    The handshake thing is funny. I got into a broken Thai/English convo with an old man the other day and when we parted he gave me his hand to shake.
    Not necessarily related, but while Thais can be really reserved people, a simple expression of warmth (a smile and "sawasdee krab") can easily crack them out of their shells.

    Pointing in a Thai's direction with your finger is also considered super rude. Your Thai friend might slap your arm down in emergency fashion. You might point out someone by pursing your lips in their direction instead, which might get a laugh.
