I really love your content. I'd really like to hear your opinion on the choi bar, because theres definitely a ton of opportunities for it in this sequence.
Great video and wise words!
Putting yourself in a fully extended armbar with white belts sounds a terrible idea 😂
I got so frustrated with this issue that if guys insist on standing up, I wrestle up and play anti wrestling. Now it's on them to take me down.
I don't understand why anyone ever passes on their knees. Passing on the feet allows you to be more agile, and requires so much less energy
Rocha 40 years old adcc vet just got hospitalized has heart because of heart complications. Now let that sink in.
I hope this glitch doesnt get patched before i get to abuse it
Hmm, why not underhook of the leg?
You don’t burn calories from thinking mate. 6000 calories playing chess ffs hahaha.
1:20 What would you do if they keep their legs crossed at this stage and immediately follow and mount you?
Twice a week 3x when im lucky. One day i focus on pulling guard to my A Game and working feom there to sweep and submit. Day 2 i work on takedowns and guard passing. Ill try to force my opponent into specific guards if i can, if not i pass whatever is in front of me. Sometimes i get swept, sometimes i get passed and smashed the whole round. Other days i do well. 😢
I can't touch caffeine. One roll, I'll crush. The next roll, random panic attack. I dropped caffeine and no more panic attacks.
Good coaching
You're a MF content machine Josh, fair play to you. What's even better is it's actually good content!
what over rap enteries would you go for - SLX?
BOW AND ARROW? EZEKIEL? HELICOPTER CHOKE? Bicep Slice? Baseball? Gi 🔥
"...and I also did this to the ginger yesterday. " *Thumbs up in confirmation.
i needed this, thanks mate.
Dude U r so good
What you said at 1:10 that is absolutely not true against experienced and aggressive opponents/partners. They will circle, go over, blast through, combat base and do all manner of things. All the techniques from there onward are great, but the entry that enables them not so much. Maybe the focus of the video is on the follow ups but the entry is equally important.
Great instructional, thank you Josh. I'm a new white belt and almost always end up being taken down and forced to play bottom half guard and trying to survive. This butterfly guard system will help me give my sparring partners a few surprises.
Question: 1. Why an overwrap over a underscoop on the far leg? Most of the youtube videos i have seen for leg entries on half butterfly use an underscoop so im interested to know if the overwrap is better. My problem with the underscoop is that they sit on my arm to trap it and prevent me going for the choi bar when they do the cross face.
Thats why you overhook. You’re not going for a leg entry its just a bait to get access to double unders
@@joanymartinez6501 Hi thanks for clarifying. I have been trying to find a video of an overwrap leg entry but no luck so far. The reason why is because if Im doing it for bait, i need to atleast have an actual legitimate move with the overwrap to "sell" it. Hopefully Josh replies to this question.
He responded to another comment about cross facing half butterfly leads to leg entries idk ab the overwrap
Im not sure if this is the full answer but i think i found it. Less impressed More involved has a video on it. He calls it an overclasp. He is saying it prevents backtake counters when going for the legs. th-cam.com/video/6O5tsmD52qI/w-d-xo.html
Just curios why you call certain moves the japanese terms when your students speak english. Just a FYI, the Japanese named the moves like the triangle, d=sangaku, which means triangle. So it wouldnt be bad translating the japanese terms to engish, that way the teaching makes more sense to your students. You dont have to be a carbon copy of Danaher, Gordon you know
I pretty sure the Japanese names are more common than the English ones
Relax my brather... It's just names...
Because they all speak Japanese
Everyone I've watched that teaches uses the most common term for it. Not just danger and Gordon... But yer it's a bit of a weird concept really, I'm sure with time it fades
such a simple but important detail that I never knew ; go for the leg and they leave their upper body for the underhook.
Great stuff. Can you show a full potential leg entry you threaten with?
Best tutorials that are easily applied in live rolls!
What would you call a gaurd with 1 butterfly hook and the other leg more like closed guard?
that kinda sounds like K guard
3/4 guard
Gingers can be useful ❤
How do you use that overwrap?
Love these sequences. When you first grab the overwrap on the leg to try and force the sprawl reaction, what is stopping them from grabbing a crossface with that far arm at that point?
Nothing, but it’s a bad idea to crossface in a half butterfly as it’s an easy leg entry
body lock pass
the ending was hysterical
What are some things to do with the overwrap on the leg if they don't pull it back?
Enter ashi on overwrap leg
Cross lat grip to push them away and enter SLX on the leg
Correct 👍🏻 @yannmoyes2493
ginger lad looks like hes having a comfy nap in josh's double underhooks
6:37 nevermind
Awesome stuff as usual. Thanks.
Love it
These podcast are gonna take off soon🔥💪
Amazing🔥🔥
I'm not some guy with a clipboard, I'm going to give you real life experience. I'm not a doctor, take everything I say with a grain of salt. 🙄
That thousand yard stare after getting ankle locked a thousand times in a session is a real thing 😂
As blue belt, how would you advise as the best way to manage your rolls? How should you be approaching each round? Look for upper belts and upper weights? The opposite? Would like to hear your opinion on this. Cheers and congrats for the amazing content you’ve been adding lately.
1/4 Running in circles, jumping jacks. 2/4 Random technique of the day. 1/4 Everyone's cooled down again, let's roll. So glad our coaches are smarter than that.
Got my sub! Thank you for the content, my son and I have been seeing big improvement by simply watching and practicing your videos. 👏
How were you tracking your heart rate during your matches?
😂😂
Great work but a fixed camera for another angle would be great
For some of these you ranked them lower because people execute them with improper technique (you said this for triangle, arm in guillotine and darce for example). But it's not the fault of the move itself for people not understanding how to do them correctly
@3:03 playing attention
I am not nervous until I step in the venue then I find I lose 40% of myself but I this is good advice I hope I can perform better in comps if I follow some of this stuff.
Hey Josh would love to see how you react to the opposite, an aggressive top player. Someone getting in your face. Thanks mate!
