Im a 24 year old girl that just bought her first real car- the Ford Flex 2019! I currently have everything for my SPL built except my new alternator and wires. I am watching your videos, the only REAL videos on youtube that wont skip parts of the video. Thank you soooo much!!!
@operationsusfoods1354 nice about the car and i appreciate the positive feedback. Showing people how its done so that you can put that Labor work money into higher end gear which will sound better than anything you would have to settle for stepping into a shop. 😎👊
Aww thank you 🥹 that means alot. Im always grtting told negative things by tandom people here. Sometimes it gets discouraging to make any content because of it.
Hd series are same output an any ohms they have an amazing regulated power supply so will do 1200w all the way down to 9v then shut off I have the hd1200
Brother it been a while since I seen your channel! Was on Best Buy review and seen your post! TH-cam channel blocked a lot of my subs but I am back! Still haven't gotten out to Cali due to health issues and other things. Stay up and I finally built my SQ Camry this year so I will post later on my page! Peace and Semper Fi OORAH
@silverevans7763 hi, i apologize for the long wait time for a reply. I used 4 gauge OFC wiring from Knu Konceptz and some 4 gauge wire ferrules to make the wiring look as clean as possible.
I had this debate about a alternator wire needing to be fused or not, and yes it does need to be fused, if not tell that to my car which alternator wire got red hot and burnt all the rubber insualtion off and had I not found it in time it could’ve caught on fire . So I Investigated this and turns out the oem vehicles use the wire terminal as a fused link or the wire itself has a weak point where it melts off just like a fuse.
Im glad you caught it on time. I haven't had any issues with mine. It still works 100%, and i guess it really depends on what type of wiring a person uses when doing the BIG 3 or BIG 4. In my case, i went all out with the most expensive and heavy gauge OFC wire i could afford, and im glad i did. I have the BIG 4 in my flex worh 4/0 OFC wiring, so i have no alternator whine sound coming out of the speaker and zero issues with the wiring melting or catching fire. I did prepare my wiring with fire resistant techflex wireloom, which is also very expensive 😅 when i eventually repair my 2002 buick park avenue Ultra and put its sound system in it, i will do the same to it and maybe record it. Since i changed my hobby from car audio to electric scooters it probably wont be uploaded, specially since the car audio community is super critical on DIYers.
@@THEAVERAGEGUY1983 yes, having thicker wire helps of course, its when the insulation has a part where it rubs against something and it goes thru and causes a shortage and than that wire flows directly from the battery
Nice video, i just got this amp to power my 12w7. Question: If i have the Epicenter Micro to use as a LOC using the High level speaker inputs from an OEM HU, instead of using the RCA’s line inputs, do i set the input voltage on this amp to low or high?
As long as you have your epicenter micro with a steady 4 outs out of the RCA outputs to the amp you can leave the amp input sensitivity to low voltage. But if it goes higher than 4 volts on the epicenter, please set your amp input sensitivity to to (high) and then set your gain on the amp to what sounds good to you. Sometimes setting the gain with a tool sounds a bit too low which is why i have mine with an overlap to get some power out. 😅👌
Hey man, sick ass system 👍🏼 Had a question I plan on getting the HD 1200/1 amp to power just one 12” W7 Do you think if I keep the gain low, this will be a good combination? Because Crutchfield told me that would be overkill.
Hi that amp will NOT be overkill, infact the 12w7AE in this test sounded like it could handle even more power then what it was receiving. And even if ba change it sounds a tiny bit clipped from its signal. You can always dial down the amp gain a bit and have it sound its best. Infact i wish i would have gotten then HD1200/1 my self. But at the time that HD750/1 was paired with a little 8W7AE powered at about 600 watts rms and it took it like a champ. I still own the subwoofer too. 👌😎 Go For it! You wont regret it.
@silverevans7763 nice! I was gonna get one for the flex but Mechman doesnt make any for it. But they do for my Old 2002 Buick Park Avenue so i figured i would try getting one for that car instead since the lights dont dim on the flex when the bass hits. 😁👍
That's an excellent question! In my honest opinion, i believe you would be much happier with an HD750/1 because of the higher wattage output it can do, and you can get pretty good results with a stock charging system because of its R.I.P.S technology, it just lacks a DSP to give you some extra tuning flexibility. Now with the JL Audio VX600/1i, you get a 10 Band Equalizer with the built in DSP which would allow you to tune your subwoofer sound however you like to make your music sound better but you will get less power out of the amp. Both are great amp choices. I hope this helps and appreciate you asking for advice it means a lot to me for sure. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out again. 😁👊
Hi Silverevans, i sure do still have the HD750/1 its my main subwoofer amp. Its still working great. I highly recommend it. And it will definitely be a great pair for the CLS10"W7.
@@THEAVERAGEGUY1983 that would make a good video as well. sound quality between the two in your application. I tested the lc2i vs fix 82. Fix sounded great.
@Digging low that sounds like a great idea, too. Hopefully, I'll have the time to do that. I started to work on my 2002 Buick Park Avenue ultra today. Oh damn was that thing dirty! I didn't even get to finish. As i was cleaning the car, i also found a lot of the weather stripping all hard and turning to dust as i touched it, lol! That's a real project car there. It's gonna be lots of labor work and parts, lol! The cleaning im doing off camera, but everything else I'll most likely be putting on video so the people can see what it took to get to the ending of the project. 😎👌
You heard correctly 4/0 is 4 times the size of a 4 gauge wire. Thats the main cable size for the power going from the alternator to the battery and from the battery to the fused distribution block. 😁👍 but its definitely not cheap. 😬
Ah I see now. 1/0 is a larger diameter than 1 AWG and 2/0 even larger and so on for 3/0, 4/0. Never knew about the /0 gauges. Edit: also thanks for the reply.
@o0Donuts0o you're very welcome. 😎👊 most people use those big sizes for running power from them egine bay to a ground or fused distribution block and from there put the 4 Gauge wirirng into their amps inside the car or trunk, depending how many amps they are running. In my case i have 4. So i needed that extra power. 😅
@@THEAVERAGEGUY1983 Thanks again, sir. I’m thinking very heavily of getting back into car audio after a ~15 year break and oh boy have things changed. 500 amp fuse?? Dude the size of fuse is not relative to resistance. It’s to protect the wire. 4awg will burn up at 150-200 amps of current.. you said yourself battery puts out 70 amps of current. Alt 125.. your 500 amp fuse will never protect anything
The stock Alternator is 175 Amps, the battery is 72 Amps, the BIG 3 is 4/0, i dont just havr car audio gear in the car, i have 4 13.3 inch monitors, a Game Console, EL LED Ambient lighting, super fast charging USB C ports at 25 Watts A charger x 6, also i am supposed to upgrade the Alternator to a 390Amp so this is plenty. Also my flex does NOT have a fuse in the stock wiring. So i have no idea what else to tell you buddy. 🤷♂️
