dont get the hate, I really dont. Josh's coach made the decision that his skill level, was that of a black belt, you cant hate on Josh for that, just wish him congrats and goodluck on his path.
    I wont even get in on the "you have to train gi and no gi to be a legit black belt". Seems similar to that old saying "jiu jitsu and technique is all you need for MMA".
    Jiu jitsu and absolutes 😐

  • @accain1314

      Define “good”. It depends how you think about it. You will never be the next Gordon Ryan. You can def reach that level of excellence with 3/week, but never that olympian or elite level. But at the end if the day, it’s a “hobby” right? Enjoy the journey and the time you spend on the mat

      By the time you are bluebelt, which you would achieve in about a year or two with regular training, your grappling would be good enough to beat most untrained people on the street. Add some judo/wrestling and some form of striking for a year or two and you would be good for self defence.
