    Black exterior and whisky brown leather interior would be by choice. Nice vid! Thanks for posting.

      Thanks Bro! That definitely is the more "classic" of the 2...

    When I was looking o a RRC, it had to be a softdash. For me its the perfect blend of old school looks on the outside with modern touches inside.

    • @ThatsClassiccars
      @ThatsClassiccars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a good shout.. I think the AC is cooler on the soft dash versions over the hard dash. I wonder if they had a more powerful AC compressor??

      @@ThatsClassiccars Interesting question as Im going to find out in the next few months. Im in Florida and mine is barely passable. Im also wondering if the Middle East market got a better AC set up which would make sense.

    Just got my first RRC (light resto jobby). Soft dash '94 - really enjoying it!
    I'd definitely choose soft dash again as it still has the touch of retro aesthetic, with enough modern comfort to not feel like a compromising drive over a newer car :)

    I certainly like the soft dash, but I think I´d go with the hard dash. They are very, very hard to find here in Venezuela, either version. I mean, you rarely see one for sale, it seems the owners prefer to keep it. Thanks for your video. :)

    • @ThatsClassiccars
      @ThatsClassiccars  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thankyou! The hard dash definitely is more original.. I bet they are rare there.. are you cars LHD ? Like the states?

    • @sabasgonzalez4372
      @sabasgonzalez4372 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, more original. Could be a little better, but it's very cool all the same! Yeah, LHD here, like in the States. I enjoy your videos. I love Classic Range Rovers!

    When checking for rust you should also look at the rear cross member.

    There seems to be more room for big feet under the original dash. Feels a little more cramped under the softdash when shuffling about. Also fine the 'softdash' steering wheel obscured some of the brinicle warning light compared to the older design.

    • @ThatsClassiccars
      @ThatsClassiccars  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is actually very true, Lots more space for big feet under the older version (Hard Dash) In the soft dash there isn't as much room

    thank you for your video, it is very helpful as i am looking to buy one. would you recommend the 2.5 VM engine?

    • @ThatsClassiccars
      @ThatsClassiccars  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m glad you found it helpful, thankyou for your message. The 2.5 VM is a good engine, nothing wrong with it but I would rank the 200 TDi engine and then the later 300 TDi as the prefer choice. They are slightly more refined and more responsive on the road.

    I think it's the same guy who also did my headliner and good to see you've got Magnecor HT leads on.....
    The set on my 110 gave up after 15 years which I consider well worth the money..... considering they only have a 10-year warranty on them....
    As to which I prefer my answer is both despite the fact that I have a soft Dash......
    Which unfortunately means that it's been blessed with combinations of classic,
    Discovery 2,
    And the odd p-38 component.
    Witch naturally means it's right minefield of getting compatible parts for example the electric window mechanisms are discovery 2,
    A lot of the electrical system is discovery 2 mixed with classic.....
    The alternator is discovery 2,
    As you can see a right headache.....
    All the same Great video.

    • @ThatsClassiccars
      @ThatsClassiccars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh Yeah it probably was the same guy, he's very helpful and really efficient. I've seen him replace a headlining in an hour or so. Pretty damn quick. Yes i've been happy with the leads actually, they work well. worth the extra spend on them.
      Lol, This is my issue with the soft dash, I find it is almost more luxurious but also its basically a discovery.. The ride also seems different to the hard dash too, I wonder if that it is Because my soft dash had a spring conversion?
      That sounds a nightmare with parts too....

    • @daler2577
      @daler2577 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThatsClassiccars when I purchased the vehicle the previous previous owner had fitted really hard Springs so hard that they cracked the windscreen in three places with the extra rigidity........ so I immediately fitted a new set of coil springs and dampers..... in a few years time once those Springs go rusty I will convert it back to air suspension as she was fitted with it originally.....
      I think the only thing that keeps us and going with these old girls is the fact that they are gorgeous looking vehicles...... and with vehicles sizes only getting bigger it's now not that bigger vehicle as they once were.

    • @ThatsClassiccars
      @ThatsClassiccars  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daler2577 Yes thats so true! They aren't "Big" anymore compared to the new line of vehicles.
      Thats incredible it cracked the windscreen because shocks were so hard! I fitted the "Police Spec" springs on this and i was happy with the ride, also Terrafirma shocks which i am a fan of. Comfortable ride but still stiff enough to handle corners.
      Nice one for putting the air suspension back on, a lovely ride when they work well.

    Hard dash, like my LSE, in balance with the overall design of the RRC. Soft dash reminds me more of a Disco, also a very beautiful Land Rover, bu imo that dash is a bit too modern for a classic Range Rover.
    @thatsClassiccars, what tire size do you have on your RRC?

    • @ThatsClassiccars

      I know where you’re coming from.. the AC on the soft dash is cooler though 😅

  • @40022laconia
    @40022laconia ปีที่แล้ว

    I always thought that the soft dash was only used because at that time all new cars had to have air bags fitted.
    The hard dash is better because the soft dash makes the interior feel more cramped and also the steering wheel is at the wrong angle on the soft dash.
    Some people like the soft dash because it looks more modern but surely if you want modern then you wouldn't be buying a RRC.
    I think i've seen this one is for sale?

    • @ThatsClassiccars
      @ThatsClassiccars  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great choice of models! Do they operate by using the key? Key fobs regularly break and you can just get a aftermarket replace off Ebay or Amazon which can be switched over pretty easily. The later models had door lock modules too.. which could have gone
