dude i totally agree. the simplest thing to do is just get a refund through your card or paypal, etc. dont drag their business through the mud. however....someone SHOULD have taken down their website.....
Remember, those GTI's were probably that guys teenage dream car. It was for me and now I own one. I also own a couple of modern Ferrari's. The GTI I own is just as valued to me as my Ferrari's.
The FTC is clear on this whole issue: 1) A seller cannot knowingly list an item that will not be delivered. 2) Once a seller takes payment he has 30 days to deliver. 3) If he cannot deliver, he must actively reach out to the buyer and actively offer the option of a refund. Mk1AutoHaus is routinely in violation of all three statutes, and each violation is subject to a fine of $16000. Finally, 4) As members of the general public, we viewers are not committing any crime by failing to report these violations. OTOH, businesses under the jurisdiction of the FTC have duty-to-report statutes. "Jerry" likely falls into this category, and this channel's owner, in obscuring "Jerry's" identity, may also be in violation. Edit: the "About Us" tab on the mk1autohaus website lists the owner as Benjamin Williams, so at least we know who "Bob" is.

i appreciate you clarifying your intentions. believe it or not, the only info i’m withholding is the exact health problems he’s dealing with and what city all the parts is being moved to. i genuinely do not know any more than that. the very first and main thing i was telling jerry was “site needs to come down, yesterday” to which jerry first did not realize it was even still up. a few days later when we touched base again, he told me that bob simply claimed “i do not have access to the site anymore” and that the person who used to work with him and actually send parts out with was the person who was responsible for the site in the first place. do i believe that he’s powerless with taking the website down or contact payment processors? absolutely not. but the reason this video is 15+ minutes long is because ive divulged every bit of info i know regarding the case. im glad im not in direct content with bob for these exact reasons and it will stay that way. this is a very bad situation to be anywhere near, let alone be the cause of it all. i should retract my assumption about your experience with them then. back to the video when i was mentioning restocking parts from oversea’s; this was ALWAYS an issue. rather than adding specific notes of “these parts need to be shipped from europe”, they chose(poorly) to just leave these items up as in stock. the PROPER way to handle this problem would have been to order parts ahead of selling them. actually stock the parts you offer rather than seemingly wait till 10 orders for that part come in to go ahead and order a batch of 20. as you already stated, once you add a few more problems to the mix, these sort of hiccups turn into legitimate problems and now flat out fraud.

If you need the money, put a ‘donate now’ button on the site. Don’t leave the store page open & accepting payments if there’s no guarantee they’ll ship, especially when the site mentions none of this! Its unfortunate to hear the guy’s in bad health but that doesn’t excuse fraud.

Any updates? I have a couple relatively large orders still out there. The website now appears to be down so my order history and communication attempts with them are not accessible. I've resisted getting refunds hoping my parts will eventually show up, but at some point I need to cut bait. This update is now nearly a year old, please acknowledge, thanks.
no other updates other than the website being down. contact your payment provider for you refunds, which honestly you should've done long ago. there's another video on my channel which a more recent update than this but fact remains, you should've processed your refunds by now via your payment provider since mk1ah is and has been unreachable.
my 2nd to most recent video has a short update, but its basically just that the website has finally stopped taking orders about 2 months ago. though its a step in the right direction, were still moving at a snails pace unfortunately.

MK1 Autohaus has a lot of parts other places just aren't shipping right now. Bob's health is important above all else, but the site needs to be updated to reflect the circumstances.
My wife worked at a dance studio for years and the lady who ran it was in the same situation as "Bob". Self employment is a lifelong struggle from what I've seen and not everybody is suited for the life and the eventual end, or even what that looks like. Most have no health insurance, savings, or retirement as it's always part of the business. I think it is crappy of him to keep the "bait" store open, but I'll bet denial has every bit to do with it as the temporary financial side of it. Thanks for the update, I get you're just passing info along. Pray for the unsuspecting, lol
dude thank you. are actually experiencing those very same small business issues and troubles you described right now. rachael just simply can't afford health insurance right now when you factor in how useless it is with 6,000$ deductibles. blah blah blah, fact of the matter is she doesn't have health insurance and she injured her ankle pretty badly last week. financially were okay but were only a broken bone or three away from financial hardship at all times. thank god she's able to hobble around and continue to work because even though she can financially afford a a month or two off, she can't afford to upset even a few days worth of rescheduling her clients. most of them are on relatively strict 4-6 week schedules. i know its not as severe as bob's scenario but self employment has its drawbacks and unfortunately most people don't realize how much some people sacrifice.
A defunct business does not accept money for products. Only real, functioning businesses and illegal, fraudulent enterprises do that. Unfortunately, M1AH has transitioned from the former to the latter.

dude thank you. are actually experiencing those very same small business issues and troubles you described right now. rachael just simply can't afford health insurance right now when you factor in how useless it is with 6,000$ deductibles. blah blah blah, fact of the matter is she doesn't have health insurance and she injured her ankle pretty badly last week. financially were okay but were only a broken bone or three away from financial hardship at all times. thank god she's able to hobble around and continue to work because even though she can financially afford a a month or two off, she can't afford to upset even a few days worth of rescheduling her clients. most of them are on relatively strict 4-6 week schedules. i know its not as severe as bob's scenario but self employment has its drawbacks and unfortunately most people don't realize how much some people sacrifice.

A defunct business does not accept money for products. Only real, functioning businesses and illegal, fraudulent enterprises do that. Unfortunately, M1AH has transitioned from the former to the latter.
