As I find myself transporting my elderly parents more and more I am finding these "elevated sedans" are much easier for them to get in and out. My Prius is too low, even for my 5'0" mother. She actually finds my Wrangler easier as she says it's easier to climb in than it is to climb out. Things like the Crown have a seat height that is a happy medium, it's not a climb in, or a climb out.
Yep, that is the main reason why I drove Lexus hs 250h for so many years. My elderly mom was able to get in and out much easier than a SUV or normal sedan.
Raised bodies are part of the reason my elderly parents own a RAV4. The higher seats make access so much easier. Also the AWD gives more security for them.
I am definitely considering this vehicle as my next purchase. It has such a luxurious look inside and out. I have not seen anyone on the road driving this.
23' Crown owner here. It's not the most exciting car, but it's a smooth ride, good fuel economy, and reliable. But I wish I got something more fun instead.
The new 2025 Camry is so much more fun drive. The 5th generation hybrid is more torquey, quieter engine, better handling, and better fuel economy. The Crown rides softer and is quieter, which I prefer. If I had to choose, I'd choose the Camry. Both are very great vehicles.
Toyota Crown are made in Japan, much higher quality than Toyota’s made anywhere else in the world. That alone is huge reason for buying it over a Camry or RAV4 that is produced locally
Trust me, It's not true. These are stereotypes. The whole interior make unpleasant noises like squeaky. As for the reliability of the car, it is also questionable. I have a new car and have already had problems with it
My experience is very different. My 2024 Crown XLE, which now has 16K miles, has been very quiet and reliable. It also gets me 44+ MPG's. Love the Crown.
I don't love or hate it. It would not be right for me simply because I want a transmission. I live in an area where I go up and down hills frequently and having the option/control that affords is important to me. I can see where this car would be good for a lot of people that do state to state driving. Where you don't know if you will run into snow coming or going and this gives you that car ride with the GC one needs once in awhile. I have to say, I am disappointed you did not give a final verdict/opinion of your own. "I don't know" does not cut it. We can get that anywhere.
Maybe it's the New England weirdo in me, but I don't hate it. It reminds me of the Subaru Outback sedan, which I may have bought if they still made it. I'd probably get the Crown Signia instead if I had to get a Toyota, unless I wanted the more powerful option.
@@nateisright ' Seems I heard a designer saying liftbacks are formidable to build economically. They were easier back when we didn't care if the roof caved in. ... But I'm definitely with you on that as the A7/S7 and Panamera are among my favorite cars.

Looks about perfect. I just saw one. Yep, most American new cars come with a can of seal a flat and a little care note from the dealer that says, "I bet now you wish you'd listened to your salesman."
I hope the lift back version comes to the U.S. market. I like the sedan shape (for the aerodynamics and fuel economy) but want the utility that my Prius offers. I believe Japan gets a lift back version already.
My neighbor is the general manager of the local Toyota dealer and he loses money on every Toyota Crown that is allocated to him. They sit on his lot and basically sit there for months. NO one wants them. 5-6k off is the norm. Interestingly enough, the Sienna minivan is one of his hottest sellers. They say minivans are dead, but they outsell the Corolla, Crown, and Camry combined at his store.
Ask him how to get this much from total MSRP. I found black night shade. They tried to tell me msrp included port & delivery & it's black (yuk). Instead of $48,750, they took off $3,850 from $51,000. I love night shade color, not black, but need someone giving me $6,000 - $8,000 off!
When 11 speakers are not enough, you understand how automakers have managed to get customers to pay the prices they are getting them to pay these days.
I have the 2025 LXE it’s better this year with leather. Almost 45 MPG mixed driving. Winter is here now it heat up so quickly inside. I paid list with a few dealers items thrown in. The thing will drive itself in cruise control scary at first.
There is nothing special about the Toyota crown. It is just a traditional car sedan layout and size. Kinda like cars were made like back in the days of gramps and grandma. Practical roomy decently proportioned cars properly fit for family service. Set up for carrying up to 5 or 6 people and their stuff in good comfort with a good quiet ride and decent performance and economy for a reasonable cost. We used to call these Oldsmobile cutlass, Pontiac lemans, Chevrolet Chevelle, Dodge dart, Plymouth valiant, American motors rambler American, Ford Fairlane or Torino or dodge coronet. The class was called the mid sized or intermediate car class.
@JBinFL yes, along with many other components cars had. Maybe a Subaru Legacy/Outback is an easier to grasp example. Seriously, is there any difference between lifted-sedan/cross-over/lowered-SUV or is it all just marketing jargon?
For reference: 2019 Mazda 6 signature 36k sticker. Non-hybrid, 2.5 L turbo with 250 hp on premium. I get 29-32 mpg on mostly highway driving (60-75 mph mostly). Wish the Crown was a liftback and traditional transmission (or dct).
Where have you been for the last couple of months? Look back and they introduced Jen, but wait,,,,, There’s a second lady working for them as well!! 😊 It’s working out well!! 😊
A sedan like the Crown, or a wagon like the Crown Signia, are still significantly smaller than a minivan. Hard to argue that someone in the market for a sedan should consider a minivan. Anyone looking at a 3 row SUV or crossover might want to consider a minivan though.

' Only reason I watched this video... The "Wagon/SUV" version looks the better value?
Sedan need to make a comeback, these type of car are very popular in Europe and ideal for somebody who want higher sedan to drive confidently

Wow, this is a high level review!
To be fair, that’s not much different than the typical conclusion of “it depends” a reviewer usually offers

@@SimirJohnson yeah sure, minus the body cladding and the ride height. So basically no, not quite....
I hate SUV's, but these look GOOD. Sitting in one at an auto show was an experience. Interior felt very luxury compared to their other models.
The Crown is built on a Lexus assembly line. That engine cover is used in Lexus cars not Toyota.
They use the exact same engine covers for this engine, just a different logo.
prius was too low when we had it and suvs are often too high this is a nice in between
Wish it had a liftback. Good presentation!
Toyota makes the Crown Signia if you want a liftback.
@ thanks. Would rather have the sedan shape with a liftback, like the Panamera or A5.

Yeah certainly more practical! Would prefer it any day too. But it's interesting that they've made a sedan version
We did, until we sat inside.
1980s style sedans need to comeback
The nightshade trim does not get the turbo. The hybrid max engine is a 2.4 liter

1:11 Huge Power? 184 engine Horsepower and 236 (combined with hybrid) Horsepower is not much for a 4000lb vehicle.
I think that was in reference to MPG; however, fair point it was left to interpretation.
Definitely was for the mpg
Platinum is 340hp.
You dropped this 👑
When 11 speakers are not enough, you understand how automakers have managed to get customers to pay the prices they are getting them to pay these days.
That trunk pass thru is pretty small. So if you want to haul things like bicycles the SUV is the only way.
If I was in the market and had the money, I’d buy the Lexus
The real question, is it worth 10k over a loaded Camry?
Kind of. Not over old camry, but over current smaller, lower, sporty one!
Personally I think I'd ether have the cargo area of an SUV or crossover. But their might be a few that would like this option.
