Pleased it was an easy fix for you. You'll be glad to see the back of that one!
Yeap - today was driving up and down the hill with Jim, looking for a mystery rattle in the roof - what fun!
Jim had some polyester, so we put a layer in between the headlining and the old sunroof panel - sorted!
Well Mike, off course it's a nice ride, it's a Range Rover! 😉 Super jobb! And no, newer finished!
Right on!
Such a lovely machine ! You’ll settle it eventually
Sorting rattles out today!
I'm so pleased to see that you are finally getting the Range Rover ready to be handed over to it owner that will be a wait off your mind to see it gone.
Never, never, never again!
JONAH the new owner.
Great project, I do miss my rangie, and love the colour of this one. Well done Mike. 🍻
Thanks 👍
If it drives just half as good as it looks, you have no worries .
I find if you drill an 1/8 hole in the sump, the front axle never gets rusty. Seems to use a touch more oil though.
Just the sort of top tip I'm always looking out for .Thanks, I'm off out to the garage right away. Isn't the internet a wonderful resource?...
It is a lovely looking car, you can see why people bought them.
Shame about 4 door versions, who wants passengers anyway?
It’s getting there. Had a “moment” with my l322 04 reg td6 Range Rover while back, drove great came to reverse on driveway, came to move forward a tad then realised when I went to reverse again it longer had it, only neutral and drive, though new gearbox time anyway was just the selector cable had broken underneath, quick bodge with copper wire to hold it together and it lasted the week it took to get the new cable from LR £200! And been all good since. Easy fixes are always best and a relief!
Had a D2 the did the same - the plastic socket on the end of the shift kept popping off - wired it up ran it a while and forgot about it
I tell you what mike you have skills and patience in abundance id of blown it up by now and bought a Toyota
Can’t wait for the August 2027 update video!
Safari Heritage Parts offers an affordable reproduction of the automatic shifter film cover.
Yes I saw that!
It’s such a beautiful car and that colour really pops. It will suit you very nicely sir!
I think so too!
Looks good Mike. When I restored my defender I had to set myself a deadline in the end to get it over the line…
Parts for the early RR's are a nightmare to find here - most cars rusted out and were scraped
I had a 2nd hand roller deck from Dave at Ashcrofts at a good price Mike.
She looks beautiful Mike 👍
Thanks!
I can't believe how much hair you've lost since you took on this project. Great looking car, such a nice colour, and very interesting to follow, I've learned a lot of things along the way regarding re-trimming etc. The Freestyle mag wheels are in top condition and really suit it. Originally, they were a popular option on the 300 TDi Disco 1.
Thats a very good looking car and a credit to your hard work. I dont think they are ever absolutely finished, youve just got to draw a line at some point.
Thanks 👍
I find the best way to do a Disco handbrake linkage is to remove the bodywork first.....worked for me anyway....😂
Great tip!
Dunno how similar the wiring looms are but I had a rattle in the roof of my D2.
Wouldn't hear it for days and then, usually while driving along narrow, bumpy, lanes (UK roads) I'd hear a distinct "tapping" noise coming from the left-hand side of the roof, somewhere at the front.
Removed the headliner to re-cover it and took the opportunity to hunt down the rattle.
With a mate driving, I found that the wiring loom, which runs along the top of the windscreen, was bumping against the roof near the top of the left-side A-pillar.
I fixed it by wrapping a spiral of fairly thick foam-tape (draught-excluder tape) around the loom and then secured the ends with cabl;e ties.
Again, not sure how similar a RR is but on a D2 you can take the front grab-handles, sun-visors and the plastic overhead console off, along with the sunroof trim and the headliner will sag down just enough to let you get your fingers in and check this but I'm not sure there's enough space to actually get in to FIX it without taking the headliner out completely.
We now have expanding spray foam!
@@BritannicaRestorations Heh, never thought of using that.
Still, I suspect that'd bite me on the bum when (not if) I need to treat the inevitable rust above the windscreen.
Good idea though.
You got the heart of a lion 😂😂😂
Sounds like it'll be used as golf cart.
Can’t you get under her and manually move the neutral safety switch on the transmission to park or neutral to get her started? I could be way off though.
There is an interlock solenoid on the shift mechanism
@@BritannicaRestorations to keep rover thefts to a minimum 😂
Good luck Mike
Interesting side mirrors. They must be from a Disco.
They are - not unless you want to pay for genuine ones $$$$$$$$$$$$$!
Nearly all used are broken in some way
Good work on the range rover. Surprised that you don't have a covered area outside to keep vehicles under for occasional work out of the rain or snow when no space in the shop.
Problem is I am not allowed to have anything in front of my shop due to 'zoneage' and the back has to be clear for piling up snow
@@BritannicaRestorations AHH ok, always the 'zoneage' 😅, that's a shame.
When I wanted to re insulate the building and put new siding on, I was told by the council, that the walls would be 2 inches too thick and infringe on the distance from the edge of the road to my property. I just did it anyway...
Bloody councils pain in the a
Looking good. You've certainly put the hours in on that project. I may of missed it but did the 90 go to the USA yet?
Which 90?
@@BritannicaRestorations i thought you had a 90 that was waiting to be collected to go over to the USA. I maybe confused lol
The green NAS 90with GRP roof? From Florida, wasn’t it?
Classic Range Rovers are beautiful cars. Pity about the mechanical aspects of it.
That colour sticks out like the dog’s bollocks.
You had dark hair when you started that project. Four years for a pro mechanic. Kids, don't try this at home.
Wise words Dave!
