- We find out how Shell V-Power can rejuvenate the performance of your engine from the scientists behind it.

The speed and precision with which an internal combustion engine operates is almost unfathomable. Along the pit straight at Bedford Autodrome, a BMW M5 CS is breaking through 130mph at the top of fifth gear and the crank is spinning at 7200rpm. The pistons are racing up and down the bores 120 times a second, met with perfectly timed bursts of fuel and air for unrelenting thrust. With such fine tolerances, any weak link in the chain will bottleneck the performance and efficiency an engine can offer; not least the type of fuel you’re using.
Shell V-Power first appeared at the pump more than 20 years ago, and the formula has been continuously developed to deliver the very best for the very latest high-performance engines and the technology that’s packed within them. To find out how it works to improve the performance and efficiency of your car, evo took a trip to Shell’s technical centre in Hamburg for a deep dive into the science behind V-Power.

Just tried V-power on my bike by accident... we have petrol dispenser in Mauritius and I pulled near the V-power pump without realizing...
My personal review is that I didn't have to go as hard as i'm used to on the throttle...
the bike seemed to be gliding effortlessly on the road..
simply amazing... ❤
To faire moi gagne envi essay sa 🤣
Since getting my new car , I've been using shell cos my company has given me shell card and pays for the fuel. Always used shell v power diesel. I could feel the difference when last week I had to use sainsburys due to some reason and I could not feel that power. It was not just me, my family asked me too if something is wrong with the car. They never knew that I had 57 litre of diesel from sainsburys.
Shouldn’t they disclose this as a shell advertorial?
It would have been helpful to get info regarding those of us that use Shell VPower Diesel regarding the benefits of using it on Diesel engines. Thank you.
That M5 CS is a work of art!
All fuel leaves refineries as a base standard product. ie diesel or petrol. Tanker drivers add additives to the tank on delivery. ie red dye for red diesel etc. There are good internal cleaning products eg. Bardahl EGR, Turbo, Injector etc which should be regularly used every few thousand miles.
I used Shell V Power and I crashed into another car!
Thanks a lot Shell V Power!
you have to put it into the car not drink it!

There is NO modern RON95 unleaded fuel today that does not contain additives. In fact, in Greece I've noticed misfires on RON98 V-Power on a vehicle with an old mono-point injection system. This did not happen with RON98 BP and RON100 BP fuels.
It helps that the Shell stations in my country are discounting V-power once a week to almost the same price as the cheaper version (0.03 cents difference)
great improvement on my Isuzu Sportivo. I only use this as an additive. full tank ratio: 20% v power and 80% regular for mix long and city ride. for city ride you can go all out 100% v power.
so there is no bio inside? like aral ultimate?
BP Ultimate for me
Is it the same for vpower diesel?
What about in Direct Injection engines like in that BMW?
Well I have BMW made engine in my Peugeot RCZ which is direct injection so we DI engine boys can say byebye for any chance to any gas clean our intake valves, we will end up aaalways with gunk build up on intake valves, so I assume that atleast this v-power will clean inside our engine chambers and DI gas nozzles but propably nothing else
It's tough enough affording standard fuel. 🧐
Tesco momentum all day 👌👌
There is a vid by fifth gear that shows how much more power your engine makes on V power. Its far superior. I notice the difference on power and on fuel economy

Is V power fuel same as the E5
E10
Interesting to see the transition to e-charging. How long before we get ‘digitally engineered electrons’ that give 3.4% extra range?
Nobody is interested in crappy EV milk floats . A purist wants a proper car with mechanics and soul.
Totally agree
So is Shell saying that I should use high octane in my regular econo car, or is this for someone with a high-performance car who needs Vpower and uses something cheaper to save money?
Vpower can be used on a reg car once a while but daily on a performance car.
Are they gonna post this vid another five times?
Guys you are watching an AD
the word UP TO is not a percentage ..
So... is Nicola coming back to do her regular reviews again? They were fun : )
I use Shell V Power in Kenya🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
New drinking game. How many times can you say new and improved shell vpower
Sponsored by SHELL!
I use Tesco Momentum, find it much better. Shell is overpriced.
Indian Oil XP95 ftw
Your credibility and honesty has gone down the toilet. You have been bought.
Too expensive, Tesco Momentum, plus a splash of millers 👌
We all understand that publicity is needed .... but this is too much.... First this has no effect on DI engines regarding the intake valves, second no one really knows what is in these "premium" fuels, which percentage and so on.... just put regular petrol and every once in a while put some cleaning additive
do you recommend a particular one? I have a 2016 Forester XT direct injection turbo motor.
Tesco 99 is better and more consistent.
It's all well and good having all these cleaning agents but in direct injection engines them valves are still getting coked up.
so what can you do on those cases? I got a DI Forester XT.
PS I also have a Direct Injection car as most are now DI though they should have done both port and direct injection as this would have solved the issue...but cost cutting for more profits seems to be the way of the world now..
Nicola in a lab coat looks about 14 years old - lol
Remember guys, not only does this stuff give your car infinite horse power which can be measured on the stopwatch on the way to the supermarket but chicks will love it to. You'll be fending them of with a stick.
No it's not. But nice BMW
Not sure if Diesel ⛽️ v-power is Better than regular B7 diesel ⛽️ by the way you pays your extra money and takes your choice..
Sponsored by BP 😂
pfff sad
total bullcrap
DI engines laugh at this science.
so how can you clean them?
Native Olive Oil is much more better.
Garbage. If your car manufacturer recommends regular fuel, and you use a higher octane, you are wasting your money and may even be polluting more because it ignites slightly later in the combustion process. Some say the computer will correct for it by advancing the spark, however, why should you you get the same power from regular fuel. The only difference, perhaps is the additive package they may put in the regular verse premium, as it may have some more cleaning agents. It’s the same between brands as well. The difference between say Exxon/Mobil (Esso) and Shell is the additive package. But both have polyethylene amine cleaners. In the North America, including the United States, Canada and Mexico, and I don’t know if it’s in Europe yet, there is a certification called top tier that the oil company sign up to meet. Do not kill suppliers meet this requirement those they do supply a level of cleaner in the fuel that keeps the intake valves, clean on your engine no matter what grade you use.
V-power mainly worsens climate change 🙂
The only way this over priced crap actually does anything is to use nothing else from the day the car is built.
Well that was boring, anybody that says they can tell the difference, total bollocks😅

Well done. At last something to put on your CV.
