The people sleeping on this really don't know how hard this chart is. For this guy to play this so well, while also being someone who plays multiple instruments and most likely (sorry if I'm assuming) hasn't been a part of an HBCU style band program, is crazy. Keep it up man!
playing multiple instruments is the only thing I disagree with they definitely know how to play multiple instruments I am a product of HBCU and can play 7 different instruments
@@louisarthur2425 Oh I think I wasn’t clear. My fault! I didn’t mean to say that HBCU programs don’t condone learning multiple instruments. I was just saying that it’s amazing that he DOES play multiple instruments (very well) and that he also is getting a *nearly* authentic HBCU sound while being someone that may not have come from an HBCU program. Sorry for the mix up!
Coming from a trombonist, excellent job. Everyone is their own player, their own voice, their own sound, their own soul. There's no replicating, just forming and formatting into their own feeling. Strict, soul, jazz, funk, you name it. No two players are identical
This is probably the closest version I’ve heard to Williams playing!! It’s been 15 years since I touched an instrument and to be honest this video makes me want to pick up the trombone again!! Awesome video!!!
william is what inspired me to officially start trombone by next year! i already play 2 woodwinds, piano, and cello and i needed to find the right brass instrument to pick up. my ultimate goal is to play this solo
It feels like this dude just rushed the notes to finish the piece. I feel like William Bilal really takes his time and plays it with the his whole heart.
Great talent. I played trombone for several years. You are definitely in the 99th percentile of trombone players as far as talent. This is an outstanding version and great that you can play all the lines.
Great job. I get why some are critical but if you close your eyes and listen, there are moments where dude is absolutely in the pocket funky with it and that cannot be taken away from this young man. Especially the parts where he gets in his bag and adds his personal touch vs replicating the original nuances.
You did great kid!!!! You are your own person. You do not need to sound just like the other kid. Just know you killed it also!!! Color me impressed! 👏🏽
His cover is like BB King perfect notes. William Bilal is like Hendrix he Raged through with the most beautifully master trombone tones ever . So good you can duplicate it twice
Miles Davis once said, that during the time he was learning to play the trumpet, there was a radio station he would listen to. He said, he always knew if the trumpet player was white because their sound didn't register or light up his soul. My point? the young yt trombone player is very talented/ pls give him some love but the brother played from his Soul which touched my soul. I am a trumpet player.
Best cover I've seen by FAR of Black & Blues. Amazing Edit: No shit Will Bilal has the best, I'm considering him the standard and this the best recreation of what he has done
I really don’t think you guys should be comparing his version to Will’s. If you think it’s better that’s great but I’m sure that wasn’t his intention to sound better or as good as Will.
I loved it. I would love to see a collab between you and Will. Instrumentals are not .mainstream as they were in the 80's a d early 90's. You two could bring it back.
Bro! This has to be the best version of this that I have seen other than the original. As a musician myself I have but one note. From an academic standpoint you NAILED this, but there was an emotional component that was diminished by you being so technically accurate in your rendition. Just my opinion, but I will love the recording.
Always love videos of one musician playing all the parts in one song😊 *Kudos for a very respectable performance here. Keep at it!* If I can make an observation: the “cleanliness” of the notes’ sounds reminds me of someone who isn’t familiar with country or rap songs who sings the lyrics enunciating the “-ing” at the end of words. There’s a formal vibe to the music. The fluidity of Bilal’s performance is the difference between the talent of getting the notes of this song to the beat, and the magic of giving a trombone a voice. That being said, great job in both your performance AND pro-level audio/video editing👍🏾🙂
Well, a lot of creative liberties were present but the main beat was there, very well done. I've played the same black and blues on sax so, I like this very much.
got DAMN... ive been looking for like half a year for someone, literally anyone who had actual soul in a cover. fucking hell man.
This man sold his to the Devil down by the railroad tracks.
some other kid William bilial? i don’t remember the name but played this at a football 100% recommend if you want something with soul👍👍

Agree. My son is great & can't quite perfect it yet. So hats off to this kid for completing with finesse, something so complicated!
Tf that shii was trash 🤦🏽♂️
Nice
Imagine being his neighbor.. hearing all his different attempts. Masterful
That big melisma you did at 1:42 gave goosebumps. Don’t let anybody tell u don’t play with SOUL ❤️🔥
Great job!

Wow!
HOLY CRAP, it's actually you guys! Love your work!

Finally someone who 1. Credits Will 2. Plays it with the stylistic inflection it's intended to have. Great job man!
Missing some seasoning
@aaasttraaa because he composed the fanfare, its literally his arrangement
@@aaasttraaa , BC his tones and timing is closer to how Will played it then cookie cutter sheet music.
Come on the guy is white, and hes trying to cover one of the most soulful trombone players ever. He done a bloody good job of it @bezcobb
Its just so amazing when you read the sheet and realize how high the notes are..
Lmaoo Ik that shit go way above the measures
Yeah he's above the entire treble clef lmao
It’s difficult to play but William Bilal played like he was releasing some built up energy the soul was there with will
No lie. He literally made that trombone cry.
@@YourWifesRealBoyfriend seriously
I agree, I just wish I could find a version of his that doesn't have the additional sounds like the spectators and stadium speakers.

Yeah, Will made the trombone cry. Soul snatching. This young man is good and get my props as well.
If you're not falling over while you're playing this song you're not doing it right lol. Man put his everything into this absolutely love it
love this lol
It’s cool, but there’s a deeper rhythm that pulls your soul when William plays.
Ur going crazy rn 💀 but facts

Only person other than william bilal to do it this well. Insane in your own way. Jazzier feel, I like it very much.
There's a weirdly disproportionate amount of veiled and not-so-veiled gatekeeping in this comment section. This cover is obviously super good.
At 1:33 I love the addition he does he sounds so good

0:58 that flutter really put a smile on my face 😎

Awesome job man!! Ive listened to williams version hundreds of times. This comes close, finally someone with some SOUL!!!!
The video of the college students in the bleachers had so much soul

THAT RIFF AT 1:32 IS " NAAASSSSSSSSSTAYYYYYYY"...... DARE ANYONE TO DISAGREE....... That trombone was literally "SANGIN" 🔥
Second comment… I hope you are strong enough to not give the petty, hateful comments any weight whatsoever. You did you here, amazingly.
