Did everything in the game back on PS2 days, then i got the platinum on the PS3 remaster. Now with it coming out on Steam, you've convinced me to go for a NSG run. Wish me luck!
I must say if you did the no sphere grid walkthrough of FF10 I would most definitely watch it. Watched your FF10 and FF10-2 at least 2 or 3 times, so I would be interested in watching you do this.
The very first time I played this game I was probably around 6 and didn't understand the sphere grid. Made it all the way to the frozen part of macalania without it ! Hahaha
Matty Kubik I did the EXACT same thing, but I made it all the way to Gagazet. I literally beat Seymour, TWICE, with no sphere grid, before getting stuck. the boss that finally stumped me was the guado machina at the entrance to Gagazet.
sweet, never thought this would even be possible. only played this game a few times but it's still definitely my favorite game of all time. the dark aeons sound like a pain in the ass though haha. thank you for the information man
I'm quite pleased that you made this video. I've been tinkering with the idea of doing a NSG play through for awhile now. Now that I have my Twitch channel, it's been even more alluring. It's always seemed like such a daunting task though. I'm glad that you alleviated my worries good sir.
I started this run a few months ago when I first watched the video. still not done with it, just reached zanarkand, but with every step I take its crazy the amount of options you have available. I thought there would only be one or two ways to beat each boss but the farther I get, the more strats I find for previous and current bosses. definitely been a blast, too much actually, considering I was still playing in finals week about a month ago. I just wanted to comment again and say thanks for uploading the video. probably never would've even thought of searching for a challenge like this otherwise.
I find there’s 3 must buy weapons to complete this run and then the rest is completely up to how you want to approach it. Dan mentions two of the items been the First Strike and Initiative weapons. The third one not mentioned is buying a sword with Slow Touch for Tidus in Luca from O’aka during the Blizball tournament. Having Slow Touch is basically a must for the boss at the moon flow and is incredibly useful against several bosses in the early to mid game.
I've recently decided to replay ffx. A few years ago I did a generic nsg challenge, but this time I'm kicking it up a notch. I'm doing nsg, no summons, no fleeing/ no "no escape" ability, no customize, no blitz ball (so no easy dark matters, attack reels, or Waka's celestial weapon), and no trio of 9999. I am allowing overdrives, but Waka will be lacking his good one, Yuna doesn't have one, and I'm not allowing Rikku's best one, so I think it'll still be balanced to use them. While grinding for some good equipment I stumbled upon your commentary playthough. Very good content man, and I just felt like this was a good video in the play list to comment on. It's kinda funny, I just moved on to the thunder plains after a bout of stealing everything there is to steal prior, and I've watched you beat the entire game and then some. About to watch your ffx-2 stuff.
Thanks to this, I have started a No Sphere Grid, No Summoning and No Trio or Quartet of 9 run. Just beat chocobo eater, felt like the first proper roadblock and is sorting of optional, but I persevered and defeated it. Exactly as said, try your own strats first, don't just look up how to beat bosses pre-emptively - great advice. Haven't enjoyed fighting chocobo eater so much in over 20 years.
hey man im not sure if you read comments on old videos but ill leave this here anyway. I have been playing ffx since its day of release on ps2 and got 10 for ps3 and ps4 lol. Im playing a casual playthrough on ps4 right now started a week ago. I was looking for some guides/ tips on youtube and your channel popped up i have never heard of you until 2 days ago and now im addicted to your channel!. the amount of content on your channel is amazing and the quality of the content as well. I now have the daunting task of watching your platinum walkthrough and NSG videos. This very video has got me interested in NSG runs the sad thing being that i thought i was a semi veteranof the game but gad only heard about NSG runs about 6 months ago massive face palm. The other thing being that i have never beat all dark aeons plus penance before and now i think you have given me confidence to try. It sounds like your english as well which is good im Scottish and its nice to have British gamers talk about Final Fantasy it seems rare not that im dissing any other FF gamers Dark Kefka has incredible knowledge on the games. Hopefully when FF 15 releases you will cover that as well. Any peace man thank you for giving me a whole new channel to watch i can only subsribe and keep watch over my newsfeed hopefully thats enough for now i wish i could do more Thank You.
+Ross Graham I try to read what I can, and I take a special interest when people take the time to write nice things :P I appreciate it man, glad you found yourself something new to watch. Best of luck with the NSG stuff, it really isn't difficult, and there are hundreds of guides out there. You'll find all the answers you need. Peace.
I remember when I first played the game I thought just going over the spheres gave me the bonuses, completed like 2-3 circles before I hit the "use" button.
This is something someone can’t do accidentally or on the first play-through. Anyone who claim to have are obviously lying. It takes a lot of planning, set up and item/armor hoarding. Takes an understanding of the game that a new player wouldn’t know.
I know, there's so many braggerts in the comments saying how their first time they didn't know how to use the sphere grid but made it impossibly far lmao
I never did this but it’s very interesting. I got to Mi’Hen highroad without the sphere grid on PS2 as I ignored it for having no clue about it. But I died a lot and ended up looking up what to do and started to use it.
So, my main question is this: Is it possible to fuck yourself over in this? For example, say you need a certain item for a boss, but you can no longer steal more because of where you're at. Can this happen?
I actually like playing ffx. A no sphere grid no aeon run would make me hate it. Entry to further challenges. What like that isnt masochistic enough. Its not weak to not like dark souls. I could olay the game if it wasnt for the respawn mechanics and the loss off souls after death. Lets face it you dont know how you got that far without dieing but your not making it back for those 10 000 souls. Its not the difficulty. Its the anger it brings up i didnt ask for when i sat down to be entertained. I think a no stat run is more my speed. Abilities are fine. Cruise the sphere grid for what you like. I dont use zanmato in any run. It shouldnt be in the game or if it is make it game law only. I dont know any of rikkus game breaking overdrives so thats not a problem the triple 9 or what ever
I've been watching these videos for a pretty long time, however I just recent started to let vids play while I do other stuff. His voice is so fucking relaxing.
I've been umm-ing and ahh-ing over starting a NSG game of FFX. Now that I've played through the main story several times and have gained knowledge on the mechanics of the battle system it feels doable. When I first played I replied so much on grinding to have any chance at beating bosses. It was in later play through realized that there are so many options and strategies that I was missing out on.
Only half into the video so maybe he will explain but if not, can someone please explain HOW this is possible? If you dont use the grid then how do the enemies later in the game not one shot you? and how do you do more than single digit damage?
I have a question: is it worth it to go through the trouble of acquiring and powering up the celestial weapons on a NSGNS run? I mean, I know they ignore the enemy's defence stat, but given the character's strength stat will be very low, is that enough to make a huge difference in the damage compared to a regular weapon? My guess is it's likely not to. Any input would be appreciated.
Up to Luca it's pretty straighforward. Then I bought a sword with "Slow" from Oaka which carried me up to Riku. Then you unlock equipment customization
I'm relatively new to this channel so please excuse me if this question has been asked before or if im missing something but is there a commentary no sphere grid play through on your channel and if not, are there any plans to later down the line? I'm currently enjoying your p birdman mod run. Keep up the great content !
also I added death touch and +10 strength to TKO to make it sudden death and if it doesn't insta kill something at a low level it does over 2000 damage
It seems the more technology advances the more people demand higher quality. When what it should come down to is the content and how well it is done, don't you think?
Matthew Mosavel Indeed, but the technology helps us put out our message in a way that is nicer to consume. Would people rather I made identical videos with 240p mobile phone recordings and the phone's microphone or how it is now? You need both if you want to truly do it right. Content is king, but not sufficient to be truly engaging I think.
The first NSG i completed I really abused my summons (no zanmato though), second time I attemted a NSGNSNO (no summons, no overdrive) and almost completed the game, had to resort to summons in order to beat BFA. (After 50-ish attemtps or so)
I think using summons is fine as long as there’s a strategic rationale to in that particular fight such as you are fighting a bunch of enemies that spam Fire then you summon Ifrit to absorb the fire damage or a boss is about to use their big move so use an Aeon as an Aeon shield. I think if using summons basically you want to ban preloading overdrives before boss fights, Yojimbo is banned, no teaching aeons new abilities and ban increasing the aeons stats through the use of stat increasing spheres in order to cap the Aeons power levels.
Ok but heres my thing is there any way to do this challange without heavy Rikku reliance? Every challange run Dan does and others do, it's Tidus, Wakka, Rikku, and it'a just Mix, Mix, Mix- it's stale, it's boring. Every playthrough ends up being the exact same.😊
I was thinking about replaying X recently but was kinda meh to the idea because it would be the exact same as every other run, but challenge runs like this reignite my interest. How Long To Beat says the games is on average 50 hours, Ive never personally counted, my PS3 save is somewhere around 150 hours, I presume a NSG run would be longer than the average, long drawn out fights? Especially for a beginner. It seems pretty much like its all about Rikku, I like her as a character but might it get a bit boring just always relying on her Use command for every fight?
+deadserenity95 For reference in my NSGRONONENNE game I got to BFA in around 90 hours. Rikku is of course pivotal but you will need your other characters too. If you do a run in which you restrict yourself from escaping encounters then yes it will definitely take more time and will get more repetitive after a time. But if you allow escape encounters that you don't want to fight and get a no encounters armour when you have access to the airship that will cut down on the most time consuming encounters, a plain old NSG game won't take that long. You don't need to spend a huge amount of time fighting enemies for items/steals. Like I said, even in a farming intensive run like NSGRONO, start to finish was 90 hours. It's possible to complete an NSG run in under 24 hours with no saves ;)
+dansg08 hm, I don't know about anyone else but I saw a save file somewhere that beat the main story in about 20 hours. I can't remember for the life of me where it was.
+Zero Reborn With NSG restrictions? It doesn't seem impossible, but I haven't seen the file you were talking about. I'd have to see a run on TH-cam to believe it :) When you get the Underdog's Secrets from Rin and mix Trio of 9999 for every Boss you can get through the game really quickly with NSG (add a no encounters armour after the airship too and it's a breeze). That's why I tried to persuade people not to use Trio or Quartet of 9 :)
Better than "No Sphere Grid" is a "Team Captain" rule. You elect whatever character you want as a team leader. They MUST be in party at all available times. If they ever KO it's game over.
I was about 12 when I played this for the first time. I skipped through the tutorial and thought that by just moving through the sphere grid "leveled me up". Didn't know you had to click Use and Activate the Node in order to gain the benefits. I got all the way to the Spectral Keeper before realizing my mistake and restarting lol. I used the Aeons constantly. I was using my Power Spheres, Mana, ect to level up my Aeons instead lol.
You can't. You either have to have almost impossibly good luck and defeat Shinryu, or you have to hack your save file so that you can unlock Nemesis to at least have some fun trying to beat it anyway.
+luisdaNotSam That's actually one of the harder ones because Rikku isn't around yet :) Make use of your overdrives, make sure they are charged (and have the right mode so you can get a 2nd overdrive during the fight if you need it), and just wait until the Extractor rises. The idea is to do big damage when it's preparing depth charges so you can bring it back down without having to face it. Lightningstrike/Lightning elements reels on Wakka's overdrive also helps ;) I seem to remember it can also be slowed using Tidus' stunning steel.
dansg08 oh, thanks, man. Last time I played the game was around six years ago so I'd forgotten you could bring him down by doing enough damage and I kept using the overdrives at the beginning of the battle.
+luisdaNotSam Yeah stunning steel is almost a must for the extractor fight because your speed is low and you will have a hard time dealing damage in time.
Hmm very interesting, I'd like to jump back to spira again When I stopped playing this game I felt kinda sad cuz I was leaving these characters A jump back to spira without the sphere grid will be interesting I have a question about NSG, are u allowed to get the basic stats in the NSG or are u not allowed to use the sphere grid at all
+Razor King Well, no, since it's a NO SPHERE GRID challenge :) But if you think that's too much then there are variations. One is called "OSG", meaning "Own Sphere Grid", where you can only unlock each character's specific portion of the grid, but if you do this challenge you really need to add some extra restrictions otherwise for the storyline it won't be very different from a normal playthrough. To see which section of the sphere grid belongs to which character, give FFX OSG map a search on google. There's another one called "ANO", and with this one you keep everyone's stats at their minimum level but you are allowed to unlock all the abilities, so your HP/Strength etc is all the same as the beginning of the game, but you can use spells like Holy/Ultima etc. That might be fun too :)
i know this is an old comment but could there be other challenges via cheats too ? like rikku spheregrid only or something like that where all characters have to warp to rikkus spheregrid section
I've been doing the challenges for awhile but I wanna do a ngs no escape no overdrives no summons and no equipment change, but Idk if its possible. what do you think?
+dansg08 that's the last one I did on the ps2 version, Im getting my ps4 the 6th and I wanted to do something more challenging to start my twitch channel, but I agree and Ill probably drop the n if its too hard ill drop the no equipment change. thanks tho c: keep up the work on your videos though, they're great
+dansg08 update/ I'm currently on evrae and decided to play through on nsgnsnenb and get all the primers so I can get 99underdogs (secret?) from rin and then fight evrae without overdrives. rn I'm using mainly rikku on stoic and hitting evrae with chaos grenades every time she dies and I use auron to revive her(because auron is the only one who survives poison breath after evrae is hit with chaos grenade because it does slow, darkness, and master break)and then I plan on using the chaos grenade, get evrae to just above 11000 hp and then use a final chaos grenade and hope cid takes me back before he can kill me with haste and then barrage evrae with missles. only thing I could come up with if I'm not doing blitzball. i also have rikku, auron, and wakka with darkstrike weapons. hoping I can survive this time because I forgot to pick up poison fangs in macalania from the wasps. wish me luck!
Personnaly I found NSG really fun for the Main story especially without using Trio of 9999 and summons (which makes the main story to easy even in NSG), however like on normal playthrough FFX's post-game sucks for me it is just so boring to me and grind to raise Aeons with sphere is just the most boring thing I ever seen in a video game.
I think I never will do this kind of challenge, it is just not my thing. I am still struggling on my Penance, No Arms defeating, No Overdrive, No Summoning, No Character Switch Challenge. I have to grind again because I chose the wrong characters and I have to make huge breaks in between as well.. Thanks for the video anyway, your love for the game seems endless :)
+Lukilord That's a whole different kind of challenge :) I prefer the David Vs Goliath style of challenges to ones that feature powerful characters (even if it's still very difficult). But good luck with that, send me the video if you manage it :)
+dansg08 Thanks for the wishes, I will need it ;) I can understand that you like NSG-type of challenges, but I guess it does not suit me. I will record my attempts, but it will take some time till I'll be ready for it. For the moment my Counter-Attacks are killing the arms which is annoying... ;)
FFX NSG is the easiest no power leveling FF game. FF13 NCU is really hard. FF12 NLB is insane. FF8 no level up is crap because you can junction high level magic to your stats, but the no junction is not that easy but not that hard either. I havent tried 7 and 9 LLG.
The Dark Aeons can be a pain tho if you don't plan out. Shiva has really high speed so almost always she attacks first which can give you a game over before you even have a turn which is why it is essential to have first strike to attack first and that other thing to prevent the enemy from attacking first. But... Them eidolins in 13 really kicked my ass. The first time with snow was confusing on how to beat them but it's really not that hard afterwards. Odin, Bahamut and Hope's summoning gave me game overs, But Sazhs and Vanille's were really simple. Everyone says that Berthandalus is one of the hardest story bosses yet I beat him on my first try with grinding. I can't imagine doing that boss without grinding.

The Dark Aeons can be a pain because Shiva has really high speed so she usually attacks first which can result in a game over way before you can even get a turn. Which is why it is essential that you have First strike and initiative on your gear to prevent that from happening.
It seems a lot of others in the comments were like me, played the game at a young age, didn’t know how the SG worked so didn’t use it, left it for awhile and then eventually realised had to use it and suddenly had a whole lot of spheres to use 😂 I don’t remember when I discovered I had to use it but I remember that happening to me 😂😂 I also remember doing my first ‘adult’ play through and waiting to use the SG to see how far I got, I think it was past Kilika ?
The first time I played through 10, I unintentionally played without the sphere grid up until Mount Gagazet. I didn't pay attention at the beginning of the game and just skipped all the tutorials never realizing why I wasn't leveling up haha
How you can reach mount gagazet without sphere grid ? i mean for a first time player (not player who intentionally use NSG guide) i can't even beat Sin Spawn Gui in NSG without guide.
I'm actually not. At the time I assumed they changed the system because you could swap characters in battle and such. And as I said I just mashed X though the tutorials so I had no clue. It wasn't until I got to the fight Seymour on Gagazet when I realized something was off because I literally would die right away, every time.
lmao i too played through without the sphere grid for the exact same reason and i got stuck on sinspawn gui. i eventually figured it out and my disk had a scratch on it so after i finally got past that part i got stuck on the beach after the cutscene and the screen would go white that sucked lol
Even if you ignored the tutorials, how could you just completely ignore all the menu options in the game for the 20-30 hours it takes to get to gazaget? Did you never look in the menue? Never set your equipment? I just dont understand the mentality of a gamer who doesnt immediately test all the buttons and look though all the menu options.
the fact that you cannot defeat the badass Penance is a big bummer, since whoever plays this game aims themselves at the big boss. I wonder if there's any other challenge in this game beside NSG
When I was a young lad, I either didn't understand the sphere grid or I completely forgot about it. But I remember not putting one point in it and completing the game. After doing it again on Remaster and growing a braincell, I done it with the sphere grid. So much easier. Next time, on steam (it's downloading as of this moment) I will use the expert grid.
I haven't even finished it normally yet. It seems crazy to think that it can work but I just started searching playthroughs of it and it exists. That's crazy lol
........ I could barely beat the game using the sphere grids. When I played, I neglected Kimhari and Wakka and got stuck at Jecht and waited YEARS before finishing the game!!!
I remember playing through this with my brother many moons ago.(original) We had to do all the puzzles with no Guides. (Cloisters) never again ;) Gamefaqs FTW i use stone with wakka and lulu lulu is deathtouch from Guado if i remember right.
First time i've played Final Fantasy X, i played without using the sphere grid. I didn't know that's how you are supposed to level up, so i would just grind up thinking i was leveling up because the level keep accumulating in the menu. I got as far as the fight with the Extractor Boss in Moonflow, but wasn't able to defeat him, so i got frustrated and gave up. I only came back a couple years later and found out that i had been playing FFX wrong and that was why i couldn't beat that guy which is an easy boss if you lvl up. Almost missed out on one of my favourite games back then.
haha my first time i did the same thing making it to earth eater. im currently on a normal game at Penance but i think i have my strategy down now to beat it
Spud Stimson So auto life works no matter what then?? No matter how many ppl are left or any instal kill it will always revive you?? You can literally make your characters invincible??
Im pretty sure you can make an equipment wih auto-life on it. Even if your entire party is wiped at once auto-life will bring them back. I think only Dark Yojimbo can actually get past that. I think Zanmato will kill your party and give you that GO regardless of auto-life.
i played this when i was 9 and i beat it with no idea how to use the sphere grid and no idea how to read stats, that means i just put random weapons on my characters
I would try this if I didn't love FFX-2 so much more. First game in the series centered on women. :) and still the only one. Some games are just too ahead of their time.
It's a good thing people like you are the minority. Most people don't care about gender politics in their video games. They care about whether the story is good and if the characters are compelling. FFX-2 is a narrative disaster. A piece of horrible fan-fiction that should've never got past the pre-conception stage.
“Stay away from the summoner.”

You're a bad man
Did everything in the game back on PS2 days, then i got the platinum on the PS3 remaster.
Hahaha
I gathered 99 Slvl with out moving 1 sphere because I thought Slvl was my character level and id get stronger by getting more. lol
Did either of you read the tutorial? Haha it's alright, I didn't use it much either.
Matty Kubik I did the EXACT same thing, but I made it all the way to Gagazet. I literally beat Seymour, TWICE, with no sphere grid, before getting stuck. the boss that finally stumped me was the guado machina at the entrance to Gagazet.
Matty Kubik saaaaame had no idea lolol
@@gusgee3135 i had the game on german which i didnt understand, so i didnt knew about sphere grid
sweet, never thought this would even be possible. only played this game a few times but it's still definitely my favorite game of all time. the dark aeons sound like a pain in the ass though haha. thank you for the information man
I'm quite pleased that you made this video. I've been tinkering with the idea of doing a NSG play through for awhile now. Now that I have my Twitch channel, it's been even more alluring. It's always seemed like such a daunting task though. I'm glad that you alleviated my worries good sir.

I just wanted to comment again and say thanks for uploading the video. probably never would've even thought of searching for a challenge like this otherwise.
+gbach919 Thanks man, looks like you still have a lot of the game left to enjoy :)
Skip to 12:40 to skip all of the ranting on
Arkatoreus Thankkkkk you!
About to watch your ffx-2 stuff.
with no sphere grid how do you get stonger? how do you beat creatures in the omega dungeon or anima? how sway?
Darrin Harris well you see armours and weapons are absolutely essential for this run not to mention Rikku with her use ability
Rikku
Thanks to this, I have started a No Sphere Grid, No Summoning and No Trio or Quartet of 9 run. Just beat chocobo eater, felt like the first proper roadblock and is sorting of optional, but I persevered and defeated it. Exactly as said, try your own strats first, don't just look up how to beat bosses pre-emptively - great advice. Haven't enjoyed fighting chocobo eater so much in over 20 years.
nicest voice to listen to on youtube
hey man im not sure if you read comments on old videos but ill leave this here anyway. Any peace man thank you for giving me a whole new channel to watch i can only subsribe and keep watch over my newsfeed hopefully thats enough for now i wish i could do more
Thank You.
Peace.
This is something I’ve always wanted to do but never been brave enough. I think I’m finally going to try.
I always thought your channel name was Dan's G 08, now I know it is Da NSG 2008 to commemorate your first NSG run
I'm going to give this a go!
I have just beaten Seymour at Macalania temple with NSG, and now just discovered this video. Hopefully it helps me with the rest of the game.
As a caution, keep a save from before completing Macalania, since many steal items Will be unavailable for a while.
So, my main question is this:
Is it possible to fuck yourself over in this?
The video doesnt start until 4 minutes in
Edit: okay it's more like 8 minutes or 13 minutes for any real tip to be said
The NSG challenge, for the most part, is actually quite easy once you know exactly what to do. Especially after the Calm Lands.
... Just like any game where execution doesn't matter?
You said you did NSG Rikku only no OD, but then in the very next sentence you said she's essential because of Mix... Her OD... How does that work?
Well he's not giving tips for a no OD playthrough, so OD is an important factor for what he's giving tips for
I noticed that too. He couldn't give tips that don't involve Rikki's OD
I'm relatively new to this channel so please excuse me if this question has been asked before or if im missing something but is there a commentary no sphere grid play through on your channel and if not, are there any plans to later down the line? I'm currently enjoying your p birdman mod run. Keep up the great content !
How the hell do you beat mt gagazet Seymour?
Yojimbo, how else?
The easy way : use mega fever
@@darrensmith5977 Trio of 9999. Not all comes to Yojimbo. Hell, Trio isn't even neccesary if you caught of all of the fiends in Macalania
also I added death touch and +10 strength to TKO to make it sudden death and if it doesn't insta kill something at a low level it does over 2000 damage
great stuff as always!!
Is that background in the beginning part of FFX or like an artist made it for FFX
I saw your very early videos xD. You recorded them with your camera while FFX was on your tv screen. Very nostalgic haha.
+Matthew Mosavel Indeed, those were the days :) A lot less editing, rendering and uploading time!
I cannot argue with that, very well said. Either way I would still enjoy your videos :)
I do have a question, is it possible to get all the celestial weapons on NSG?
Yes. Celestial weapons have nothing to do with your level.
The first NSG i completed I really abused my summons (no zanmato though), second time I attemted a NSGNSNO (no summons, no overdrive) and almost completed the game, had to resort to summons in order to beat BFA. (After 50-ish attemtps or so)
As a get out of jail free card I stocked up on some Dark Matters by playing Blitzball.
Otacon464 braskas final aeon
I think using summons is fine as long as there’s a strategic rationale to in that particular fight such as you are fighting a bunch of enemies that spam Fire then you summon Ifrit to absorb the fire damage or a boss is about to use their big move so use an Aeon as an Aeon shield.
I think if using summons basically you want to ban preloading overdrives before boss fights, Yojimbo is banned, no teaching aeons new abilities and ban increasing the aeons stats through the use of stat increasing spheres in order to cap the Aeons power levels.
If you listen to this guy's voice long enough, he begins to sound like Andy from outsidexbox.
I want to unread this!
How'd you get the Final Fantasy X video backgrounds
Ok but heres my thing is there any way to do this challange without heavy Rikku reliance? Every challange run Dan does and others do, it's Tidus, Wakka, Rikku, and it'a just Mix, Mix, Mix- it's stale, it's boring. Every playthrough ends up being the exact same.😊
on shinru to examine eraser just have two characters run from battle and he never uses it BUT then again no auto life makes that fight.... problematic
I can't even beat the dark aeons while playing normally...
Jesus Ruibal the general rule of any JRPG, is to grind until you can one-shot things in an area then move to the next area.
You could have always paid Yojimbo to Zanmato every boss. It's instakill for only a 1000gil once you've reached max affection with Yojimbo.
@@darrensmith5977 same. Playing Star Ocean Till the end and love getting to lv 30 in starter area just to one shot bosses.
I'm playing rn, I'm def gonna do a challenge playthrough of a sort ty
Best of luck man
I was about 12 when I played this for the first time.
I've played Final Fantasy X since its release but I'm only just now finding out you can complete it without the Sphere Grid? Lol
how can you unlock nemesis then if you can't beat Shinryu in nsg?
You can't. You either have to have almost impossibly good luck and defeat Shinryu, or you have to hack your save file so that you can unlock Nemesis to at least have some fun trying to beat it anyway.
Going back to playing old games is the new black. Being that most new games are dogshit it's hardly surprising.
I started a NSG run and got stuck at the moonflow. Any advice on taking down the underwater machina?
Hmm very interesting, I'd like to jump back to spira again
When I stopped playing this game I felt kinda sad cuz I was leaving these characters
A jump back to spira without the sphere grid will be interesting
I have a question about NSG, are u allowed to get the basic stats in the NSG or are u not allowed to use the sphere grid at all
+Razor King Well, no, since it's a NO SPHERE GRID challenge :) But if you think that's too much then there are variations.
+dansg08 hmm interesting :) but I might as well try NSG cud be fun
i know this is an old comment but could there be other challenges via cheats too ? like rikku spheregrid only or something like that where all characters have to warp to rikkus spheregrid section
Can I get those animations you used in the video though? They're so goooood.
+DaltonOK I have a video about cinemagraphs on my channel and in the FFX playlist, you can find it there :)
Thank you, You're the greatest!!!
I've been doing the challenges for awhile but I wanna do a ngs no escape no overdrives no summons and no equipment change, but Idk if its possible. what do you think?
+Apparation 541 It's possible, but I'd drop the no equipment change stuff and just go for a NSGNSNO, that's still pretty challenging.
+dansg08 that's the last one I did on the ps2 version, Im getting my ps4 the 6th and I wanted to do something more challenging to start my twitch channel, but I agree and Ill probably drop the n if its too hard ill drop the no equipment change. thanks tho c:
keep up the work on your videos though, they're great
+dansg08 update/ I'm currently on evrae and decided to play through on nsgnsnenb and get all the primers so I can get 99underdogs (secret?) from rin and then fight evrae without overdrives. rn I'm using mainly rikku on stoic and hitting evrae with chaos grenades every time she dies and I use auron to revive her(because auron is the only one who survives poison breath after evrae is hit with chaos grenade because it does slow, darkness, and master break)and then I plan on using the chaos grenade, get evrae to just above 11000 hp and then use a final chaos grenade and hope cid takes me back before he can kill me with haste and then barrage evrae with missles.
only thing I could come up with if I'm not doing blitzball.
i also have rikku, auron, and wakka with darkstrike weapons.
hoping I can survive this time because I forgot to pick up poison fangs in macalania from the wasps.
wish me luck!
Personnaly I found NSG really fun for the Main story especially without using Trio of 9999 and summons (which makes the main story to easy even in NSG), however like on normal playthrough FFX's post-game sucks for me it is just so boring to me and grind to raise Aeons with sphere is just the most boring thing I ever seen in a video game.
did you say entire playthrough with no sphere grid on youtube? ;D
Never forgot my first time with this game went as far as the airship boss fight without using the sphere grid although I couldn't get past that boss

The FF8 challenge is No Junction, or if you want even worse Level 100/No Junction
It seems a lot of others in the comments were like me, played the game at a young age, didn’t know how the SG worked so didn’t use it, left it for awhile and then eventually realised had to use it and suddenly had a whole lot of spheres to use 😂
I don’t remember when I discovered I had to use it but I remember that happening to me 😂😂
I also remember doing my first ‘adult’ play through and waiting to use the SG to see how far I got,
I think it was past Kilika ?
i dont use rikkus trio of 9999 or yojimbo on normal walkthroughs. Its so cheap
The first time I played through 10, I unintentionally played without the sphere grid up until Mount Gagazet. I didn't pay attention at the beginning of the game and just skipped all the tutorials never realizing why I wasn't leveling up haha
How you can reach mount gagazet without sphere grid ? i mean for a first time player (not player who intentionally use NSG guide) i can't even beat Sin Spawn Gui in NSG without guide.
hes lying obviously
There's X character only runs, where you only play one character, except for times where you're forced to play other characters.
@Tee Riff isn't yu yevon in ffx2?
wait. no sphere grid means your stats remain the same and you get no new moves?
+pikapikapitiful Indeed, but as I say, the game is more than possible with these restrictions :)
I haven't even finished it normally yet. It seems crazy to think that it can work but I just started searching playthroughs of it and it exists. That's crazy lol
pikapikapitiful Check the playlists in the description, watch Rikku do it on her own without using overdrives ;)
when i first heard of no sphere grid, i was shocked. then when i saw the strats, wow it was insane
"No trio"
I don't even know any of the combos for it :P
I did this on accident in my first playthru because i was too young to understand how to use the sphere grid and i forgot it existed
Interesting...
@@finalshade14 mildly
Sure you did.
+Ignis Mare haha am sure you kicked its ass when you levelled up your characters
I accidentally played trough half the game with no grid I dead a lot🤕
haha my first time i did the same thing making it to earth eater. im currently on a normal game at Penance but i think i have my strategy down now to beat it
While I agree that 1 shotting is boringly easy, it is funny sometimes, like my last playthrough yoj killed the gagazet Seymour for me on accident lol
Yojimbo
Real gamergirls did the NSGNSNCNONBB challenge
What??? Man there’s no way. How the hell you suppose to beat Sin with 300 health lol must take a lot of glitching and exploits
Auto-life, bruh.
I think Zanmato will kill your party and give you that GO regardless of auto-life.
cant figure out why this video has 100 dislikes.
Well u can beat the game wit only items so this shouldn’t be hard
i played this when i was 9 and i beat it with no idea how to use the sphere grid and no idea how to read stats, that means i just put random weapons on my characters
..... emmm
5min into vid and still no tips
I would try this if I didn't love FFX-2 so much more. First game in the series centered on women. :) and still the only one. Some games are just too ahead of their time.
How exactly does that make the game "ahead of it's time"?
It's cool and all, but it's not the reason why it's 'good'.
Ahead of its time? Good because its centered on women?... No.. just no.
It's a good thing people like you are the minority. Most people don't care about gender politics in their video games. They care about whether the story is good and if the characters are compelling. FFX-2 is a narrative disaster. A piece of horrible fan-fiction that should've never got past the pre-conception stage.
tip 1. just zamato it.
This dude rambles so much and says the same things several times
Sounds boring lol
This video is terrible
